Exclusive Pampered Wife: My Wife Came to My Door

Chapter 35 Chi Moqing is hospitalized

Since it was Friday, and with Saturday and Sunday in total, Yan Zuozuo felt she should be able to recreate the ring design. So, after get off work, she took her work home.

Just then, they ran into Cai Qingqing, who was taking out the trash. Cai Qingqing invited the couple over for dinner that evening. Yan Zuozuo declined, smiling and saying he had something to do that night. Cai Qingqing didn't want to force him, so they parted ways.

Yan Zuozuo could tell that Cai Qingqing's real intentions weren't what they seemed; she was using the relationship to get closer to Chi Moqing. Perhaps she wanted to return to him, but Chi Moqing's attitude reassured her somewhat. However, if Cai Qingqing persisted, would Chi Moqing remain so resolute? After all, she was his ex-girlfriend…

Yan Zuozuo thought about it uncertainly.

Back home, Yan Zuozuo went straight to her study. She seemed to be gaining weight lately and decided to lose some. She laid out the design drawings and carefully reviewed the original blueprints, revising details she wasn't satisfied with.

She hadn't paid much attention to the time, and by the time she felt tired, it was already past nine o'clock at night. She reached for her glass to get a drink of water, only to find that it was empty.

She stretched and went to the living room to get some water. Just as she reached the top of the stairs, she heard a loud bang. Startled, she quickly went downstairs.

"Chi Moqing!" she exclaimed, and saw him sprawled on the sofa, one hand clutching his stomach and the other reaching for a medicine bottle. His pale face was covered in sweat, and he looked to be in great pain.

She rushed over: "Chi Moqing, what's wrong?" She supported him and tried to get his medicine, but there wasn't a single pill left. She was terrified, her voice trembling, "There...there's nothing else...I'll go get some..."

Chi Moqing shook his head, his face contorted in pain. "No, it's gone."

"What should we do? Go to the hospital... Yes, let's go to the hospital now..." Yan Zuozuo was almost crying in distress. She rummaged through drawers and cabinets to find his medical records and helped him walk to the car.

In the car, Chi Moqing leaned his whole body against her in pain. Yan Zuozuo was both anxious and distressed. They even ran several red lights on the way, but fortunately there weren't many cars at night, so nothing unexpected happened.

At the hospital, the doctor gave him an IV drip and told him to rest. Yan Zuozuo, still worried, gripped the doctor's hand and asked tremblingly, "What happened? Is he alright?"

"The stomach ulcer flared up due to the irritation from alcohol and spicy food. Surgery isn't necessary, but you'll need to stay in the hospital for observation for a few more days. The important thing is to take care of yourself afterward. Try to avoid spicy foods and alcohol," the doctor said.

Yan Zuozuo breathed a sigh of relief, sat down next to Chi Moqing, and felt a pang of sadness seeing his pained expression.

When Chi Moqing woke up, it was already slightly dawn. He turned his head and saw Yan Zuozuo lying by the bed, half asleep. She was still holding his hand tightly, as if afraid she wouldn't know he was awake.

Not wanting to wake her, he quietly got up to pour some water, but even his very gentle movements still woke Yan Zuozuo. Seeing him half-turned to the side, she quickly stood up. "How are you feeling now? Is anything bothering you? Does your stomach still hurt? Do you want some water or something to eat?"

Last night, while he was asleep, she worried he might be hungry when he woke up, so she bought some porridge nearby. If he got hungry, she could heat it up and eat it. She also bought some toiletries; she planned to stay with him at the hospital.

"Water." Chi Moqing tried to force a sound, managing only a weak, hoarse voice. He wanted to tell her not to worry, but his throat felt blocked, and he couldn't speak.

Yan Zuozuo quickly fed him water, and Chi Moqing drank almost half of it before his throat felt a little better. She helped him lie down and asked, "Are you hungry? I'll heat up some porridge for you."

Chi Moqing shook his head, feeling unwell all over, and drifted off to sleep again. When he woke up again, it was already noon the next day. He could still vaguely hear Yan Zuozuo's voice on the phone with the design director, "Yes, he's not feeling well, he's in the hospital now... No, no, it's okay, I can manage on my own, I'm sorry... Okay, next time for sure..."

After Yan Zuozuo finished her call, Chi Moqing smiled apologetically, "I've been having a lot of social engagements lately, and it's been a while since I had a stomachache. I forgot about it, did I scare you?"

Yan Zuozuo shook her head, took a towel to wipe his face and hands, and felt a pang of heartache looking at his pale face. After a pause, she said, "Why did you drink so much?" The only thought that flashed through her mind was related to Cai Qingqing, and her heart suddenly ached.

Seeing her biting her lip, Chi Moqing reached out and freed her lips, then smiled and said, "I had a business dinner last night with a future business partner of the company, which I couldn't refuse."

"You should still drink less, your stomach isn't good." She frowned, wiped his hands, and put the towel in the basin.

Chi Moqing took her hand, and seeing her distressed expression, his heart warmed. He hugged her and said, "I'm sorry." Remembering how she cried so hard last night, he felt a pang of guilt.

Yan Zuozuo rested her head on his shoulder, and after a long while, she finally breathed a sigh of relief, "From now on, don't drink anymore."

Chi Moqing chuckled softly, a tender emotion welling up in his eyes, "Okay, I'll listen to my wife."

Yan Zuozuo blushed immediately after he said that, and got up to empty the water in the washbasin. After a while, she came out and said, "You haven't eaten all day, you must be hungry. I just bought some porridge and a few side dishes, eat a little."

She kept the doctor's instructions in mind and ate only bland food, which made Chi Moqing feel helpless.

Yan Zuozuo's phone rang. It was the CEO calling. "Which hospital are you in? We'd like to go and check on you."

"No need, no need. It's nothing serious. There's no need to trouble the CEO."

“It’s alright. You’re my subordinate. Your family member is sick, how can I not go and see them? Just tell me the address.” The CEO was very persistent, and Yan Zuozuo glanced helplessly at Chi Moqing.

Chi Moqing reached for the phone: "Thank you for your concern. It's nothing serious. My family is here, so there's no need to trouble the CEO... Okay, let's reschedule the dinner for another day. I'll treat... Okay, that's all..."

Before Yan Zuozuo could even come to her senses, Chi Moqing had already hung up the call. She bit her lip and said, "I'm sorry for troubling you."

Chi Moqing looked at her amusedly: "Don't you want to introduce me to your colleagues?"

Yan Zuozuo was taken aback: "Ah, of course not, it's just that your identity..."

"I am your husband." Chi Moqing said firmly. Yan Zuozuo stared at her blankly, then suddenly blushed. "I forgot to buy something yesterday. I'll go to the supermarket."

There was a supermarket right outside the hospital, and Yan Zuozuo hurried out. It wasn't anything essential; she just felt the atmosphere was a bit lively, so she ran out.

At the supermarket, she bought all the things she had forgotten and waited in line to pay. Turning her head, she saw a familiar figure: a petite woman leaning against a man. The man seemed a little impatient, but the woman looked very happy.

Yan Zuozuo stared in shock at the scene. The woman also saw her, a flicker of panic crossing her eyes. The woman was none other than Fu Zixin, who had promised Yan Zuozuo not to ruin anyone else's relationship.

Yan Zuozuo paid the bill but didn't leave immediately. Instead, she texted Fu Zixin to come over. Looking at the man through the glass, she saw a sense of justice in his eyes. His chiseled face, while not conventionally handsome, was undeniably stylish. He was indeed the kind of man Fu Zixin would like—someone who gave a woman a strong sense of security.

Fu Zixin came out quickly and pulled Yan Zuozuo to a corner, saying, "I don't want to talk to you today. Let's contact each other another day."

Yan Zuozuo looked at Fu Zixin with a complicated expression, not giving Fu Zixin a chance to avoid the question, "You're ruining other people's relationships?"

Fu Zixin opened her mouth, her hands clenching tightly at her sides, before finally saying, "I just want to seize an opportunity. If I give up like this without trying, I'll regret it for the rest of my life."

"What about his girlfriend? She deserved to be betrayed?" Yan Zuozuo's tone was colder than ever before. In that instant, she didn't think of Qi Jiahui and He Xinrui, but of Cai Qingqing and Chi Moqing.

“If their feelings are strong enough, there’s no way I could break them up.”

Yan Zuozuo's heart skipped a beat, and she looked at her incredulously, as if she didn't recognize Fu Zixin. "So, you think you're not wrong?" She couldn't accept this statement. Did the third party have to blame the original wife for being stupid after breaking up someone else's family?

She frowned, staring intently at Fu Zixin. "You did nothing wrong, but have you ever considered that your actions are hurting another woman? Even if you're with him, can you really be at peace with yourself? Your happiness is achieved by stepping on others!"

"I'm not!" Fu Zixin raised her voice, looking coldly at Yan Zuozuo. "Just because you've been hurt, does that mean I don't even have the right to pursue happiness? Yan Zuozuo, let me tell you, the winner takes all. Qi Jiahui abandoned you because of your own incompetence, and you can't blame anyone else. But I, Fu Zixin, will never repeat the same mistake!"

Yan Zuozuo was rendered speechless by her retort. She just stared at her, her face a complex mix of emotions. So, Cai Qingqing is back, trying to win back Chi Moqing, and she deserved to lose?

She felt a pang of pain in her heart, an indescribable sorrow.

Fu Zixin knew she had spoken too harshly, but what could she do when she fell in love with that man? She just wanted to try, not wanting to regret not trying and missing out on love. Yan Zuozuo was her friend, so why wouldn't she support her?

Yan Zuozuo lowered her eyes, a bitter smile playing on her lips. "If this is your choice, then I have nothing to say." With that, she picked up her things, turned, and left, leaving Fu Zixin standing there dumbfounded.

She bit her lip, her heart torn between right and wrong. Just then, a dark figure approached, his voice low and deep, yet tinged with distance, "Can we go now? Xiaoyu is waiting for me at home for dinner."

Fu Zixin stared at him blankly: "No matter how hard I try, will you never like me?"

"I will only love Xiaoyu in this life." After saying that, the man got into the car, but Fu Zixin felt cold all over under the scorching sun.

Should she just give up like this? She was unwilling to accept it.

Yan Zuozuo, in a bad mood, carried her things to the hospital. Along the way, she kept reflecting on whether she had really been unfair to Zixin.

Love is something you have to fight for. If you give up without even trying, wouldn't that be a lifelong regret? But that man has a girlfriend, and she can tell that he doesn't have any feelings for Zixin. Is it really a good idea to fight for it like this?

She shook her head in frustration. Before she could even push open the door to the ward, she heard voices coming from inside, sounding like Yan's mother and Chi's mother. She was taken aback. What were they doing here?

"Mom, you..." Yan Zuozuo looked at Chi Moqing, then at them.

"I came to buy some goods. It just so happens that Mo Qing's mother likes fruit tea, so I brought some new ones. I originally called to ask her to have dinner together, but I didn't expect Mo Qing to be hospitalized. I said, you child, Mo Qing has a sensitive stomach, why didn't you take better care of her? You've only been married a short time and you've already sent her to the hospital. You really are something." Yan's mother glared at Yan Zuo Zuo and began her verbal attack.

Yan Zuozuo gave an awkward laugh, then heard Chi's mother say, "How can you blame Zuozuo? It's Moqing's own fault. Knowing he has a sensitive stomach, he still didn't restrain himself. He brought this on himself, and it's really difficult for Zuozuo." As she spoke, Chi's mother pulled Yan Zuozuo aside, her protectiveness evident. She simply liked Yan Zuozuo; the child was quiet, obedient, and sensible. Regardless of how she and Chi Moqing met, she liked her as her daughter-in-law.

Chi Moqing touched his nose. The two parents really had a lot to talk about; every time they met, it was like they were long-lost sisters. He and Yan Zuozuo exchanged a glance and smiled at each other.
