Chapter 91 The Adventurers' Guild of Mag City
The elder sent people to collect the goblin corpses and take them to the goblin hero outside the village, who had been chopped up by Bai Ze. He also sent the goblin's ears and other clearly marked parts to Bai Ze. At first, Bai Ze did not understand what this meant.
The elder explained to Bai Ze that these were proofs required for adventurers to advance in rank and contribution.
An adventurer's level is based on their contribution points, also known as experience points; in short, it's the reward they receive for completing a quest.
Once an adventurer has accumulated a certain amount of rewards, and after the Adventurers' Guild assesses their character and they pass the evaluation, they can level up.
Character and social reputation are the most important evaluation criteria. Those with bad character or unclear backgrounds will not be promoted, even if they are highly capable.
The elder then had someone issue Bai Ze a certificate for saving the village. With this certificate, he could go to the Adventurers' Guild to upgrade his adventurer level.
Bai Ze quickly thanked the thoughtful elder. When Bai Ze watched the anime, he only saw Goblin Slayer slaying goblins and rescuing people, and he didn't know anything about adventurer level advancement.
After cleaning up the mess, they set fire to the pile of goblin corpses. The elder then led his men to bury the townspeople who had suffered. After offering prayers, the elder instructed the villagers to prepare a dinner to entertain Bai Ze and the women.
Just then, Bai Ze also asked the elder many things he didn't know, as well as the location of his group;
The elder told us that the location of Bai Ze Village was in the northwestern part of the empire, quite a distance from the northernmost border and the forest where goblins lived;
The town, which had never been attacked by a large goblin horde before, was suddenly attacked by goblins, something the adventurers on patrol in the town had never expected.
The most famous and prosperous capital of the empire, the City of Water, is located to the east of the town, while the large city of the Adventurers' Guild is about half a day's walk southeast of the town.
Bai Ze thanked the elder for sharing so much information, and said to the elder:
"To prevent the goblins from sneaking back, we'll stay until tomorrow. I'll send people to search for any signs of adventurer teams in town, and we'll leave once we see them."
The elder's eyes lit up with joy, and he quickly thanked Bai Ze. After being attacked by goblins, the tranquility of the village had vanished. With powerful adventurers like Bai Ze and Raphael in charge of the town, the elder was naturally very willing.
After resting for a night, Bai Ze asked Xiao Meng to use Ya Lei Jia to check if any adventurer teams were around the town. If they were, Bai Ze prepared to bid farewell to the elder and set off.
Xiao Meng nodded and told Ya Leijia to set off. Several hours later, when the sun was almost directly overhead, Xiao Meng said to Bai Ze:
"We saw a group of armed adventurers heading towards the town on the road to the west. Aze, shall we go?"
Bai Ze nodded and went to the town to find the elder and told him:
"The adventurer team in town is not far from the main road to the west of town. Elder, we must go now."
The elder held Bai Ze's hand with a look of reluctance, while several of the bolder little girls, their faces streaked with tears, surrounded Raphael, not wanting him to leave. Finally, after the little girls burst into tears, Bai Ze led the women away through the eastern exit of the town...
Once outside the town, Bai Ze wiped the sweat from his brow and thought to himself:
"If we don't leave now, some things will become unclear. Everyone in our team is so powerful, so why isn't anyone wearing an adventurer's badge?"
It's best to avoid meeting adventurer teams. I'll register my own team with the adventurer guild later, slowly grind points and collect social reputation certificates, and get myself upgraded to gold level first.
Here is an explanation of Goblin Slayer's adventurer rank:
Steel, Obsidian, and Porcelain: Newcomers, still unaccustomed to taking risks, and in a rather dangerous period.
Red Jade, Green Jade, and Blue Jade: the core fighting force, but there is a gap in personnel numbers and a lack of successors;
Gold, Silver, and Bronze: representing the highest level of excellence, combining both strength and credibility;
Platinum: A level beyond the standard, achieved by only a handful of people in history, the default level for heroes;
Look at the level certificate, and think about Goblin Slayer. He leveled up to the third tier, Silver rank, just by killing goblins to collect experience, score, and social reputation. How terrifying is that?
The number of goblins who have died in Goblin Slayer is probably no less than tens of thousands. Goblin Slayer's famous quote:
"I don't save the world, I just kill goblins."
…
After bidding farewell to the villagers, Bai Ze led the women southeast along the road. Just as the elder had said, Bai Ze and the women arrived at the large town they had seen in the afternoon.
Following the procession into the city, Bai Ze was finally greeted by the features of the magical world, with all sorts of humanoid creatures of different races appearing in the city.
Dwarves, lizardmen, elves—aside from those who don't pray and are disliked by the gods—many races can be seen in the city. Some run fixed shops, while others, clad in armor and carrying weapons, are clearly adventurers.
Bai Ze led the girls on a curious stroll through the streets. Unlike the previous worlds, the world of Goblin Slayer was the most similar to the world of DNF (Dungeon Fighter Online). There were dwarf blacksmiths, lizard monks and elven mages selling their magic scrolls.
Mengmeng happily darted back and forth among the street stalls, and the novel magical items were a big hit with Mengmeng, who was also a magician.
Bai Ze asked a stall owner for directions to the Adventurers' Guild, and then led the girls toward it. Mengmeng, who was being led by Raphael, kept turning back to look at the stall that had been selling magical items.
As a magic scholar, Mengmeng really loves those strange and unusual magical items that she has never seen before;
Unfortunately, none of them had much of this world's currency on them. Even the entrance fee was a hundred or so silver coins that the village elders had given Bai Ze as a reward. If it weren't for that little bit of money from the elders, Bai Ze and the others would have had to find a way to enter the city.
As Bai Ze led the women closer to the Adventurers' Guild, the more adventurers carrying various weapons and items appeared on the streets, and the more humanoids of other races there were.
Bai Ze and his group entered the Adventurers' Guild Hall amidst the crowd's attention. Yan Zu and the others asked why they were being watched.
Because Bai Ze, who was level 59, had changed into a set of level 62 True Blood Barrier Set (Overlord Contract, which allows you to wear equipment that is 10 levels higher than yourself), and what he was wearing at his waist was a red greatsword - Fury of the Mad Dragon and a katana - Cross Slash Blade Fighting.
The other women were also dressed in top-tier equipment, clearly indicating a high-level adventurer team.
"Hey~ that white-haired man's sword at his waist is red, is it a demon sword?"
"Idiot~ Are you crazy about weapons? With the magic sword hanging at your waist like that, the magic power and aura it emits can already be felt throughout the whole city."
"Wow, there are so many female adventurers in this white-haired team! They're all so beautiful. How wonderful it would be to team up with such a lovely team for quests!"
The staff at the counter, seeing Bai Ze and his group enter, assumed it was a high-ranking team from somewhere else and greeted Bai Ze with smiles, asking:
"Hello, this is the Adventurers' Guild of Mag City. How can I help you?"
Bai Ze scratched his head sheepishly and said:
"I want to register as an adventurer~ Oh! And them too."
Bai Ze pointed to the group of women behind him, while Mengmeng grinned and looked at the counter lady.
"Ugh?"
The clerk was surprised that an adventurer with such good gear hadn't registered his adventurer level; Bai Ze's words really stunned her.
"Did you just say you wanted to register as an adventurer, not upgrade your adventurer rank?"
Bai Ze said with a serious expression:
"Yes, register!"
"Alright~ Please come over here to register everyone's information, and I will issue you adventurer level certificates."
Bai Ze's interaction with the saleswoman was witnessed by everyone in the guild hall. Many people were incredulous, wondering how such a powerful group of people could be newbies who hadn't even registered their adventurer level yet!
If they're considered newbies with gear like that, then what are we? Scavengers from the Adventurers' Guild?
Everyone was talking amongst themselves, but Bai Ze and the women pretended not to hear them. They took turns telling the teller their information and registering their information.
Then, the six white porcelain-grade adventurer tokens were given to Bai Ze and the women.
After that, Bai Ze listened to the saleswoman ramble on about the requirements for advancing an adventurer's level.
At this moment, Bai Ze, playing with the white porcelain adventurer card in his hand, asked:
"How many points and experience do I get for defeating a goblin tribe led by a goblin hero and two giant goblins? And what rank can I reach?"
The teller was surprised that Bai Ze would ask such a question, and after a moment of confusion, she asked:
"How many goblin minions are there in the tribe? If there are only these three big goblins, it will only allow your entire team to level up to Obsidian. If there are more goblins, you can get a few more points and experience."
Bai Ze suddenly took out a large bag of goblin ears and goblin body parts proving he had killed three large goblins from his spatial backpack. Then he took out the certificate for saving the village given to him by the village elder, placed them on the counter, and said:
"There are 98 ordinary goblins. Oh! By the way, 15 of them are goblin cavalry, the two heads belong to the big goblins, and the thumbs-up hand and arm belong to the goblin heroes."
"Wow! What level of adventurers are they? They were able to kill over a hundred goblin troops led by a goblin hero in one go. Such strength is only from newcomers who just registered their adventurer level!"
"Space equipment? Item scrolls? Where did that white-haired swordsman just pull out that huge bag of reward certificates? It must be fake!"
"Goblin Hero? It's been a long time since I've received any information about high-level goblin monsters. Where did he kill the Goblin Hero?"
The clerk picked up the certificate issued by the village elder and saw the regional seal issued by the Empire on the paper. The clerk knew that this sudden attack protection incident was indeed real.
He then bowed to Bai Ze and said:
"Thank you for protecting and saving the village. Such a large number of goblins and goblin hero conversion points can upgrade your entire team to the Iron rank;
Normally, defeating the Platinum-level Goblin Hero would allow you to level up to around Bronze rank;
However, you have just registered your Adventurer Rank and do not have enough Social Reputation Points.
Please complete more reputation quests; these will accumulate into your goblin-killing hero rewards, helping you advance to higher rank faster.
Bai Ze listened patiently to the clerk's explanation and realized that it was impossible for him to suddenly advance to the Silver rank or higher. The quests were a piece of cake for Bai Ze; he could just grind them out slowly.
The clerk changed Bai Ze and the other women's identity tags to the Iron rank. This was the first time the people in the Adventurers' Guild Hall had seen a team advance from Porcelain to Iron rank so quickly.
Bai Ze then realized that they didn't have Goblin Slayer's currency. Taking on high-bounty missions was indeed a quick way to make money, but you had to go out and explore to find the mission objectives. So, they needed to prepare some money for themselves.
Bai Ze said to the bank teller:
"May I go to the meeting room on the second floor? I have a deal I'd like to discuss with the guild."
Seeing how serious Bai Ze was, and looking at his high-end weaponry, the saleswoman sensed a big deal was coming. She smiled and led the way to the second-floor meeting room with Bai Ze and the women.
