Exclusive Pampered Wife: My Wife Came to My Door
Chapter 69 Returning Home to See Father
"Alright, to make up for your injured little heart, I'll cook for you tonight and take good care of you, is that alright?" Chi Moqing reached out and wiped the grime off her face. "You don't always have to think about changing the menu for me. I can cook for myself if I want to eat something. Look at the state you've made yourself. It's a good thing nothing serious happened, otherwise I would be the one heartbroken."
Yan Zuozuo nodded aggrievedly, hugged his waist and said, "Chi Moqing, what should I do? I feel like I like you much, much more than just like you."
“You’re my wife, so you should love me a lot.” Chi Moqing mimicked her words, then suddenly swept her up in a princess carry and carried her to the living room, placing her gently on the sofa. “Your Majesty, you can stay here and watch TV and have some snacks while I prepare dinner for you.”
Yan Zuozuo looked at him amusedly: "Should I say 'Goodbye'?"
"You naughty girl!" Chi Moqing pinched her nose, got up and went into the kitchen.
Ever since Cai Qingqing challenged her to a marriage proposal, Yan Zuozuo has been reflecting on their marriage. Although their beginnings were unconventional, they are now living well and intend to spend their lives together. Therefore, she can't just enjoy Chi Moqing's sacrifices and dump everything on him; she also needs to learn to give back, for only then can their marriage last. The process might be a bit tough, but as long as there is hope, she believes everything will be alright.
Although she burned a dish and was teased by Chi Moqing, she understood the situation and felt it was all worthwhile.
During the meal, Yan Zuozuo was clearly in a good mood. Chi Moqing couldn't help but ask her what was making her happy, and she raised her chin, "I won't tell you." She had figured it out; no matter what, she wouldn't give up a man as good as Chi Moqing to anyone else. If anyone wanted to take him from her, let them try; she wasn't afraid.
Seeing her proudly strutting down like a little tail, Chi Moqing patted her head with amusement. "Tsk tsk, so you have a little secret now. From now on, I won't tell you any of my secrets either, but you're not allowed to cry."
"You are not allowed to have any secrets. You are mine, and your secrets are mine too, so you have to tell me everything." Relying on Chi Moqing's doting, Yan Zuozuo became increasingly arrogant and domineering.
"Then you're not mine anymore?" Chi Moqing asked, amused. Yan Zuozuo's face contorted in distress. "I am yours, but my secrets are still mine."
"That's so unfair!" Chi Moqing protested, looking at her resentfully.
Yan Zuozuo burst out laughing: "I'm just being fair, I'm just being unfair."
Seeing her adorable, self-assured expression, Chi Moqing couldn't help but chuckle. The next second, she kissed his lips, her long tongue plunging in, her passion almost melting them both.
Yan Zuozuo was breathless from the kisses and it took her a while to recover. Sitting in Chi Moqing's lap, her ear pressed against his chest, she said somewhat resentfully, "Since we got married, you've been the one taking care of me and cleaning up after me. It feels like I haven't done anything." Thinking about it now, it really hurts.
Chi Moqing raised an eyebrow, not understanding why she would think of this. He stroked her delicate, smooth hand for a while before saying softly, "We're husband and wife. Does it really matter who gives more or less? When I was sick, you took care of me; when I came home at night, you cooked dinner for me; you made me happy and worried about me—all of this is your contribution. Just as I clean up after you, it's all for the sake of our marriage going further and better. Why bother about these little things?"
"But……"
"Even if you stay home and do nothing, just knowing that there's someone waiting for me at home will make me happy. Even if I have to give more, I'll do it willingly because we're husband and wife, people who will spend their lives together." After a pause, Chi Moqing looked earnestly into Yan Zuozuo's eyes and said, "A sweet burden, do you understand?"
Yan Zuozuo nodded, completely baffled by her good fortune in her past life, having unexpectedly found such a gentle and considerate man. She hadn't held out much hope for this marriage, but now she couldn't bear to let go, only wanting to be his wife for life, to give him several adorable children, and for their family to live happily ever after.
She reached out and stroked his forehead, eyebrows, nose, and mouth, a gentle smile spreading across her face. "I understand."
Chi Moqing smiled, took her hand and kissed it, then leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Wife, now that we've finished chatting, shouldn't we continue our efforts to have a baby?"
Yan Zuozuo, who was just deeply moved, suddenly had a twitch at the corner of her mouth.
Men, you beasts!
Yan Zuozuo got up very early on the weekend. Since getting married, she rarely went back to see her mother, so she decided to go back and visit her these two days, and also to see who this Mr. Mu was.
In the car, Yan Zuozuo had mixed feelings. Seeing Mu Yaoqian's expression, she couldn't bring herself to think positively of Mu Tianyang. But if her mother liked him, should she stop it?
Chi Moqing smiled and took her hand, trying to calm her down. "Maybe they're just friends. You're too nervous. Even if they were to be together, as long as the elders are happy, there's no point in thinking so much."
"That's true, but that's my mom's future. How can I not worry?" She pouted, complaining. "Besides, Mu Yaoqian doesn't like my mom. Wouldn't it be awkward for my mom to marry into that family?"
Chi Moqing smiled and said, "Since Mr. Mu has the ability to marry Mom, he must also have the ability to take care of her. Mom is not stupid. If Mr. Mu were not a responsible man, I believe Mom would not have married him."
"Maybe." Yan Zuozuo nodded thoughtfully, but she was still very nervous.
An hour later, Yan Zuozuo appeared at her mother's flower shop, hand in hand with Chi Moqing. As luck would have it, Mu Yaoqian's father was also there. Seeing them return, Yan's mother happily invited them inside and introduced them to each other.
Yan Zuozuo quickly glanced at Mu Tianyang; his appearance, demeanor, and speech were all excellent. However, her character was questionable, as she didn't like Mu Yaoqian.
"Hello, you must be Zuo Zuo. Your mother often mentions you?" Mu Tianyang smiled, giving off a warm feeling.
"Hello." Yan Zuozuo felt depressed. Her mother often mentioned her, so did that mean they had to be together all the time?
She pondered for a moment, then glanced at Chi Moqing.
Chi Moqing shook hands with Mu Tianyang, chatted for a few words, and then handed the things they brought to Mother Yan.
"You're here, why bring anything? You must be tired from the journey, have some water and rest for a while," said Yan's mother, taking the things from her.
Mu Tianyang got up, intending to leave, but was stopped by Yan's mother. "You won't eat properly if you go back alone. Stay and eat with us. We're not strangers."
Yan Zuozuo was stunned. Although Mu Tianyang gave her a good impression, being calm and easy-going, she couldn't possibly say he was one of her own, could she? Or had he been with Yan's mother for a long time?
During the meal, Yan's mother brought up Mu Tianyang's daughter, "Yao Qian is also a designer, in the same profession as you, do you know her?"
Yan Zuozuo nodded and smiled: "We know each other, we're colleagues."
Mu Tianyang was clearly surprised and immediately said he would visit them with Yan's mother next time. Yan Zuozuo smiled and agreed, her opinion of Mu Tianyang rising even higher. Successful, wise, refined, and approachable—he really was a good match for Yan's mother.
While Mu Tianyang was talking to Yan's mother, she leaned close to Chi Moqing and whispered, "It's not impossible for him to be my stepfather. At least he's much better than He Cangyuan."
Chi Moqing smiled but remained silent.
They drove back in the afternoon. On the way, Yan Zuozuo idly counted on her fingers, feeling troubled again as she recalled her probing questions to her mother. "Mom is so shrewd. I asked her for ages but still couldn't figure out their relationship."
Chi Moqing shook his head with a chuckle: "These things should be left to nature."
"I know, but I'm just curious." Yan Zuozuo stretched and leaned back in her chair, feeling a little sleepy because she had gotten up so early.
Chi Moqing reached out and hugged her: "If you're tired, take a nap. I'll wake you up when we get home."
Yan Zuozuo closed her eyes peacefully and settled into a sleeping position. But not long after, she opened her eyes again and said in distress, "I can't sleep."
Chi Moqing couldn't help but laugh out loud. Sometimes he really doubted whether Yan Zuozuo was 26 years old. He thought she was like a child who never grew up, which was very cute.
The overseas cooperation project that Chi Moqing had been striving for was finally finalized, adding another significant chapter to the Chi family's economic empire in Europe. This was facilitated by Cai Yaren, for whom Chi Moqing was very grateful and gave him one percent of the profits.
In the office, Cai Yaren once again marveled at Chi Moqing's business acumen. "Chi's Group has been established for five years, hasn't it? Time really flies. Back when I lent you money, you were just a greenhorn with no experience in making money. But now you've already made Chi's Group a name known overseas. You're truly a force to be reckoned with."
"Uncle Cai, you flatter me. Without your help back then, I wouldn't be where I am today," Chi Moqing replied calmly, his face serene.
Cai Yaren shook his head with a smile: "I did have my own selfish reasons back then. You were young and promising, and Qingqing liked you. I was very happy to see you two together. Even after Qingqing left, my feelings didn't change." He smiled helplessly as he spoke, "I just didn't expect it to turn out like this in the end."
“Life is unpredictable.” Chi Moqing said calmly, and then Cai Yaren said with deep emotion, “Indeed, life is unpredictable. Well, it’s getting late, I should go. Let’s get to work.”
Watching Cai Yaren's dejected figure as he left, a complex emotion flashed in Chi Moqing's eyes. Before, they could talk about anything, but now, because of Cai Qingqing, he even had to be careful what he said. Life is truly unpredictable.
When Chi Moqing got home, he saw Yan Zuozuo sitting on the sofa, her lips pouting so high they could practically hold a cow. He walked over, sat down beside her, and asked with concern, "What happened?"
Yan Zuozuo glared at him angrily and said, "Do you know what the police's conclusion was about the matter of me being locked up? They said they couldn't find any clues or suspects. This is clearly official collusion. How can they go so far?"
Chi Moqing understood. It seemed that Cai Yaren had been behind it all. No wonder he hadn't seemed very confident earlier. He reached out and hugged Yan Zuozuo. "I'll contact the police again. We have to catch this person no matter what." As he spoke, he went to make a call, but Yan Zuozuo stopped him. "Wait."
