Yan Zuozuo was taken aback, and asked uncertainly, "Zixin?"

"Hey, it's only been a short time since we last met, and you've already forgotten me? That's really heartbreaking." Fu Zixin's voice sounded cheerful, but Yan Zuozuo only felt a stinging pain in her nose. She took a deep breath and forced back her tears. "You heartless bastard, you still know to call me. I thought you had died out there and weren't planning to come back."

She had tried calling Fu Zixin several times in the past few days, but her phone had been switched off and eventually became a disconnected number. This made Yan Zuozuo extremely worried about not being able to reach her, which led to Chi Moqing getting very angry.

"I already contacted you, why are you being so petty?" Fu Zixin sounded to be in a good mood. "By the way, this is my new number, remember to save it."

"I know," Yan Zuozuo replied. "Are you doing alright over there?"

"Do I sound like a bad person?" Fu Zixin said with a smile. "What I've heard and seen here during this time has deeply shaken my soul. There's smoke and fire everywhere, people are displaced, struggling to find food, and constantly worrying about their lives. Compared to all this, I suddenly feel that all those romantic relationships are insignificant. I'm so glad I chose to come here. If I hadn't seen all this, I might have spent my whole life trapped in that insignificant cycle."

Listening to Fu Zixin's endless recounting of what she had seen and heard, Yan Zuozuo sighed. She couldn't say whether Fu Zixin's change was good or bad; she was in a much better mood than before she left. But what she truly cared about seemed to have changed. She was like someone who had seen through everything and detached herself from worldly affairs, which worried Yan Zuozuo.

“Zuo Zuo, don’t worry about me, I’m doing fine here. By the way, do you know who I ran into here? Su Kang, the old classmate we met last time. It turns out his company has a branch here, and he’s here to oversee things. Isn’t that a coincidence?” Fu Zixin said happily. “So I’m eating and drinking for free here, and I go to see this guy.”

Yan Zuozuo was stunned. Why didn't she feel that this was a coincidence at all? Instead, it seemed like someone could arrange it. However, Su Kang was indeed a good prospect. He was of good character, quick-witted, and most importantly, single. If they could develop a revolutionary bond amidst the flames of war, it would be a wonderful story.

After lunch, Yan Zuozuo was heading back to her office when she bumped into Cai Keren again. Cai Keren glanced at her disdainfully and stood firmly in front of her, saying, "Yan Zuozuo, you really have no shame in your actions."

"What do I have to be uneasy about?" Yan Zuozuo glanced at her indifferently.

"I heard Cai Qingqing almost jumped off a building." She said this with a hint of schadenfreude.

"Does it have anything to do with me?"

"It's because you stole Chi Moqing that Cai Qingqing became so despondent that she wanted to jump off a building. Don't you feel any guilt at all?" Cai Keren looked at her mockingly.

"First of all, she didn't jump off the building; secondly, why should I feel guilty about someone else's so-called suicide? She didn't even take responsibility for her own life, so why should I take responsibility?"

"You!" Cai Keren was speechless after being rebuked by her, and could only glare at her resentfully.

Yan Zuozuo smiled indifferently: "Besides, she and Chi Moqing have been unable to be together for more than ten years. Do you really think they will get together in another ten or twenty years?"

Cai Keren remained silent, staring intently at Yan Zuozuo with a complex expression. Yan Zuozuo tilted her head to look at her, "Do you really want Cai Qingqing to be happy? If I'm not mistaken, the person you hate the most should be her, right?"

Cai Keren stiffened, her voice changing, "What do you mean by that?"

Yan Zuozuo smiled and said, "It's nothing." After saying that, she returned to her seat, leaving Cai Keren with a strange expression.

Because the villa was very close to the Blooming Flowers Design Center, only a ten-minute walk away, it saved Chi Moqing the trouble of always picking her up and dropping her off. They happened to pass a supermarket on the way, so Yan Zuozuo could buy groceries on her way home.

She got home and was about to change when she opened the closet and remembered the madness of the night before, to the point that they hadn't even had time to tidy up their clothes. Her face flushed, and she couldn't help but mutter under her breath, "Chi Moqing, you big bad guy."

She placed the clothes into the closet one by one, when suddenly a wad of black silk fell out. Yan Zuozuo picked it up curiously, and her face flushed bright red when she opened the garment. This...this...this wasn't the wedding gift Fu Zixin had given her!

Thinking of that dress, Yan Zuozuo still gritted her teeth in hatred. Wait, wait, wait, all these clothes were packed and organized by Chi Moqing, so this sexy lingerie was also taken by him?

Oh my god, she's going to die! What did he want to do with it? Did he think she wasn't embarrassed enough last time?

"What are you doing?" Chi Moqing appeared behind her at some point, speaking with a half-smile.

"Ah! You, you, you, when did you come in?" Yan Zuozuo was so frightened that she quickly hid the bundle of pajamas behind her back.

"I just got back a short while ago." Chi Moqing smiled, pointed behind her, and asked, "What's that?"

"N-nothing, well, I've already bought the groceries. Go and prepare the vegetables, I'll cook in a bit," Yan Zuozuo said guiltily.

Chi Moqing raised an eyebrow; he had already seen the pajamas she had hidden. A slight smile played on his lips, but he didn't say anything. He turned and walked towards the kitchen. Yan Zuozuo finally breathed a sigh of relief, racking her brains for a way to destroy the evidence.

Chi Moqing didn't wait for Yan Zuozuo to cook; instead, he started cooking himself. Seeing that she had no use for it, Yan Zuozuo sorted the documents and books Chi Moqing had brought and arranged them in the study. These things didn't seem like much, but organizing them was quite laborious. Before long, she was panting heavily, sitting in her swivel chair, gasping for breath.

She casually flipped through one of the documents and inadvertently came across an investigation into Cai Yaren. She was stunned. Could it be? She had only ever seen Cai Qingqing and Cai Keren arguing in the street and guessed that they must have some kind of conflict, which was why she had said those things to Cai Keren. But she never imagined that their relationship was far more complicated than she had thought.

Cai Keren is actually the daughter of Cai Yaren's ex-wife. She left with her ex-wife during their divorce. This news is absolutely explosive! But given Cai Keren's character, why wouldn't she take advantage of such good resources? Instead, she's with an old man like the CEO. Or perhaps, she has no idea about her own background?

She heard Chi Moqing calling her to dinner from outside, and Yan Zuozuo responded and went outside. Since the information was in Chi Moqing's hands, he should know about the relationship between Cai Keren and Cai Yaren.

During the meal, she would glance at Chi Moqing from time to time, and several times she seemed about to say something but then stopped herself.

Chi Moqing looked at her curiously: "What do you want to say?"

Yan Zuozuo chuckled, touched her nose, and said, "Chi Moqing, can I ask you some gossip?"

Chi Moqing raised an eyebrow, clearly displeased with her form of address, and snorted, "Chi Moqing?"

Yan Zuozuo was taken aback, then quickly smiled ingratiatingly, "Honey, can I ask you some gossip?"

"Tell me." Chi Moqing didn't refuse, which greatly encouraged Yan Zuozuo. She snuggled closer to him like a fawning dog and then asked, "Is Cai Keren Uncle Cai's daughter?"

Chi Moqing looked into her bright, sparkling eyes, like a dog waiting for its owner to feed it. He wanted to laugh, but pretended to be serious and said, "You really want to know?"

Yan Zuozuo nodded immediately, and Chi Moqing pretended to be puzzled for a while before saying, "These are other people's private matters. Wouldn't it be inappropriate for me to reveal them to you?"

“But we’re husband and wife.” Yan Zuozuo said coquettishly, shaking Chi Moqing’s arm.

Chi Moqing suppressed a laugh and said, "That's very immoral. If you want me to sell my integrity, I'll have to offer some kind of bribe."

Yan Zuozuo felt a chill run down her spine for no apparent reason, especially when she met the malicious smile of that cunning fox. But curiosity killed the cat, and she couldn't help but ask, "What kind of bribe?"

Chi Moqing pretended to ponder, touching his chin, then moved closer to her and whispered, "You're wearing that sexy nightgown tonight, hmm?"

"Chi Moqing!" Yan Zuozuo's face turned as red as a tomato, her eyes wide open as she glared at him angrily. "You, you, you, you, you are shameless!"

“It’s also shameless to leak other people’s privacy.” Chi Moqing looked troubled.

Yan Zuozuo gritted her teeth and said, "I'm not going to tell anyone, I'm just curious."

"Yeah, I don't know how to do anything, I just want to see."

"I'd believe you if I ever did!" Yan Zuozuo muttered shyly, then looked at Chi Moqing with her big, watery eyes, pleadingly, "How about we change the terms?"

Chi Moqing looked at her with a half-smile, without saying a word. Yan Zuozuo glared at him angrily, "Fine, I won't say anything then. I can find out myself anyway." After saying that, she secretly glanced at Chi Moqing, but he still didn't say anything, his nonchalant attitude was incredibly irritating.

Yan Zuozuo angrily went to the kitchen to wash the dishes. Chi Moqing stood at the kitchen door for a while, and finally sighed, "Cai Keren's mother had an affair and was caught in bed with another man by Uncle Cai. They divorced quickly. Originally, Uncle Cai wanted to keep Cai Keren, but unexpectedly, Cai Keren's school had a blood test, and Uncle Cai found out that the daughter he had doted on for several years was not his biological daughter. So he gave her to Cai Keren's mother and severed his father-daughter relationship at the same time."

Yan Zuozuo paused in washing the dishes, surprised by Cai Keren's background. "Cai Qingqing was born to your later wife?"

"Hmm." Chi Moqing nodded, and after a while, Yan Zuozuo spoke up, "Cai Keren doesn't know?"

“She should know. She was seven or eight years old when she left. I heard this from my parents.” Chi Moqing walked over, dried the washed dishes, and put them in the cupboard.

"No wonder Cai Keren's personality became twisted." Yan Zuozuo nodded thoughtfully, washed her hands, and went to the refrigerator to get some fruit.

Chi Moqing leaned against the stove, smiling at her, "I've answered all your questions, so tonight..."

"I didn't agree to it, you told me on your own initiative." Yan Zuozuo chuckled, refusing to admit it.

Chi Moqing looked her up and down with ill intent, then pounced on her and tickled her. Yan Zuozuo laughed loudly and begged for mercy. Chi Moqing wouldn't let her go, playing with her like a child.

The phone rang at this inopportune moment; it was Cai Yaren calling. Chi Moqing frowned, already knowing what he wanted to say. Cai Qingqing's suicide threat had failed last time, so she threatened to go on a hunger strike. Cai Yaren had called him more than once, begging him to go see her.

But Chi Moqing remained unmoved. Her life was her own. If she didn't even know how to love herself, why should he compromise for her willfulness? Looking at the numbers jumping up and down, he didn't refuse, because running away was never the solution.

"Uncle Cai," Chi Moqing greeted him as usual.

Cai Yaren sighed, his voice sounding much older. "Mo Qing, please come and see Qingqing. She really misses you, even if it's just once." His tone was full of pleading.
