Two weeks have passed since I had that dream last day.

For some reason, Li Shangxun started looking forward to dreaming, at least dreaming would allow him to get a good night's sleep.

Perhaps he was thinking too much, because he dreamed about his childhood again.

This time, he hid outside the study, where the sound of students reading aloud filled the air. He squatted under the window outside, using a twig as a pen, and secretly tried to learn from them.

He wanted to study; books could teach people how to become strong, and only by becoming strong could he avoid being bullied. These were the things his wet nurse had told him.

However, he was not allowed to study in the Imperial Study. When the princes in the palace reached a certain age, they could only enter with the emperor's permission.

The late emperor disliked him, and the eunuchs around him would not dare to mention him.

His mother was even more pleased that he didn't have a son, so he had no chance to study.

He could only come secretly, and he couldn't be discovered, otherwise he would be severely beaten.

But he was bound to be discovered eventually. Sure enough, just as he had this thought, a clear and malicious voice came from inside the room: "Look, this jinx, he's secretly studying outside the window."

"Guards, seize him quickly!"

"Don't let him get away."

He momentarily forgot that he could control this body, and was a beat too slow before being surrounded by a swarm of eunuchs and palace maids.

The princes and their companions came out one after another. The eldest prince was in the lead, followed by the second and third princes. The fourth and fifth princes were also inside, as was his younger brother, the eleventh prince.

They watched as the eunuchs pressed him to the ground like a prisoner, and some even applauded and cheered.

"Alright, that's really bad luck. Don't waste your time with this kind of person. They'll only delay your studies. Just kick them out." The eldest prince frowned. Although he didn't say anything malicious, it sounded very harsh.

He'd heard this kind of talk countless times, and it didn't faze him at all.

"No, we can't let him off so easily. What if he comes back next time?" the Fifth Prince shouted.

"Then what do you suggest, Fifth Brother?" The Third Prince crossed his arms, looking rather amused.

The sixth prince, propping himself up on his arm, suddenly had a flash of inspiration: "I've got it!"

Once everyone's attention had turned to him, he said smugly, "We can make him crawl between our legs."

"Just like Han Xin endured the humiliation of crawling between someone's legs in ancient times, we are doing this to temper his will. He wants to pursue his studies, and without willpower, he won't succeed," the Sixth Prince continued.

"Wonderful, wonderful, Sixth Prince, you've got it all!" The Fifth Prince agreed wholeheartedly.

"Boring." The eldest prince turned and left, but made no attempt to stop them.

The second prince also left. He always took the eldest prince as his role model and followed in his footsteps.

The third prince stayed where he was, eager to watch the spectacle.

The eighth, ninth, and tenth princes hesitated for a moment before following the eldest prince inside.

The eleventh prince also went in, but before going in, he gave him a deep look, as if he felt that having a brother like him was a disgrace.

Li Shangxun smiled sarcastically.

The fourth, fifth, and sixth princes were eager to try, and gradually approached him.

The events of that year were repeating themselves, and Li Shangxun looked at them with cold eyes.

Suddenly, the eunuch controlling him cried out and released his grip. He seized the opportunity to escape and ran away quickly. From afar, one could still hear the Fourth Prince cursing and complaining about the incompetence of his servants.

Once they reached an empty space, Li Shangxun stopped and said to the air, "Come out."

Sure enough, she appeared again: "We meet again, do you still remember me?"

Li Shangxun nodded.

She was pleasantly surprised; she couldn't believe that someone would be surprised that he remembered her.

No one wants to be remembered by him; those who are remembered by him are all dead.

Oh, his mother is still alive, but she doesn't want him to remember her, and she doesn't want him to call her "Mother".

"Were you in the classroom just now? Were those people your classmates?" she asked.

Li Shangxun shook his head. How could he be worthy of entering the school?

Seeing that he was unwilling to elaborate, she didn't ask any further questions. She simply said, "Does the school teach the Analects and Mencius? I've never been to school and I can't read. Can you help me check if these are the two books?"

She produced two books, and after Li Shangxun nodded, she handed them to him, along with writing brush, ink, paper, and inkstone, and then said:

"I don't understand it either, so how about I give these to you? You can teach me after you've learned them, okay?"

Li Shangxun held these things in his hands; things he had tried so hard to obtain but had failed to get, he had obtained so easily in his dream.

For some reason, he felt a little envious of the "him" in his dream.

He suddenly longed to see her face clearly. They were from the same body, so why could the previous "him" see it clearly, but he couldn't?

He tried to stare at her face, but it was no use. He could only vaguely tell that she was very pretty, with her eyes crinkling as she smiled at him.

"What's wrong? Is there something on my face?" she asked.

"No." Li Shangxun opened his mouth, "Sister, sister."

There was a slight hesitation in her voice when she first opened her mouth, but she still called out "sister" very naturally.

"Yes, I'm here," she replied.

After calling out "Sister" once, it was easy to call her again.

"Hmm, what's wrong?" she asked.

"Sister, where are you from?" Li Shangxun asked, wondering if she was really there. If she was, he wanted to meet her.

"I'm from the capital," the woman replied.

"Whose daughter is she?" It turns out she's also in the capital. Li Shangxun wasn't familiar with the young ladies of the capital, but he seemed to recall a certain official surnamed Shu. "Is she Lord Shu's daughter?"

The woman smiled as she spoke: "My surname is Liu. I'm just an ordinary girl from a humble family. My father sells food on a daily basis; I'm not worthy of being called an adult. Alright, let's not talk about me anymore. I noticed you seem to have grown taller since last time, but you're still very thin. What would you like to eat this time? How about some knife-cut noodles?"

Seeing that she was unwilling to talk, Li Shangxun nodded, but silently made a mental note of what she said so that he could have someone investigate it when he woke up.

……

Upon waking up again, Li Shangxun called out, "Qin Ming."

"Your subordinate is here." Qin Ming, the commander of the Embroidered Uniform Guard, was summoned in.

"Send someone to look for a woman in the capital named Liu Shuwan. She has dimples, comes from an ordinary family that sells food, and should have a younger brother who died young," Li Shangxun instructed.

He had a feeling that the woman in his dream was real, and he didn't know what to do after finding her; he probably just wanted to see what she looked like.

"I wonder what the two characters are associated with the young lady His Majesty is looking for, and what her appearance and age are like?" Qin Ming asked.

"I don't know." Li Shangxun frowned. "Just go and search as I instructed."

"As you command." Qin Ming took his leave.

Liu, the eunuch serving nearby, harbored his doubts, wondering where the emperor had come up with this woman.

But he just wanted to act like a deaf and mute person, doing less and asking less while doing more, so that he could survive in the palace for a long time.
