Exclusive Pampered Wife: My Wife Came to My Door

Chapter 99 Yan's Mother's Collapse

Chi Moqing looked at her, remaining silent for a moment, without asking about her past.

Yan Zuozuo was very grateful for his thoughtfulness, and after a while she said, "I don't know if he's lying to me, but I don't dare to ask my mother, I'm worried she'll be upset..."

Seeing her heartbroken expression, Chi Moqing reached out to wipe away her tears and asked softly, "Zuozuo, do you want me to give him the money?"

"No!" Yan Zuozuo refused without even thinking. "He's not worthy!"

He heartlessly abandoned her and her daughter back then, and instead of feeling remorse, he's now using her mother's past to threaten her. He Cangyuan is a scumbag; she would rather die than help him.

Chi Moqing looked at her: "What if what he said is true?"

Yan Zuozuo paused, then looked at Chi Moqing with teary eyes. "I don't know, I feel so confused. Maybe he lied to me because he knew I wouldn't dare ask my mom for confirmation. Moqing, what should I do?" She gripped Chi Moqing's clothes tightly and suddenly asked, "Did you get any results from the investigation I asked you to do about He Cangyuan last time?"

Chi Moqing looked at her, hesitant, but worried that Yan Zuozuo's unstable emotions might hurt herself and the child, so he said, "Zuozuo, do you trust me?"

Yan Zuozuo nodded; in this world, the person she trusted most was Chi Moqing.

"Alright, I'll tell you. He Cangyuan abandoned you and your mother back then in order to make a fortune. But he was worried that your mother would ruin his marriage, so he deliberately spread rumors. Your mother is fine and has done nothing wrong. No matter what He Cangyuan says, don't believe it, understand?"

Yan Zuozuo stared at his serious eyes and asked uncertainly, "So I was deceived, and it was all just my imagination?"

“Yes!” Chi Moqing said affirmatively. Yan Zuozuo seemed to breathe a sigh of relief and leaned against Chi Moqing’s chest, whispering, “I’m a little tired and want to sleep.”

"Okay, go to sleep. I'll stay here and watch over you." Chi Moqing knew his phone was vibrating in his pocket, but he ignored it. Only after confirming that Yan Zuozuo was really asleep did he go out to answer the call.

As he finished his call and was about to return to his ward, he heard an uncertain voice behind him, "President Chi?"

Chi Moqing turned around, unexpectedly running into He Cangyuan here. He noticed a slight distance in Chi Moqing's eyes and said indifferently, "Dean He, what a coincidence?"

He Cangyuan smiled and said, "I came here for a meeting, and I didn't expect to see President Chi here. I heard about what happened yesterday, but it seems to be just a misunderstanding."

Chi Moqing said indifferently, "It's a misunderstanding. Someone reported me for bribing retired cadres."

"Really? That's absurd." He Cangyuan's words were somewhat evasive. Chi Moqing remained silent, but He Cangyuan quickly changed the subject, saying, "What brings President Chi here? Visiting a friend?"

Chi Moqing did not answer immediately, but looked at He Cangyuan with a cold gaze, "My wife is hospitalized."

"How could that be? We met yesterday, and she looked great." As if he was certain that Yan Zuozuo would help him, he made no attempt to hide the fact that they had met yesterday.

Chi Moqing sneered, "I'm also very curious why my wife lost control of her emotions and almost miscarried after meeting Dean He." He paused and deliberately added, "This is our Chi family's first grandson, and my parents were very shocked."

He Cangyuan's face suddenly turned ugly, and he didn't dare to look at Chi Moqing, feeling guilty. Chi Moqing took two steps forward and stood in front of He Cangyuan with a powerful aura. "What did Dean He say to my wife yesterday?"

He Cangyuan's breath hitched, and he couldn't utter a single word.

Just as the two were facing off, Qi Jiahui suddenly walked over. He was taken aback when he saw He Cangyuan and Chi Moqing, but quickly put on a smile and said, "Dad, President Chi, what a coincidence?"

He Cangyuan glanced at him: "What are you doing here?"

"I've come to visit a colleague," Qi Jiahui said with a faint smile, glancing behind him. Around the corner not far away, Cai Keren was hiding; she suspected she was pregnant and had asked Qi Jiahui to accompany her to the doctor.

He Cangyuan ignored him and looked at Chi Moqing ingratiatingly, "How is Madam Chi now?"

"Mrs. Chi? Zuo Zuo... what happened to her?" Qi Jiahui asked anxiously, until He Cangyuan gave him a sharp look, at which point he realized he had lost his composure and awkwardly touched his nose, saying, "We're colleagues, after all."

Chi Moqing chuckled: "You two are both very concerned about my wife."

He Cangyuan's face was stiff, and his expression was very unnatural. Qi Jiahui, on the other hand, clenched his fists tightly, as if he was trying his best to suppress something.

"Thank you for your kindness, my wife is doing well." After saying that, Chi Moqing checked the time, "I've been out for a while, I have to go back to take care of Zuo Zuo, please make yourselves at home." With that, he walked towards the ward.

Yan Zuozuo was still asleep, but her brows were tightly furrowed, indicating she was sleeping restlessly. Chi Moqing sighed and tenderly stroked her little face. He had known about He Cangyuan and Yan's mother's past for a long time, but he didn't want to tell Yan Zuozuo everything. In his heart, he only wanted her to be happy; as for those troublesome matters, he would handle them.

Yan Zuozuo's phone suddenly rang on the bedside table. Chi Moqing was worried about disturbing her sleep, so he quickly answered, "Uncle Mu." He said as he walked out of the ward.

Mu Tianyang was taken aback when he heard his voice, then said happily, "Mo Qing, you didn't come to work today?"

“Okay, I’ll rest,” Chi Moqing said.

Mu Tianyang smiled and said, "That's right. We should balance work and rest. No matter how busy we are at work, we should spend more time with our families and relax."

“Uncle Mu is right.” Chi Moqing smiled. “What do you need Zuo Zuo for? She just fell asleep, so it might be inconvenient for her to answer the phone.”

Mu Tianyang sighed: "Is Zuo Zuo still angry with your mother?"

“Why would my daughter be angry with me? She’s really sleeping.”

Mu Tianyang nodded in understanding: "Your mother was agitated just now, so don't take it to heart. She's regretting it now, but she's too ashamed to apologize to Zuo Zuo, so she asked me to make a call. Why don't you come back tonight and make some soup for Zuo Zuo to nourish herself?"

Chi Moqing frowned: "I'm afraid I can't go these next few days. Zuo Zuo is in the hospital, and the doctor wants her to rest in bed."

Mu Tianyang was taken aback, and Yan's mother, who was sitting to the side, became anxious, "What happened? Did your mother upset you just now?"

"No, Uncle Mu. It was just a minor accident, so it's not advisable to move around for the next few days."

Ms. Yan panicked and snatched the phone, demanding, "What happened? What happened? Why didn't you call to say you were in the hospital? Are you alright?"

"Mom, everything's alright now, don't worry," Chi Moqing said reassuringly.

Just then, Chi Moqing saw He Cangyuan, who hadn't left, walking over, as if he was waiting for him.

"How can we not be anxious? Which hospital is it? I'm coming right now," said Yan's mother anxiously.

Helpless, Chi Moqing had no choice but to tell her the address. Sure enough, he had just hung up when he saw He Cangyuan approaching. He looked at him, "Dean He hasn't left yet?"

He Cangyuan glanced at Yan Zuozuo's ward: "Madam Chi is sick. I bought some fruit and wanted to go in and visit her. Also, why did you come all the way to this hospital? Why not transfer her to my place? It would be more convenient for me to take care of her."

"Thank you for your kindness, Dean He, but it's not necessary. Zuo Zuo needs to rest, and she's fine here," he said calmly.

“But this place is far from President Chi’s home; the municipal hospital would be closer,” He Cangyuan quickly said.

Chi Moqing stared at him intently, his face expressionless, and said, "My wife almost miscarried after meeting with Dean He. I don't think transferring her to another hospital would be a good idea." With that, he turned and went back to his room.

Outside the door, He Cangyuan's face was grim. Now things were really messed up; not only had he failed to threaten Yan Zuozuo, he'd also offended Chi Moqing. He gritted his teeth, his eyes darting around. No, he had to find a way to see Yan Zuozuo again. If he couldn't get the Chi family's money, he really should go to jail.

When Mu Tianyang and Yan's mother arrived, Yan Zuozuo was still unconscious. Chi Moqing called the doctor and briefly explained Yan Zuozuo's condition to them, which put Yan's mother at ease.

She walked into the ward, sat on the edge of the bed, and looked at Yan Zuozuo, who was pale. She felt extremely annoyed and wished she could slap herself twice.

Mu Tianyang noticed her distress, went over and hugged her tenderly, gently comforting her, "Don't be sad, the baby is fine."

Yan's mother held Yan Zuozuo's hand, her face full of worry.

Yan Zuozuo slowly woke up and saw Mu Tianyang and her mother sitting by the bed. She was taken aback and asked, "Uncle Mu, Mom, what brings you here?" She looked at Chi Moqing standing to the side in confusion.

When Yan's mother saw that she was awake, her eyes were red. "Zuo Zuo, right? It's all Mom's fault."

It took Yan Zuozuo a while to react: "Mom, I'm fine."

"It's all my fault, I shouldn't have said those awful things. Please forgive me, okay? You'll always be my good daughter," Yan's mother said, choking back tears as she hugged Yan Zuozuo.

“You will always be my mom,” Yan Zuozuo said with a smile.

Seeing that Yan Zuozuo was alright, Mu Tianyang and Yan's mother left the hospital. Just before getting into the car, Yan's mother seemed to remember something and quickly said, "The pig's trotter soup should be drunk while it's hot. Pregnant women are prone to calcium deficiency, and drinking this will help supplement calcium. You should go back home tomorrow, and I'll stew two pigeons for you. You've had a tough time lately, so I'll make sure you have some nourishing food when you get back."

Chi Moqing nodded repeatedly, "Thank you, Mom."

As luck would have it, just as Yan's mother was talking to Chi Moqing by the car, the owner of the car parked next to them came over. Yan's mother and the other person were both taken aback when they saw each other, and Mu Tianyang and Chi Moqing were also stunned.

Before anyone could react, Yan's mother suddenly took a few steps forward.

Snapped!

A crisp, loud slap landed on He Cangyuan's face, turning his face to the side and leaving it red and swollen.

Time seemed to stand still, and everyone passing by looked in this direction.

Mother Yan had put all her strength into that slap, as evidenced by the bright red handprint on He Cangyuan's face. She was truly angry; her chest heaved violently, and her eyes were bloodshot as she glared at He Cangyuan.

"You scum, what right do you have to come here and threaten my daughter? If you have better options, then get out of here and enjoy your wealth and luxury. What nonsense are you spouting in front of my daughter? You filthy bastard, do you want me to tell you all the things you did back then?!"

Mother Yan was on the verge of a breakdown, glaring at him with sharp eyes as she roared, "My shameful past? What shameful past do I have? You made all that up! You bastard, I'm warning you, you better stay away from us, mother and daughter, and don't sully our eyes. Otherwise, I'll go to the TV station right now and expose your despicable deeds, so you'll never be able to hold your head up high again!"

He Cangyuan's lips were pressed tightly together. He felt good being scolded, but he didn't dare to say a word in rebuttal. The handprint on his face grew increasingly bright red, which was quite frightening.

After finishing her tirade, Mrs. Yan nearly fainted, but Mu Tianyang caught her just in time. He gave He Cangyuan a cold look and said, "If you hadn't sown discord back then, my wife wouldn't have died. You're a murderer." With that, he carried Mrs. Yan into the car and drove away.

Chi Moqing watched Mu Tianyang and Mother Yan leave, glanced back at He Cangyuan, and then walked away. Not far away, Qi Jiahui saw everything. He narrowed his eyes, and a wicked smile slowly crept onto his lips.
