Su Su pressed the spray bottle, and a pungent smell instantly filled the air.

Even though Ji Ruichu was on guard, she was still choked by the smell. Her throat felt like it was being rubbed with sandpaper, dry and painful. She couldn't help but cough violently, her eyes reddening and tears welling up in her eyes.

She felt like gagging, her stomach churning, but she couldn't vomit anything.

She quickly covered her mouth and nose, but the smell seemed to have a life of its own, desperately trying to penetrate her respiratory tract, making her feel so uncomfortable that she almost suffocated.

"What is this? It smells a bit bad."

Ji Ruichu coughed as she managed to squeeze out a few words.

But slowly, she got used to the smell, yet found it extremely strange. It was a mixture of decay and an indescribable, eerie fragrance. The two completely different smells intertwined, tormenting her senses.

"To conceal the living fragrance emanating from your body."

Su Su said slowly, while reaching out and lifting Ji Ruichu's hair that was draped over her shoulders.

"Don't you think you smell wonderfully like a living person?"

Upon hearing this, Ji Ruichu was struck dumb, instantly straightening her back and her voice trembling involuntarily.

"What……"

"Forget it, it's nothing!"

Su Su seemed to suddenly realize something and released Ji Ruichu's hair.

She originally wanted to hold Ji Ruichu's hand, but Ji Ruichu, like a startled deer, quickly dodged away and stared at her warily, her eyes full of defensiveness.

"I said, you're already in my house. If I want to do something, do you have any room to resist?"

Su Su sighed helplessly, trying to dispel Ji Ruichu's doubts.

Ji Rui was speechless for a moment, not knowing how to answer.

Just then, the sharp doorbell rang.

The two turned to look at the door at the same time. Su Su's expression changed drastically, and she grabbed Ji Ruichu's wrist.

"Don't make a sound, come with me." She quickly pushed Ji Ruichu into her room and opened the closet. "Hide inside and behave! Otherwise, it'll be troublesome."

Ji Ruichu thought that the trouble Su Su mentioned was that if she were discovered, not only would her life be in danger, but she would also implicate Su Su.

Thinking of this, she trembled with fear, covered her mouth tightly with both hands, tried to breathe softly, and focused intently on the movements outside.

All that could be heard was Su Su going to open the door and talking to the members of the disciplinary team.

It turns out that someone claiming to be Su Su's neighbor reported seeing a living person enter Su Su's house.

They were immediately searched by the police.

Ji Ruichu's heart was in her throat, and every heartbeat made her chest ache.

The footsteps grew closer, each one feeling like it was pounding on her heart.

Suddenly, the wardrobe door was slowly opened.

In that instant, Ji Ruichu's heart seemed to stop beating, her blood froze, her whole body stiffened, and she could only stare wide-eyed in horror at everything in front of her, her mind blank, and despair completely overwhelmed her like a tidal wave.

Just when Ji Ruichu was filled with despair and thought she was about to be discovered, something strange happened.

Those people were clearly looking directly at her, but their gazes seemed to pass right through her body, skipping over her without lingering at all.

"See? I told you there was no one there!"

Su Su's voice carried a hint of smugness and mockery, "And are you so desperate to eat living people, and jealous of me, that's why you say my family is hiding living people?"

As she spoke, Su Su suddenly grabbed her neighbor's hair and slammed his head against the wall.

The sounds of impact continued, and in no time, the neighbor was left dizzy and staggering.

"You've wronged me, shouldn't you compensate me for emotional distress? Shouldn't you pay me?"

Su Su's tone was aggressive, but her hands showed no sign of stopping.

The neighbor was dazed and confused from the accident, but he was still indignant and cursed, "Pay me my head! I won't pay! I just smelled the scent of a living person. There really is a living person here."

She cursed and struggled, but it was no use against Su Su's strong suppression.

Seeing this, the patrolmen quickly stepped forward to persuade the neighbor to back down: "That's enough, stop making a scene."

Su Su became more and more agitated as she spoke: "I already told you, I'm wearing perfume, I don't believe you're not! You're always staring at me, even if I die, you damned shadow will still be staring at me, ptooey ptooey ptooey!"

While spewing nasty remarks, she continued to question, "Are you going to pay me or not?"

His movements became increasingly violent, until the neighbor saw stars and finally gave in and agreed to pay compensation.

The patrol team searched the house thoroughly again, but still found nothing.

They were well aware of the complicated relationship between Su Su and her neighbors, and dared not interfere, for fear of being complained about and getting into unnecessary trouble.

Finally, the neighbor was taken away by the patrol team for making a false report and will have to undergo several days of punishment.

In the mortal realm, she is destined to suffer bad luck for quite some time because of this incident.

Ji Ruichu hid in the closet, listening to the noise outside, not daring to make a sound.

She was completely confused. What were living people and shadows? Where was she?

She was filled with fear and confusion, and she really wanted to go back to her original home, back to that familiar and safe place.

It wasn't until Su Su gently knocked on the wardrobe door and called her out that she cautiously peeked out of the room.

But just then, her stomach started rumbling loudly.

She then realized that she had been in a state of excitement during the outing today and hadn't eaten much, and had been in a state of high tension the whole time.

The danger has temporarily passed, but my body can't take it anymore, and hunger surges up like a tidal wave.

“Um, Asu, you here…” Ji Ruichu’s voice was cautious yet full of expectation, but before she could finish speaking, Su Su interrupted her directly: “No.”

"I just wanted to ask if there was anything to eat, or even just a drink! Why have you become so stingy!" Ji Ruichu muttered softly, her tone full of grievance, like a child whose candy had been taken away. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly, and her eyes revealed disappointment.

"Humans can't eat the food here, otherwise you won't live long even if you return to the mortal world." Su Su said seriously, without a trace of a joke in her tone.

"Huh?" Ji Ruichu's eyes widened, her face full of disbelief, her eyes filled with shock and confusion.

"But I'm so hungry! My stomach hurts from hunger, I'm so hungry, my fingers are trembling!"

As Ji Ruichu spoke, she tightly covered her stomach with one hand, while extending the other hand in front of Su Su. Her slender fingers trembled slightly, the tips turning white, silently conveying her weakness and helplessness at that moment.

"You can have it if you want!"
