Under Adrian's gaze, she felt extremely uncomfortable, her heart pounding with unease. But for now, she could only force herself to appear resolute, striving to make her eyes look unwavering and her face sincere, hoping Adrian would believe her and not refuse her request.

Adrian's gaze was like a sharp ruler, measuring Shen Ying inch by inch. Time seemed to freeze at that moment; Shen Ying felt as if she were being roasted over a fire, every second an agony.

After what seemed like an eternity, Adrian, perhaps feeling he had scrutinized her enough, gave a slight nod, a gesture like a ray of light illuminating Shen Ying's anxious world. The instant he nodded, Shen Ying nearly burst into tears. She bowed deeply to Adrian with gratitude, saying, "I won't let you down."

Shen Ying followed Adrian and Elena to their encampment. As soon as she appeared, the three people there all turned their gazes toward her, their faces showing curiosity, as if they had discovered something new and interesting.

Shen Ying also sized them up. One of them was clad in heavy armor, the thick armor gleaming coldly in the sunlight, looking imposing; he was probably a knight. The other wore a dark blue robe with what appeared to be some mysterious patterns, giving him an air of mystery. The third was a man dressed as a servant.

As soon as the servant saw Adrian, he ran over like a little rabbit, his eyes full of curiosity, and asked, "Hey, Your Highness, where did you bring back this Eastern girl?"

Adrian remained calm and didn't intend to waste any more words, simply stating, "From now on, she will be our archer." His tone carried an unquestionable authority.

Upon hearing this, Leon's eyes widened instantly, his face filled with surprise. Like a little squirrel, he circled around Shen Ying several times, his gaze scanning her from head to toe like a scanner. Then, with a curious expression, he approached Shen Ying, raising an eyebrow and asking, "You're so small and weak, how can you draw a bow?" As he spoke, he reached out and touched the rather impressive-looking bow behind Shen Ying's back.

Shen Ying was a good-tempered person, and she wasn't annoyed by Leon's questions. She simply went along with the conversation and started chatting with Leon. The two of them chatted happily, like old friends who hadn't seen each other for years.

Just as they were getting into a lively conversation, Adrian called out to Leon. Leon quickly responded, then turned to Shen Ying and said, "Wait here for a bit, I'll come back and we'll continue chatting. I have a ton of interesting stories to tell, I guarantee you'll love them!" With that, he vanished like a gust of wind.

When Shen Ying saw Leon again, night had fallen like a large black cloth, and the air was filled with the fresh scent of the wilderness, mixed with a faint smell of smoke coming from the makeshift stove.

When Shen Ying's gaze fell on Leon, he was leaning weakly against a tree trunk, panting heavily, like a limp lump of mud, as if he had just survived a fierce battle. Elena, standing beside him, covered her mouth and chuckled, her shoulders shaking with a mischievous grin, as if she had witnessed something extremely amusing.

Knight Eric stood to the side, arms crossed, a "this guy deserved it" expression on his face, a slight upturn at the corners of his mouth, seemingly quite satisfied with Leon's miserable state. Calvin, dressed in a blue robe, stood like a detached immortal, eyes downcast, expression calm and indifferent. He tilted his head back, gazing intently at the vast starry sky, as if everything around him was irrelevant.

Elena was busy by the stove. Her slender fingers deftly held a wooden spoon, stirring the wild vegetable soup in the large black pot. The wild vegetables were ones she and Leon had painstakingly gathered nearby that day; their tender leaves tumbled merrily in the pot, like a group of little green sprites. As she stirred, she said to Leon beside her, "Go check if the rabbit meat is ready yet. Don't throw it in the pot with the fur still on."

Leon responded and ran to check on the rabbit meat. It was leftover from a previous hunt. He cut it into small, even pieces and carefully placed them into the pot. Elena smiled and praised him, "Hey, Leon, your knife skills have improved!"

On the nearby rack, Adrian was intently grilling fish. He held a homemade, makeshift grill fork, skewering the fish and turning it occasionally. The fish sizzled and dripped oil over the fire, its skin gradually turning golden and crispy, the aroma wafting into one's nostrils. Adrian frowned, staring intently at the fish, his seriousness suggesting he was undertaking something of great importance.

Next to the fish were several roasted potatoes. These potatoes had been roasting in the soil next to the charcoal fire, and their surfaces were now charred black. Leon ran over, pulled the potatoes out with a twig, picked them up, patted them with his hand, and said with a smile, "Hey, these potatoes are definitely cooked through, they'll taste soft, sweet, and delicious."

There were also some roasted mushrooms wrapped in broad leaves, placed on a flat stone. Elena sprinkled some spices she had found nearby on the mushrooms, which released a special flavor as soon as they touched the hot mushrooms.

In one corner of the campsite, there were some wild fruits: bright red hawthorns, sweet and sour, and some purplish-black mulberries, so dark they seemed to dye the surrounding area; if you picked them, your hands would surely be stained purple.

Shen Ying arrived at this unfamiliar yet wonderful campsite, and spent her first night in this loving atmosphere. As night fell, everything became quiet.

She and Elena crawled into the same tent. The tent smelled faintly of grass, a scent carried from the nearby meadows during the day. Shen Ying felt her eyelids were as heavy as lead; perhaps the day's events had been too eventful, and her body was simply too exhausted.

As soon as she lay down, drowsiness overwhelmed her like a surging tide, and almost the next second, she drifted into a sweet dream, her breathing steady and even, sleeping soundly in the tent in the wilderness.

After several days of travel, Shen Ying followed Adrian and his group back to the kingdom's capital, Radiant City. She quietly followed behind Adrian and his companions, her eyes seemingly under a spell, busily capturing every scene on the street.

"Clang, clang, clang!" The deafening hammering echoed from the blacksmith's shop, sparks flying everywhere. The blacksmith, shirtless, his muscles bulging with each swing of the hammer, shouted as he hammered, "Look at this! We forge the finest weapons and armor here, reliable on the battlefield!" The unfinished objects already gleamed with a cold light and a sense of toughness, radiating a unique charm under the glow of the furnace.

Hearty laughter and the clinking of glasses echoed from the nearby tavern. "Cheers! To our friendship!" a burly man with a flushed face shouted, raising his glass. Occasionally, someone would stagger out, drunk, and boast, "I once slew a dragon on the battlefield! That thing was bigger than this tavern!" The surrounding people would burst into laughter, but no one would refute them; everyone was immersed in the joyful atmosphere.
