Shocking Secrets of the Celestial Realm
Chapter 28 The Holy Altar Appears
After a short rest, the group rallied and continued along the mysterious passage. The passage wound its way through the seemingly endless tunnel, and the strange runes shimmering on the surrounding walls echoed the meridians and Five Elements and Eight Trigrams symbols of Traditional Chinese Medicine, yet they also concealed deeper mysteries. With each step, they could feel the pull of a mysterious force, as if guiding them to some crucial place.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, light gradually appeared ahead. As they drew closer, the light grew increasingly dazzling, and the four quickened their pace. When they emerged from the passage, the scene before them stunned them.
In an ancient and secluded forest, tree branches twist and gnarle, leaves shimmering with strange fluorescence, some a deep, dark blue, others radiating a mysterious purple glow. Giant, mushroom-shaped plants are scattered among them, their caps adorned with flowing, colorful patterns like ancient runes. On the ground, vines intertwine, occasionally flashing with eerie light. In the distance, translucent creatures drift slowly through the air, their bodies like flowing orbs of light, occasionally emitting soft humming sounds.
Deep within the forest, an ancient altar radiating a soft blue light came into view. The altar was composed of pure energy, with flowing bands of light outlining mysterious patterns, as if whispering ancient secrets of the universe. Among these patterns were lines resembling the meridians of the human body, symbols representing the five elements, and other mysterious markings never before seen. They intertwined, forming a complex yet harmonious whole.
"This...this is the place we've been searching for?" Qin Feng exclaimed, his eyes filled with shock and curiosity. He opened a spatial rift, attempting to observe the altar from different dimensions, only to find that the spatial rift was pulled by an invisible force as it approached the altar, becoming distorted and unstable.
"The energy of this altar is too powerful, it seems to contain the mysteries of the entire universe." Lin Qing couldn't help but sigh, the longsword in his hand trembling slightly involuntarily, as if responding to the mysterious power of the altar. He circulated his blood energy, trying to sense the connection between the altar and himself, but found that his blood energy became unusually active when it approached the altar's energy, as if some dormant power had been awakened.
Ye Lan waved her jade flute, and natural elements danced merrily around her. She attempted to draw these elements into a resonance with the altar's energy. As the elements approached the altar, water transformed into shimmering droplets, slowly swirling around it; fire leaped forth in fiery flames, reflecting the altar's blue light; wind, like gentle ribbons, coiled around the altar; and earth gathered beneath it, seemingly providing solid support. "The natural elements and the altar's energy are highly compatible; there must be some secret hidden within," Ye Lan said, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
Jasmine stared intently at the altar, drawing upon her microscopic energy perception to try and uncover its mysteries. In the microscopic world, she witnessed a breathtaking scene: the altar's energy resembled a massive vortex, interconnected with the stellar power of the universe, each energy particle containing boundless wisdom and power. These energy particles, in turn, were intricately linked to the microscopic world of the human body, influencing everything from cellular metabolism to gene expression.
“I sense that this altar is closely related to the mysteries of the human body, and it may be the key to unlocking all the mysteries,” Jasmine said slowly, her eyes shining with determination.
The four cautiously approached the altar. As they stepped into the energy field surrounding it, a powerful yet warm force enveloped them. Under this influence, their bodies became light, their minds sharpened, and they felt as if they had merged with the will of the universe.
Suddenly, the patterns on the altar began to flicker, the light growing stronger and stronger. As the light flickered, a deep and ancient voice resounded in their consciousness: "To unravel the mysteries of the human body, one must understand the changes of the Five Elements, comprehend the principles of the meridians, and comprehend the way of Yin and Yang."
Jasmine's heart stirred; she recalled the Five Elements theory in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Five Elements—metal, wood, water, fire, and earth—not only represent five substances but also five different energies and patterns of change. Metal is associated with change and transformation, possessing the characteristics of contraction and killing; wood with bending and straightening, possessing the characteristics of growth and expansion; water with moistening and downward movement, possessing the characteristics of nourishing and descending; fire with blazing upward, possessing the characteristics of warmth and upward movement; and earth with nurturing and cultivating, possessing the characteristics of bearing and generating. These five characteristics mutually restrain and depend on each other, maintaining the balance of the human body and the universe.
“We need to interpret the patterns on the altar based on the characteristics and changing patterns of the Five Elements,” Jasmine said to her companions.
Lin Qing nodded slightly. He concentrated his energy and circulated his qi and blood according to the principles of mutual generation and restraint of the five elements. When he circulated the qi to the point where wood generates fire, the patterns representing wood and fire on the altar suddenly lit up, and a flame rose from the altar, shooting straight into the sky.
Ye Lan also began to experiment, drawing upon the natural elements and manipulating them in the order of the Five Elements: water, wood, fire, earth, and metal. As she manipulated them, the natural elements around the altar underwent a wondrous transformation, forming a colorful vortex of energy.
Through their combined efforts, the patterns on the altar gradually became clearer, and some ancient texts and images emerged. These texts and images recorded an ancient cultivation method that could unleash the body's potential and achieve fusion with cosmic energy.
Just as they were engrossed in their study, a sinister roar echoed from the forest. Immediately afterward, a pack of enormous demonic wolves surged forth from all directions, surrounding them. These wolves were covered in black scales, their eyes gleaming with a blood-red light, and they spewed black smoke from their mouths, the smoke reeking of decay.
"Be careful, these demonic wolves are tough to deal with!" Lin Qing shouted, quickly drawing his longsword and circulating the power of his entire body's blood and qi. The sword shimmered with a crimson light, like a burning flame. He charged towards the demonic wolves first, his longsword flashing with sharp sword energy, each strike containing the power of the five elements. When his sword energy collided with the demonic wolves, the sharpness of the metal element made the sword energy even sharper, giving it a powerful impact.
Qin Feng opened a spatial rift, sucking some of the demonic wolves into it. He mobilized the five elements' energy to enhance the rift's suction and attack power. He first injected metal element energy, making the edges of the rift as sharp as blades, cutting into the demonic wolves' bodies; then he injected fire element energy, causing a great fire to ignite within the rift, scorching the demonic wolves; finally, he injected earth element energy, making the rift even more solid, preventing the demonic wolves from escaping.
In the fierce battle, the demonic wolves, though ferocious, gradually found themselves in a predicament under the combined attack of the four. However, these demonic wolves seemed to be driven by some mysterious force, becoming even more frenzied, and their attacks grew increasingly violent.
Just then, a gigantic figure suddenly appeared in the forest. It was a giant python, its body as large as a mountain, covered in black scales, each scale shimmering with an eerie light. The python's eyes were like two enormous blood-red lanterns, and it spewed black venom from its mouth, instantly corroding the ground wherever the venom touched.
"What...what kind of monster is this?" Qin Feng exclaimed in surprise.
"It seems we're in big trouble!" Lin Qing gripped his longsword tightly, his expression grave.
The giant python opened its blood-red maw and lunged at the four of them. It was incredibly fast, reaching them in an instant. Lin Qing quickly swung his longsword, slashing at the python, but its scales were extremely hard. The sword only produced a crisp sound when it struck the python, failing to inflict any real damage.
Qin Feng opened a spatial rift, attempting to suck the giant python into it, but the python seemed to sense the danger. It twisted its body and skillfully avoided the suction force of the spatial rift.
Ye Lan drew upon natural elements and the energy of the Five Elements to form a five-colored barrier, attempting to block the giant python's attack. However, the black venom spewed by the giant python was highly corrosive, instantly corroding large holes into the five-colored barrier.
Jasmine searched for the python's weakness in the microscopic world. She discovered that the python's eyes were its vital point, but attacking them was not easy, as the python's head was protected by a thick layer of scales.
In this critical moment, Jasmine suddenly remembered the cultivation methods recorded in the ancient texts and images on the altar. She realized that perhaps through these methods, she could unleash her own potential and defeat these monsters.
"Listen up, everyone! We're going to unleash our potential by following the training methods on the altar!" Jasmine shouted.
Everyone immediately understood Jasmine's meaning. They concentrated their minds and, following the cultivation methods inscribed on the altar, mobilized the energy within their bodies to unleash their potential. As they cultivated, the energy within their bodies gradually converged, forming a powerful force. This force fused with the five elements, becoming even stronger.
Supported by immense power, the four launched another attack. Lin Qing's sword energy became even sharper, Qin Feng's spatial rift more stable, Ye Lan's elemental attacks more ferocious, and Jasmine's microscopic energy attacks more precise. Their attacks swept towards the demonic wolf and the giant python like a storm.
Under the combined attack of the four, the demonic wolves fell one after another, and the giant python was also severely injured. Wounds appeared all over its body, and black blood flowed continuously. The giant python let out a painful roar and turned to flee the battlefield.
The battle had drained them of much of their strength and energy. They looked once more at the ancient altar. The patterns on the altar still shimmered with a mysterious light, as if waiting for them to continue exploring.
