Exclusive Pampered Wife: My Wife Came to My Door

Chapter 30 A Slap in the Face (3)

He didn't need to ask anything; just by looking at the people standing next to He Xinrui and the lone Yan Zuozuo, he knew pretty much what had happened.

Ignoring the astonished looks of the crowd, he walked straight to Yan Zuozuo's side, gently held her in his arms, and whispered, "What happened?"

Yan Zuozuo opened her mouth wide, completely surprised. She hadn't expected her to be here, and for a moment she forgot to speak.

Chi Moqing smiled: "So surprised? Didn't I tell you you'd be coming tonight too?"

Yan Zuozuo shook her head blankly, then heard him chuckle softly, "Remember to ask me next time."

Chi Moqing possessively embraced her, planting a kiss on her forehead. The next second, his gaze towards the crowd was filled with gloom. "Bullying my wife is the same as bullying me, Chi. Can anyone tell me what's going on?"

His words immediately shocked everyone present, and the entire banquet fell into an unbelievable silence.

Yan Zuozuo is actually Chi Moqing's wife, the president's wife of the entire Chi Group?!

Would someone with such a coveted title, who would fight tooth and nail for, seduce Qi Jiahui for a cheap title like "Mrs. Qi"?

That's absolutely unbelievable!

The design director was shocked, and so was Cai Keren. She never imagined that the perfect man she had always wanted but couldn't have was actually Yan Zuozuo's man.

Ha! How ridiculous! Her long, bright red fingernails dug into her flesh, and the hatred in her eyes intensified.

The design director finally came to his senses. No wonder when he called Yan Zuozuo last time to ask why she hadn't gone to celebrate yet, the voice that claimed to be her husband sounded familiar. It turned out to be Chi Moqing.

Although He Cangyuan and He Xinrui knew Yan Zuozuo's identity, they did not think that Yan Zuozuo was the kind of woman who would complain. Or rather, she dared not mention Qi Jiahui to Chi Moqing, which is why they dared to bully her openly.

However, to their surprise, they were caught red-handed by Chi Moqing, and they were naturally terrified. He Xinrui, feigning sadness, pretended to be the one to complain, saying, "Miss Yan is already married, why bother with Jia Hui? How can you save face for President Chi like this..."

Yan Zuozuo's eyes widened in admiration of He Xinrui's ability to twist the truth. She opened her mouth, but before she could speak, she heard Chi Moqing laugh, "Miss He, are you implying that I, Chi, am blind?"

"I...I didn't..." He Xinrui looked at him, puzzled.

Chi Moqing sneered, "If it weren't for that, Miss He, how could my wife possibly be interested in Mr. Qi? His family background, appearance, character, or..." He paused, a flash of anger crossing his eyes as he saw the bloodstains on Qi Jiahui's arm, "Mr. Qi, could you explain what happened to the bite marks on your arm?"

Qi Jiahui nervously avoided Chi Moqing's aggressive gaze, his pupils contracting.

Chi Moqing waited for him to speak calmly, her indifferent gaze sweeping over He Cangyuan's face. "I said I don't want Dean He's son-in-law to harass my wife anymore. It seems Dean He didn't understand."

He Cangyuan was drenched in cold sweat, and he was extremely angry with Qi Jiahui. He forced a smile and said, "It's a misunderstanding, it's all a misunderstanding."

Chi Moqing sneered: "Did you ever consider the possibility of a misunderstanding when you were humiliating my wife?"

He Cangyuan was completely dumbfounded. He never expected that Chi Moqing would go so far as to embarrass him in front of so many people just to protect Yan Zuozuo. He opened his mouth, now filled with regret, wishing he could slap himself a few times.

"Everyone's waiting, Mr. Qi, you'd better make things clear so my wife won't be misunderstood or gossiped about." Chi Moqing said indifferently, his arm around Yan Zuozuo.

Qi Jiahui pursed his lips, his face as pale as paper. He Cangyuan forced a smile and apologized, but Chi Moqing's sharp gaze was fixed on Qi Jiahui. "Mr. Qi?" His eyes were piercing, forcing him to give a reason.

Qi Jiahui hated Chi Moqing because he had stolen Yan Zuozuo away. But he was even more afraid of Chi Moqing's power, so he could only bite the bullet and say, "It's...it's my fault...I wanted to catch up with Zuozuo, but my fiancée misunderstood. It's all my fault..."

Chi Moqing sneered: "Just catching up, and Mr. Qi gets hurt?"

Qi Jiahui almost collapsed to the ground, his legs giving way. He pursed his lips, utterly unable to admit that he wanted to molest Yan Zuozuo. He absolutely could not bring himself to offend both the He family and Chi Moqing.

“I was the one who bit him,” He Xinrui suddenly said. “I misunderstood, that’s why I was angry with him. Now that everything is clear, I apologize to Mrs. Chi. I’m sorry…”

He Xinrui was used to being spoiled and had never bowed her head before. But now she was apologizing to her fiancé's ex-girlfriend. She hated Qi Jiahui to death and wished she could kill Yan Zuozuo even more.

Chi Moqing remained silent, only glancing at Yan Zuozuo as if seeking her opinion. Yan Zuozuo wasn't one to hold grudges; even if she and Qi Jiahui had broken up, there was no need to be so ruthless. However, she also didn't want Qi Jiahui to continue bothering her, not only for her own sake but also for Chi Moqing's.

She looked calmly at the He family and said in a low voice, "It's good that things have been explained. Just like my husband said, my affair with Qi Jiahui is a thing of the past. I just want to live a good life with my husband, and I also hope that Miss He and Mr. Qi will have a happy and fulfilling life together."

Yan Zuozuo's words demonstrated her magnanimity while clearly drawing a line between herself and Qi Jiahui. Public opinion instantly shifted, with everyone looking at the He family father and daughter with disdain. Of course, Qi Jiahui couldn't escape criticism either.

Nobody's a fool. With a good man like Chi Moqing around, who would still cling to Qi Jiahui?

Now that the He family had admitted their mistake, Chi Moqing saw no need to stay any longer; he simply wanted to leave with Yan Zuozuo. So, he looked at the design director and asked, "May I take my wife home now?"

The design director nodded quickly, and Yan Zuozuo smiled apologetically.

From beginning to end, Chi Moqing held Yan Zuozuo's arm, his protectiveness evident. This gave Yan Zuozuo the illusion that she was a princess in distress in a fairy tale, and Chi Moqing was her prince, leading her away from the hellhole when she was at her most vulnerable.

Fate is a truly wondrous thing.

The moonlight was hazy, the stars twinkled brightly, and the evening breeze felt very comfortable on my face.

Chi Moqing led Yan Zuozuo by the hand toward the parking lot, but Yan Zuozuo suddenly stopped. He turned to look at her, expecting to meet a sad face, but to his surprise, she was just smiling, her eyes full of dazzling light.

Chi Moqing raised an eyebrow in surprise: "What's wrong?"

Yan Zuozuo suddenly stood on tiptoe, hooked her arm around his neck, and planted a kiss on his lips.

Chi Moqing was stunned for a long time. He was no stranger to kissing, but Yan Zuozuo taking the initiative startled him. He hadn't forgotten why she proposed to him in the first place. Was he too traumatized?

Unable to get a response from him, Yan Zuozuo tried to get away in frustration. Was her kissing skill really that bad? He didn't even react at all. However, before her pink lips had even left his, he suddenly hugged her tightly and deepened the kiss with lightning speed, even hiding the moonlight in the distance.

Yan Zuozuo collapsed into his arms, panting, her chest heaving. Chi Moqing stared at her captivating face, a strange light flickering in his eyes. He held her close, "Let's go back."

Yan Zuozuo leaned against his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat, and felt that there was no better moment than this.

She looked up at him with her big, watery eyes, and said, "Let's take a walk."

Chi Moqing was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and said, "Okay."

The streetlights on both sides of the road cast long, intertwined shadows of the two. The night wind ruffled her vows, and Chi Moqing reached out to straighten them for her. His gaze towards her lacked its usual seriousness, softening with tenderness.

Perhaps because of the time, there weren't many pedestrians on the road, and no one spoke as the two walked hand in hand. When they got tired, they sat down on a bench by the roadside. She rested her head on his arm, and he naturally wrapped his arms around her waist; everything seemed perfectly natural.

Across from the bench flowed the Minxin River, its surface dappled with the soft moonlight, and the gentle sound of flowing water drifted from beneath the bridge. Somehow, Yan Zuozuo had fallen asleep. The twinkling stars reflected on her smiling lips, creating a beautiful curve. She stirred unconsciously, clinging to his arm, and drifted deeper into sleep.

Chi Moqing looked down at her, worried that she would catch a cold, and put the coat he had been holding on her to her body, enjoying this rare moment of tranquility.

Yan Zuozuo didn't know how she got home. When she woke up, she was already in bed. The nightlight was on, but Chi Moqing wasn't in the room.

She groggily got up to look for him, thinking he might be in the study. But when she pushed open the study door, she didn't see anyone. She scratched her messy hair, went down from the small duplex, and saw Chi Moqing who had just returned from outside.

She was taken aback, looking at him in confusion, "You went out?"

Chi Moqing walked over wearily, buried his head in her long, beautiful hair, hugged her tightly, and murmured, "I ran into an acquaintance when I went downstairs to take out the trash, and we chatted for a bit."

"Oh." Yan Zuozuo didn't pay much attention, yawned in an unladylike manner, reached out and touched his face with concern, saying, "Go take a shower and go to bed early, you have to go to work tomorrow."

Chi Moqing nuzzled against her neck before reluctantly heading towards the bathroom. Yan Zuozuo watched his figure disappear through the doorway, a beautiful smile curving her lips. They hadn't been married long, but she could clearly feel the changes within herself.

Perhaps... she really has fallen for Chi Moqing...

She stood there, stunned, without the slightest surprise. A man as gentle and considerate as him—it should be easy to fall for him, right? She touched her blushing face, as if some secret had been discovered, and shyly ran back to her bedroom, burying herself under the covers.

When Chi Moqing came out, he saw the blanket bulging. He smiled, climbed onto the bed, and hugged her tightly.

Yan Zuozuo began to struggle: "Ahhh, you're trying to murder me!"

"Don't worry, even if I kill you, I won't live on my own." Chi Moqing chuckled, pulling her head out from under the covers, his warm breath spraying onto her face.

He smelled wonderful after his shower, even though we used the same shower gel. Why didn't she smell good? She twisted her body shyly, "Let me go, let me go, it's so hot."

Chi Moqing obediently let go, and Yan Zuozuo quickly pulled back the covers, wanting to cool off. The next second, Chi Moqing pinned her down, biting her earlobe and asking in a hoarse voice, "Feeling better now?"

Yan Zuozuo felt a wave of tingling sensation wash over her, and gave him a playful glare. "I've been in a great mood the whole time."

She knew he was referring to the banquet. Although she was a little sad at the time, when she saw him appear and stand by her side to protect her without hesitation, she felt there was nothing to be sad about. Instead, she was very glad that she had found a good husband by chance.

Chi Moqing looked at her intently, and only breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that she didn't seem to be lying. Yan Zuozuo, on the other hand, poked his chest in dissatisfaction and huffed, "I only realized today how powerful and capable you are."

If she hadn't seen the fear and trepidation shown to him by those political and business figures at the banquet, she wouldn't have known she had married such an important person.
