What to do if you receive the wrong package?

Chapter 10 Take Responsibility for Your Own Mistakes

What do you mean by shooting yourself in the foot?

Shen Mujin was filled with regret. If she could turn back time, she would never have pretended to be a man's wife just to satisfy her verbal urges. Oh no! If she could turn back time, she would never have brought a man home to heal his wounds. This wasn't just finding a male lead; it was finding a tyrant, a ticking time bomb.

Since the man woke up that day, apart from his wounds healing slowly, everything else has been recovering rapidly, which made Shen Mujin exclaim, "Goodness, what kind of constitution did people in ancient times have? How could they tell that this person was half-dead just a few days ago?" Of course, she could only think these words silently in her heart. If the man heard them, she was afraid she would offend him again.

We don't know what this man does, and we dare not ask.

Aside from delivering three meals a day to the man, Shen Mujin avoided him whenever possible during these past few days. Otherwise, as a weak woman with no strength to even kill a chicken, she would be nothing but trash in front of this powerful man exuding murderous aura.

Shen Mujin counted the days; it was time for the delivery again, once every ten days. Every ten days, villagers would come down from the mountain to deliver daily necessities and food to Shen Mujin's family. Last time, Shen Mujin had no idea it was delivery day; it was Da Huang who led her to bring the goods back. Sometimes, one really has to wonder, has Da Huang really not become a spirit?

Shen Mujin knocked on her room door and raised her voice slightly, saying, "Hero, Da Huang and I are going out to get something. We should be back before lunch." After waiting for a while without receiving a response, Shen Mujin decided to stop waiting and headed straight for the pickup area with Da Huang.

So what if he's handsome? With his eccentric personality, there's no way he'll ever find a wife! I thought modern guys were weird enough, but it turns out ancient guys were just as weird. It's tough being alive. Shen Mujin walked along, her thoughts churning. She'd been here for almost a month, hiding behind the cliff, completely oblivious to the outside world.

A profound sense of powerlessness instantly saddened Shen Mujin. She stiffly thanked the villagers who had come to deliver the goods, then silently carried her bamboo basket on her back.

Back at her residence, Shen Mujin was still not out of her low spirits. She silently put away the supplies, then made a simple lunch and delivered it to the man. After politely knocking on the door, she pushed it open and entered.

The man looked at Shen Mujin, who hadn't said a word until she was about to leave, and couldn't help but feel a little strange. But the man wasn't a talkative person either, and the two of them lived together for another three or four days in this strange atmosphere.

"What's wrong with you?" After this period of rest, the man was able to get out of bed and do some simple activities, but Shen Mujin was unusually quiet, which made the man feel a little uncomfortable.

The man's sudden question startled Shen Mujin, who then shook her head to indicate that she was fine.

"My name is Xuan Yi."

The man's inexplicable initiative to introduce himself left Shen Mujin even more bewildered. What was going on? Could it be that this man wanted to kill her to silence her, letting her know who had done it before she died? Shen Mujin stopped washing the dishes, looked up at Xuan Yi with some confusion, and repeated uncertainly, "Xuan Yi?"

Xuan Yi nodded, and seeing Shen Mujin's blank expression, he couldn't help but ask, "Do you know about Weiyang Palace?"

Shen Mujin shook her head. But secretly, she thought to herself that the name sounded very villainous.

"Oh, I don't know either." Shen Mujin thought Xuan Yi would ask some other questions, but Xuan Yi's answer made her want to roll her eyes.

You don't know anything!

There's no point in arguing when you can't see eye to eye. To avoid getting angry at Xuan Yi, Shen Mujin decided to wash the dishes properly. If Xuan Yi was right, she'd be a pig.

"When you saved me, was there anyone else around me?" After a while, Xuan Yi slowly asked again.

Okay, I'm a pig. Shen Mujin decided to go all out. She looked up at Xuan Yi and nodded, "There are four more men in black, but they're all... dead."

"Oh," Xuan Yi said, indicating that he understood.

"So? What's your relationship?" Since the topic had come to this point, Shen Mujin didn't mince words and asked directly.

"It's ok."

"Huh? It's okay that you all appeared at the bottom of the cliff at the same time, with four dead and one injured. Are you kidding me?" Shen Mujin muttered, looking disgusted.

"The more you know, the faster you die."

Xuan Yi's words were like a fuse, instantly igniting Shen Mujin's emotions. "I went through all that trouble to snatch you back from the jaws of death, and instead of thanking me, you threatened me with your life! I'm done!"

Shen Mujin walked directly up to Xuan Yi, staring intently at him, and said, "I don't know who you are, and I don't want to pry into your affairs. If you're almost fully recovered, please leave. My place is too small to accommodate someone as important as you. Also, don't threaten others with their lives so easily. Don't forget, I'm the one who saved you."

After saying that, Shen Mujin went straight back to her room to rest without looking back. "Just because I haven't shown my teeth doesn't mean I'm a pushover. Forget about dinner, you'll have to go hungry."

Xuan Yi watched Shen Mujin's somewhat angry back and couldn't help but curl the corners of his mouth. It seemed that his luck wasn't too bad. Although he was forced to fall off Zhuiyun Cliff, he not only didn't die, but also encountered such an interesting person.

Shen Mujin had originally planned to let Xuan Yi go hungry so she could lose some weight. However, she found herself unable to sleep due to hunger in the middle of the night. After drinking her fifth glass of water and still not feeling full, Shen Mujin silently got out of bed, resignedly pushed open the door, and headed straight for the small kitchen.

"You should eat less at night." Although she said she would eat less and cook less, she still quickly cooked a pot of steaming hot egg noodles. Looking at the tender white noodles and lush green leaves in the pot, Shen Mujin hesitated for a moment, but still quickly ladled two bowls and placed them on the tray.

Holding the tray, Shen Mujin stood hesitantly in front of Xuan Yi's door. She was the one who made those harsh words, and she was also the one who took the initiative to bring him food. Wasn't this a bit too much of a slap in the face? But then she thought, Xuan Yi is still a patient. If a patient doesn't eat or sleep well, it will affect his recovery.

Oh well, at worst I'll just get mocked by Xuan Yi again.

"Knock, knock, knock," Shen Mujin knocked on the door. "I cooked noodles, do you want some?"

No sooner had the words left his mouth than Xuan Yi's voice rang out from inside the room. "Bring it in."

Shen Mujin pushed the door open and entered. There were no candles lit inside; moonlight followed her into the room. This allowed her to roughly locate the table and place the tray.

"Gone?" Shen Mujin asked abruptly.

Upon hearing this, Xuan Yi, who was sitting on the edge of the bed, narrowed his eyes but remained silent.

"It's so dark, how can we eat?" Before Xuan Yi could speak, Shen Mujin carefully walked to the candlestick, shook the tinderbox in her hand, and lit the candle. The small room was immediately brightened by the candlelight.

Xuan Yi looked at the two bowls of noodles on the tray, raised an eyebrow, and took the initiative to speak: "Are you planning to eat with me?"

"Promise to speak politely and don't resort to violence yet."

With Xuan Yi's approval, Shen Mujin glanced around the empty room and helplessly spread her hands. "There was another bowl prepared for your guests, but now it seems..." Before she could finish speaking, a figure flashed before her eyes, and a man in black instantly appeared behind her, drawing a dagger with a flick of his elbow and pressing it tightly against Shen Mujin's neck. The dagger was sharp, and a chilling aura emanated from it as it pressed against her neck; the scent of death was palpable.

Only now did Shen Mujin truly realize that the man before her was no good. Shen Mujin frowned, unusually, looking at Xuan Yi who remained calmly seated on the bed, somewhat angrily: "You broke your promise."

Xuan Yi pointed to the bed with a slightly innocent expression, "I really didn't do anything."

"Hmph," Shen Mujin lowered her eyes, not wanting to look at him, but because of the dangerous object around her neck, she dared not make any sudden movements. She was furious; he should be left to starve.

"How did you know what was going on in my room?" Xuan Yi originally thought Shen Mujin was just an ordinary girl and didn't want to harm her, but she actually managed to discover Feng Ting's presence. It seems he underestimated her.

Shen Mujin became even angrier upon hearing this. Ignoring the dagger at her neck, she put one hand on her hip and pointed at Xuan Yi with the other, saying, "Of course I didn't know there was someone hiding in your room. It was Da Huang who found out. I was sleeping soundly these past few nights, but Da Huang would suddenly wake me up and try to take me to your room. My own people aren't very good at fighting, and my Da Huang found out, yet you still blame me."

Xuan Yi glanced at Shen Mujin. If an ordinary person had said that, they would surely be dead. But after these few days of interaction, the dog beside this woman was indeed quite formidable.

"Having revealed your whereabouts, you will be punished with 50 lashes upon returning." Xuan Yi waved his hand, indicating that Feng Ting could release Shen Mujin.

The moment the dagger was removed, Shen Mujin immediately darted to another corner of the room, far away from the two big troublemakers, just to be safe.

"Since you know I might hurt you, why did you reveal that you know about us?"

"Do you think I wanted this? I was just worried you'd be hungry tonight. And you probably don't know that every time your subordinate comes to see me, my kitchen is always a little short the next day. So, I just sent it over anyway." Shen Mujin glared fiercely at Feng Ting. "You dared to scare me with a dagger just now? I'll tell on you too."

Shen Mujin's reason not only surprised Xuan Yi, but even Feng Ting was surprised that it was related to him. Feng Ting was about to bow and explain when Xuan Yi stopped him.

"I know very well what kind of person I am."

"So you mean I lied to you? Fine, then tell me where all the food I lost went? Besides you, me, and him, who else is in this house? Could it be a ghost that stole it! Suspecting a ghost is less reliable than suspecting Big... Huang. Wait, Big Huang!" Shen Mujin seemed to suddenly understand something. Ignoring the other two people in the room, she threw down the words, "If you don't eat your noodles soon, they'll get soggy," and stormed out of the house in a rage.

Feng Ting watched the retreating figures of the people who had already run off into the distance, then turned back to look at Xuan Yi, "My lord, this..."

Xuan Yi seemed to be used to all of this, and walked to the table and sat down on his own. "Since it's prepared for you, try it."

"..." My lord has been acting strangely ever since he fell off the cliff. What should I do? I need help urgently.

To be fair, the noodles were cooked quite well, but they got a bit mushy from soaking for too long.
