Struggling through the snow, the four men looked at the scene devoid of any animal activity, their faces grim and their hearts sinking.

Qin Yu's face was red from the cold, and his lips were pressed into a thin line. Although he had prepared himself to come out empty-handed, not seeing even a single animal hair was no less than being doused with a bucket of cold water in winter.

Seeing Qin Yu's expression, Qin Yue knew he was blaming himself, so she went over, patted his shoulder, and whispered words of comfort:

"Brother, it's okay, we haven't been gone long."

Perhaps we'll find something later. Don't rush. Even if we take a step back, consider this our scout trip, to get a sense of the situation here.

Qin Yu uttered a soft "hmm," and his complexion improved somewhat.

Jiang Li swept the snow with a straight stick she had picked up from the roadside. She spotted footprints in the snow and immediately exclaimed in delight:

"Look, we've found something here."

Ye Jingmo walked to Jiang Li's side first, squatted down, and measured the length of the footprints with his hands.

Qin Yu pulled Qin Yue along and ran quickly over, splashing up a cloud of snowflakes on the road.

"What animal is this?"

Qin Yue looked down at the footprints, examining them from left to right, completely unsure what kind of animal had left them.

Jiang Li is often seen in rural fields, and he immediately recognized these as cow footprints.

Back when she was setting up an experimental field in the countryside, her crops were eaten. Later, when she checked the surveillance footage, she found that a cow had come from somewhere and ate her crops.

This forced her to replant a new batch, and she almost killed the cow. From then on, she had a deep impression of the cow's footprints.

"It should be a cow."

Ye Jingmo stood up and said to them.

"Judging from the direction of these footprints, they must have gone that way."

He pointed in a direction.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!"

Qin Yue immediately said with great interest.

Following the direction of the footprints, the four of them searched for over an hour until they came across a huge cave.

The cave was dimly lit, so Jiang Li picked up her binoculars and looked inside, where she could clearly see the cow lying there.

The number far exceeded their estimate; there were a total of six cows lying in the burrow.

Four adult bulls and two calves; the strongest bull is blocking the entrance to the burrow, while the calves are protected in the middle.

There are six cows, four big and two small.

Jiang Li handed the binoculars to Ye Jingmo so he could take a look.

Ye Jingmo took the binoculars, looked at them for a while, and then said:

"The herd of cattle is quite large, and the strength of cattle is comparable to that of wild boars, so they should not be underestimated."

"Are you planning to hunt these few cows, or should we go find other prey?"

Ye Jingmo's gaze was fixed on Qin Yu. He had thought that with only one cow, the chances of a successful hunt would be much higher.

Four people could have worn it down, but now there are six cows, which greatly increases the risk.

"My main concern is that if we keep going forward, we won't find any other prey, so we might as well seize the opportunity right in front of us."

Risk and opportunity go hand in hand. We'll take a gamble; if we win, this trip will be a success; if we lose, we'll return empty-handed.

After thinking it over, Qin Yu firmly expressed his inner thoughts.

Ye Jingmo's gaze swept over Jiang Li and Qin Yue, asking for their thoughts.

"Qin Yu is right. We can't guarantee that there will be prey ahead. It's important to seize the opportunity in front of us."

Jiang Li agreed with Qin Yu's statement; there were only about four or five hours left until dark.

If we abandon the cattle herd to look for other prey, we don't even know if we'll find any before sunset.

"So what should we do? If we just shoot arrows at the cows, we'll definitely anger them."

Qin Yue spoke softly.

This is the key question: how do we lure the cattle out of their den?

The four of them racked their brains, and Jiang Li was the first to break the deadlock.

"We lure them out with food?"

In this freezing weather, plants are certainly quite rare.

We dug a hole in a certain place, put some splinters in it, and lured a cow over with food so that it fell into the hole.

"As long as one falls for it, that's enough."

"This method works, but who will lure them out with food?"

Ye Jingmo inquired.

The four looked at each other, and finally their eyes all focused on Pudding.

Pudding was playing in the snow when it sensed everyone's gaze. It looked up with a blank expression.

"Then let Pudding pull the rope to lure the cows while we set up the trap first."

Ye Jingmo found a relatively open and flat snowfield, selected a location, and the four of them immediately started moving.

They started digging holes quickly with shovels, but the soil was frozen hard and required a lot of effort to dig them open.

It took about an hour for a large enough pit to fit a cow to appear on the ground.

Jiang Li rubbed her face with her hands. Her hands were warm from the friction, and they felt stimulating when placed on her cold face.

"Next, just cut a few tree branches, sharpen them, and stick them at the bottom of the pit."

Ye Jingmo took a shovel, found a short tree, and forcefully chopped off several branches, throwing them on the ground.

Jiang Li and Qin Yu sharpened the daggers, while Qin Yue was responsible for sticking them into the bottom of the pit.

To ensure their sturdiness, Qin Yue planted them deep in the ground and even added some snow underneath, then tamped it down forcefully.

Jiang Li used several long wooden sticks to form a grid at the opening of the pit, covered the opening with a thin cloth brought by Qin Yue, and sprinkled a thin layer of snow on it.

Once it was indistinguishable from the snow on the surface, Jiang Li stopped what she was doing.

"Alright, now all that's left is to lure the cow over."

Jiang Li clapped her hands to brush the snow off them.
