Chapter 60 Will you help me beat her up?
When Gu Yan woke up, he found himself lying on a patch of withered grass. All around him was quiet, with only a faint light shining in through the small window.
She stood up and found herself locked in a small, dark, damp cell, the walls covered in cobwebs and mold. A sudden wave of fear washed over her; she had no idea where she had been taken.
Squeaks came from the corner of the wall. Gu Yan dared not sit on the ground, afraid that rats and various insects would suddenly appear. He could only stand upright in the middle of the cell, squatting down to rest for a while when he got tired.
After an unknown amount of time, footsteps sounded outside the cell. A moment later, the door to her room slowly opened, and a strange man and woman entered. The man's face was cold and sinister, his eyes icy and merciless, as if capable of freezing one's soul. The woman was quite beautiful, though her features appeared somewhat sharp in the dim light. Gu Yan nervously swallowed. She didn't know who these two people were, nor what they intended to do with her.
Adhering to the principle of "I won't move unless the enemy moves," Gu Yan looked at the two without saying a word.
"Miss Bai has been quite a handful of people along the way," the man said first.
"I don't know you, what do you want from me?" Gu Yan took a step back, trying to distance himself from the person in front of him.
"I have some questions for Miss Bai, and I hope you can tell me the truth. What exactly happened on Qixia Mountain?" the man asked politely, forcing a stiff smile.
Gu Yan didn't react for a moment. She thought the person in front of her had heard the rumors and was after the Seven Star Stone "on" her. But after hearing the question, Gu Yan realized that this person was not misled by the rumors and seemed to know some of the real events.
"Didn't my older brother already tell you all? But the Seven Star Stone isn't on me right now. If you want to find it, it depends on your sincerity." Gu Yan raised an eyebrow, concealing his inner shock, and crossed his arms, pretending to look smug.
The man before him was not intimidated by Gu Yan's words. He shook his head and looked at Gu Yan with sharp eyes. "Miss Bai, when did that imposter become your elder brother? I'm afraid the real Bai Heming would be heartbroken if he heard that."
"Since you already know it's fake, and the Jade Balance Stone isn't with me, why are you asking me?" Gu Yan sneered, turning his head away as if he didn't want to say anything more.
"The Jade Balance Stone is indeed not in your possession. But you know something more important than the Jade Balance Stone. How exactly Bai Heming and Li Hengzhi broke the Seven Star Array on Qixia Mountain. As long as you tell me this, I guarantee I will send you back safely immediately." The man stared greedily at Gu Yan, like a hungry wolf eyeing its plump prey.
Gu Yan took a deep breath. She knew that this man was no good person, and that he was probably involved in the Qixia Mountain incident.
"I don't know you, why should I tell you? Besides, I don't know what you're talking about," Gu Yan replied coldly, mainly because she genuinely didn't know what had happened on the mountain back then.
Upon hearing Gu Yan's answer, the man's face darkened, and a hint of displeasure flashed in his eyes. Still unwilling to give up, he pleaded, "If you tell me the method, I can kill the fake Bai Heming immediately and erase that false rumor right away."
"Thank you, but no need. I can kill him myself, so I won't trouble you." Gu Yan sneered, a hint of disdain flashing in his eyes.
The woman standing behind the man seemed to be getting impatient with Gu Yan's stubbornness. She walked up to her, extended her white hand, lifted her chin, and said with a cold smile, "Bai Yanhuai, do you think you still have Bai Heming and Li Hengzhi protecting you? Quickly tell us what you know, or don't blame us for being impolite."
Gu Yan frowned, a sense of displeasure rising within her as she watched the woman's actions. She calmly looked at the woman and replied, "Do you think you can get the answer you want by threatening me?"
The woman's gaze sharpened further, and her fingers gripped Bai Yanhuai's chin tightly, causing her a sharp pain. Gu Yan gritted her teeth, trying her best to endure the pain and not show weakness.
"Heh, I wonder which ghost just said that if I told you, I could keep me safe." Gu Yan looked at the woman without fear, a hint of contempt in his eyes.
The woman's expression changed slightly, as if Gu Yan's words had touched a nerve. She released Gu Yan's chin, revealing a chilling smile, "What a sharp tongue you have, just like your brother."
No sooner had he finished speaking than a heavy slap landed on Gu Yan's face. He sneered, "Your elder brother has Li Hengzhi protecting him so I can't touch him. I'd like to see who can protect you."
The slap stunned Gu Yan. Her cheek stung from the blow, and a surge of anger welled up inside her. She glared at him and snapped, "Are you crazy? Don't you know you shouldn't hit someone in the face?!"
The woman crossed her arms smugly, looking at Gu Yan's somewhat disheveled appearance, and couldn't help but laugh out loud, seemingly quite satisfied with her actions.
Gu Yan covered his face with one hand, walked past the woman in front of him, and looked coldly at the man beside her.
“Hey, you kill her for me, and I’ll tell you everything that happened on Qixia Mountain.”
The man raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything.
Seeing this, the woman became even more aggressive and reached out to attack Gu Yan again. But just as her hand touched Gu Yan's shoulder, the man suddenly appeared behind her.
The man reached out and grabbed the woman's hand firmly, then pulled her forcefully in front of him. The woman lost her balance and nearly fell. She glared angrily at the figure, a cold smile playing on her lips. But she didn't retaliate; instead, she glared at Gu Yan and turned to leave.
“She’s gone, now we can talk,” the man said in a low voice.
"I said I killed her, but you just sent her away. Do you think I'd tell you that?" Gu Yan rolled his eyes at her, thinking, "Dream on."
The man gave a cold smile, seemingly realizing that Gu Yan wouldn't tell him the truth.
Suddenly, he reached out and grabbed Gu Yan's neck tightly.
"To say or not to say?"
Gu Yan felt suffocated. She struggled desperately, but shook her head in refusal. The man's strength was too great; she couldn't break free at all. Just as her vision began to blur and her consciousness faded, the man released his grip on her hands.
Gu Yan fell to the ground, gasping for breath, realizing for the first time how precious oxygen was.
"You've already offended Miao'er; if you offend me too, the consequences will be unimaginable."
Miao'er?
Could it be Qin Miao'er?
My somewhat dazed mind, clouded by lack of oxygen, cleared up instantly.
Were the people who captured her from the group led by the Fourth Elder of Kunlun Ruins? But who is this man in front of her? Why was she brought here by a man in black?
The more Gu Yan thought about the problems, the more his brows furrowed.
The man looked at Gu Yan, who remained silent, and shook his head with some regret.
"If you fall into Miao'er's hands, you'll either die or be crippled. You were originally somewhat useful, but unfortunately, the young lady isn't cooperating, so I can only watch the show one more time."
The man glanced at Gu Yan with amusement, then turned and left with a smile.
The small cell returned to silence. Gu Yan rubbed her temples, trying to calm her turbulent mind. However, the questions still troubled her. She began to recall everything that had happened recently, trying to find some clues. But no matter how she tried to remember, she couldn't find any answers.
Gu Yan felt as if she were in a giant maze, with dead ends in every direction. She didn't know which way to go or how to solve the mystery before her.
This kind of brain-taxing thing is really difficult; it feels like my CPU is burning out.
Time became blurred in the cell; she didn't know how long she had been imprisoned. The tightly closed cell door was opened again.
The man in black standing at the door this time was the one Gu Yan was quite familiar with.
The man in black rudely pulled Gu Yan up from the ground and dragged her out of the cell.
"Let me go! What do you want?!"
The man in black was very strong, and Gu Yan struggled the whole way but couldn't break free.
The man in black led Gu Yan to a dimly lit room and tied him to a rack inside.
"Hey, what are you doing!" Gu Yan felt extremely uneasy. She quickly looked around and found that the room was filled with various torture instruments, which made her panic.
Oh my god, am I going to be tortured?
The man in black did not answer. He tied Gu Yan up and stood quietly to the side, seemingly waiting for something.
Gu Yan was tied to the frame all alone, her mind filled with countless bloody and cruel images, and she trembled uncontrollably. If it weren't for the frame behind her, she probably would have collapsed to the ground with her legs giving way.
"Bai Yanhuai, we meet again." A female voice came from the doorway, and then Gu Yan saw Qin Miao'er walk in.
"Qin...Miao'er?" Gu Yan stared intently at the person in front of him. "What do you want to do?"
"Oh, you're quite clever, you actually know who I am? Could it be that Li Hengzhi mentioned me to you?" Qin Miao'er picked through the torture instruments on the side, took out a dark-colored knife, and played with it in her hand.
"You're overthinking it. Brother Li and my brother are so loving and affectionate, they don't have time to mention you at all." Although he was terrified, Gu Yan didn't want Qin Miao'er to feel good, so he deliberately said things she didn't want to hear.
"Heh, is that so..." Qin Miao'er let out a low laugh.
Suddenly, Qin Miao'er rushed towards Gu Yan, plunged the small knife in her hand into Gu Yan's shoulder, and twisted it forcefully.
Gu Yan couldn't help but let out a muffled groan; the intense pain made her vision go black.
"Does it hurt? Blame Bai Heming, you're his sister. This was supposed to be for him, but since he's not here, it has to be used on you." Qin Miao'er laughed even harder as she looked at Gu Yan's pained expression.
“Miss Qin, the sect leader said this person is still useful. Remember to spare her life, don’t kill her.” The man in black suddenly spoke up to remind her.
Qin Miao'er's laughter was interrupted. She pulled out the small knife from Gu Yan's shoulder and threw it at the man in black, saying, "Get out of here, don't get in my way."
Although the man in black had left, Qin Miao'er was still somewhat concerned about what he had just said. She could only snort coldly, pick up the leather whip beside the table, and lash it out fiercely.
After a few lashes, red welts appeared on Gu Yan's body, each oozing a bead of blood. Gu Yan clenched his teeth tightly, enduring the excruciating pain without uttering a sound, seemingly resisting Qin Miao'er in silence.
Not hearing Gu Yan's screams, Qin Miao'er was unwilling to give up and lashed him several more times with her whip. Looking at the bloodied wounds on Gu Yan's body, a hint of satisfaction flashed in her eyes.
"How is it? Are you satisfied with this gift?"
Gu Yan was in so much pain that she couldn't speak. She gasped for breath and spat at Qin Miao'er with all her might.
"Hahahaha, you should be glad you're still useful, otherwise I would have made you wish you were dead." Seeing Gu Yan's disheveled and swaying appearance, Qin Miao'er laughed loudly, threw down the whip in her hand, and left the torture chamber without looking back.
When Gu Yan woke up again, she had been thrown back into the same dark and damp cell. She smelled the strong stench of blood around her, and as she moved her limbs slightly, waves of pain shot through her.
Time passed slowly, and Gu Yan had been confined to her cell for several days. Her body was extremely weak, her wounds were festering and inflamed, and she had almost no strength left. She coughed incessantly, her breathing gradually weakening, and she felt her life slowly slipping away.
She prayed silently, hoping someone would hear her cries for help. However, the cell was filled with deathly silence and a stench; there was no response.
Is she really going to die here?
No!
Why is her life in danger even after transmigrating? She hasn't even successfully found Hua Bao and Yue Ya yet.
Various images flashed through Gu Yan's mind, some from before his transmigration and some from after. Knowing that only the dying person would have images of their entire life appear before them, Gu Yan forced himself to stop recalling.
Stop thinking about it. Stop thinking about it.
She is not a dying person.
However, just as she was about to give up, the cell door suddenly opened. A blurry figure appeared in the doorway, but Gu Yan no longer had the strength to look up. She secretly wondered, "Could it be Qin Miao'er again? Is she here to see my gruesome death?"
Just as Gu Yan was lost in thought, the person ran to her side and anxiously called her name.
Huh? Why do I hear Jiang Si's voice?
I never expected that she would start hallucinating.
Gu Yan forced his eyes open and looked at the familiar face before him. He couldn't help but chuckle softly, "Ah Si, I never expected that my last hallucination before I died would be you. It seems you are more important than I thought."
As she spoke, Gu Yan suddenly burst into tears, large tears sliding down her cheeks. "Waaah, A-Si, it hurts so much, it hurts so much. Waaah, Qin Miao'er hit me, please hit her back for me, please."
Listening to Gu Yan's self-talk and seeing her covered in blood, Jiang Si felt a pang of heartache. He carefully and gently lifted her into his arms, bowing his head and promising:
"Okay, I'll kill her for you."
