Exclusive Pampered Wife: My Wife Came to My Door

Chapter 72 A chance encounter in the hospital

Back in her seat, Yan Zuozuo felt utterly drained. She stared at her phone for a long time before finally picking it up and calling Chi Moqing, "Are you busy?"

Chi Moqing sensed the dejection in her voice and asked with concern, "What's wrong?"

Yan Zuozuo lowered her eyes, feeling very sad. She bit her lip and said, "Chi Moqing, I've changed my mind. How about I go work there?"

Chi Moqing chuckled softly, "Alright."

Yan Zuozuo smiled, then paused and said seriously, "Chi Moqing, I..."

"Call me husband," Chi Moqing interrupted her, speaking in a serious tone.

Yan Zuozuo was taken aback, then smiled helplessly, "Okay, honey, I want to ask you something."

Her voice was soft and gentle, and when she called him "husband," Chi Moqing felt a surge of tenderness in his heart. "What is it?"

Yan Zuozuo felt a little awkward and shy when she heard his voice, which was so soft it was almost dripping with tenderness. After a moment of silence, she returned to the previous topic, "If I wanted you to manipulate the bidding process and award the contract to Fanhua Design, would you agree?"

Chi Moqing paused, seemingly surprised, and after a long while asked, "You really hope so?"

Yan Zuozuo shook her head, sighed, and said, "I don't want that." Even though things had developed to this point, she never thought of letting him abuse his power, otherwise she wouldn't have kept delaying and making excuses to refuse the design director.

Chi Moqing smiled and said, "If you wish, I can agree. But you have to tell me what happened."

Yan Zuozuo lowered her eyes and said calmly, "I did have a problem at work, but I don't want you to do that."

She suddenly felt like a complete failure as a person. In her twenty-six years of life, besides Fu Zixin, her only close friend, she had almost no truly confidants. If everything were peaceful, that would be one thing, but there were always people stabbing her in the back. Was she really such a failure?

“If you’re tired, take a break. I’ll arrange for you to go back to work whenever you want. I have the ability to support you for the rest of your life. Even if you want to buy designer brands or a luxury house, I can satisfy your needs,” Chi Moqing said confidently.

Yan Zuozuo felt a warmth in her heart. With such a gentle and considerate man as her support, what did she have to be afraid of? She smiled, feeling much better. "Are you encouraging me to spend money recklessly?"

"I'm not worried about you being a spendthrift, I'm just afraid you'll be too meticulous with your money and won't give me the chance to pamper you."

Yan Zuozuo felt a sweet warmth in her heart, and a smile spread across her face. She chatted with Chi Moqing for a while longer until he had to go to a meeting, at which point she hung up.

The saying "misfortunes never come singly" is often used to describe how good fortune never comes in pairs, and this certainly proved true for Yan Zuozuo. Before the leaked design plans had even been properly investigated, her mother was hospitalized. The call was from Mu Tianyang, catching her completely off guard.

Rushing to the hospital in a panic, Yan Zuozuo even forgot to ask for leave. When she arrived at the hospital, Mu Tianyang was outside the emergency room. She ran over and hurriedly asked, "What happened to my mother?"

Mu Tianyang comforted her, "Don't worry, your mother will be fine. She probably just fainted because she's been too busy these past few days and hasn't been getting enough rest. Sit down and let's wait together."

Yan Zuozuo was almost in tears, sitting anxiously on a nearby chair, her eyes fixed on the emergency room door. After a long while, she remembered that she hadn't thanked Mu Tianyang, and forced herself to remain calm as she said, "Uncle Mu, thank you."

"Of course, I think you know that too..." Before Mu Tianyang could finish speaking, the emergency room door opened, so Yan Zuozuo didn't hear what he said afterward.

She rushed over, grabbed the doctor's hand, and asked, "How is my mother?"

"Are you a family member of the patient?" Yan Zuozuo nodded eagerly, and then heard the doctor say, "It's nothing serious. She was probably just too tired and under too much mental stress, which caused her to faint. However, I still suggest that the patient be hospitalized for a few days for observation and to have a full check-up. After all, she is old, and if there is any problem, it's better to detect and treat it early."

Yan Zuozuo breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that everything was alright, and quickly nodded, "Okay, I'll do whatever the doctor says."

When Yan's mother woke up, she had already been wheeled into the ward. She looked around dazedly, her eyes slowly regaining focus, and stared blankly at Yan Zuozuo, "Where is this, Zuozuo? What are you doing here?"

"This is a hospital. You fainted before, remember?" Yan Zuozuo's nose tingled, and her eyes reddened. Now that she thought about it, her mother was all alone in their hometown. If something really happened to her, there would be no one to help. How terrifying.

Mother Yan was stunned for a moment, then remembered that she had come to buy goods earlier and planned to visit Yan Zuozuo while she was there. But as soon as she got out of the car, she felt a dizzying sensation in her head, her vision went black, and she couldn't remember anything.

"Mom, you scared me to death!" Yan Zuozuo rushed over, tears streaming down her face. She had just received a call from Mu Tianyang and didn't even remember how she got to the hospital; her heart was entirely with her mother.

Yan's mother hugged her and reached out to wipe away her tears. "You're so old, why are you still crying? I'm fine."

"Don't even mention the child's worry, I was startled by you. If I hadn't come with you today, who knows what might have happened. It's too dangerous for you to be alone," Mu Tianyang said as he walked in.

Yan's mother glared at him: "Don't talk nonsense, you'll scare Zuo Zuo."

"I'm not just making this up. You're so old; this kind of thing isn't impossible. If you ask me..."

"Don't say anything. Alright, alright, Zuo Zuo is here. I have someone to keep me company. Aren't you going to see Yao Qian? Go on." As if she was trying to hide something, Yan's mother quickly interrupted Mu Tianyang and urged him to leave.

Mu Tianyang shook his head with amusement and muttered to himself, "It'll have to be said sooner or later."

"What did you say?" Yan Zuozuo asked curiously, only to see her mother blush and give Mu Tianyang a wink, "Let's go, let's go."

Mu Tianyang smiled wryly: "Alright, I'll leave then. Zuo Zuo, spend some time with your mother. I'll come over tonight to relieve you."

Yan Zuozuo was taken aback, and before she could figure out what this meant, Mu Tianyang left. This was her mother, and it was only right that she took care of her, but for Mu Tianyang to come and take care of her at night... the implications were a bit... complicated, weren't they?

She turned her head and looked at Yan's mother with a strange expression, "You..."

"I feel a little dizzy, I'll take a nap first. I'm fine, you go and do your thing," Yan's mother quickly said.

The more she acted this way, the more suspicious Yan Zuozuo became, looking at her mockingly, "Mom, running away like this isn't a solution. Don't you think you should explain something to me?"

"Explain what?" Mother Yan turned her head away guiltily and scolded in a low voice, "Don't overthink it."

Yan Zuozuo looked at her mother's slightly flushed face with amusement, but didn't press her. She just shrugged and said, "I wasn't thinking anything. Okay, Mom, you're not feeling well, go to sleep. I'll stay here with you."

"No need, I'm fine now. Go about your business."

Yan Zuozuo remained seated, took the fruit that Mu Tianyang had just bought, and peeled it for Yan's mother. "Actually, Uncle Mu is a very good person. He is successful in his career and gentle and considerate. Anyone who marries him will definitely be very happy."

Yan's mother blushed and remained silent, turning her back to Yan Zuozuo. Yan Zuozuo found it amusing and said to herself, "It just so happens that Mom and Uncle Mu are about the same age, it would be nice if they could keep each other company."

Yan's mother remained silent, nervously wondering if Zuo Zuo had found out. She was already so old; she couldn't possibly bring herself to tell her daughter that she was going to remarry.

Yan Zuozuo wasn't in a hurry. She handed the cut fruit to her mother and said, "You eat first, I'm going out for a bit."

"What are you doing?" Yan's mother finally spoke, her face still flushed. Yan Zuozuo knew she had guessed right, but she hadn't expected her mother to be so embarrassed. She suppressed a laugh and said, "The doctor suggested you stay in the hospital for observation for a few days. I'm going to the supermarket."

Yan Zuozuo told the nurse to watch over her mother before leaving. When she finished shopping and was about to go home, she heard someone call her name. She turned around and was met with Qi Jiahui's repulsive face.

Qi Jiahui was also surprised to run into Yan Zuozuo here and couldn't help but call out. But he regretted it as soon as he opened his mouth. The reason he was here today was because the girl he was secretly keeping was pregnant, and he was accompanying her to have an abortion. It would be bad if Yan Zuozuo found out. But he had already called out, and Yan Zuozuo had seen him. There was no way to run away, so he could only bite the bullet and go over.

Yan Zuozuo frowned, not wanting to pay him any attention, but Qi Jiahui had already walked up to her. "What a coincidence, are you here to see someone?"

"Well, if there's nothing else, I'll be going now." She didn't want to say any more to him.

"Zuo Zuo, wait a minute." Seeing that she was about to leave, Qi Jia Hui quickly stopped her.

Yan Zuozuo turned around impatiently, her expression distant. "Is there anything else?"

Qi Jiahui didn't know what else he wanted to do, but since he had finally seen her, he instinctively wanted to chat a bit more. He smiled, "Who's in the hospital? Is it one of our colleagues? I'll go with you..."

"No, I don't need it!" Yan Zuozuo interrupted him directly, saying expressionlessly, "You don't know anyone."

Qi Jiahui gave an awkward laugh: "Are you from President Chi's side?"

"What's it to you? Qi Jiahui, you're getting married, you should be worried about He Xinrui. If there's nothing else, I'll be going now." She turned to leave, but Qi Jiahui wouldn't let go.

Since what happened last time, he could sense that Yan Zuozuo was becoming increasingly distant from him, even unwilling to say a word to him. But he just couldn't let her go, and he couldn't allow this situation to continue. There were other people at the company, so he didn't dare openly disturb her, but now it was just the two of them here.

"Zuo Zuo, I know I was wrong last time. I apologize to you. Please don't be angry anymore, okay?" he said, lowering his tone.

Yan Zuozuo shook off his grip, turned around and sneered, "I've already forgotten. Are you done? I have something else to do."

"Zuo Zuo, don't be so cold to me. I know you're still angry about what happened last time. Actually, you still care about me. Don't deceive yourself. He Xinrui and I will get a divorce. Wait for me."

Yan Zuozuo rolled her eyes with amusement. Just as she was about to ask him where his confidence came from, she heard a familiar and pleasant voice coming from behind her, "Mr. Qi is really persistent."

Upon hearing this, Qi Jiahui looked up and met Chi Moqing's indifferent expression, his body stiffening.

Chi Moqing's eyes were filled with tenderness as he looked at Yan Zuozuo. Ignoring Qi Jiahui's astonished expression, he reached out and took the things from her hands. "Why did you come to the hospital?"

Yan Zuozuo glanced at Qi Jiahui, not wanting him to have an excuse to approach their family, and smiled, saying, "It depends on the person. What about you?"

“One of our employees is hospitalized, so I came to check on them.” Chi Moqing naturally wrapped his arm around Yan Zuozuo’s waist and asked in a low voice, “Who are you here to see? I’ll come with you.”

Yan Zuozuo nodded and took his hand, leading him towards the ward. This infuriated Qi Jiahui, who was standing to the side. They hadn't taken him seriously at all, not even saying goodbye before leaving. He clenched his fists, glaring hatefully at Chi Moqing. No matter what, he would never give up on Yan Zuozuo!
