“You’re the idiot, you big idiot Lu Yan,” Jiang Shuwan retorted reflexively.

A smile flickered in Lu Yan's eyes at her reaction. He reached out and ruffled her hair, readily admitting, "Yes, I am."

He spoke frankly, but then changed the subject, "So, is the person who cried while agonizing over whether to 'study at a world-class art school' or 'become an art consultant for a startup that doesn't even exist yet' a little fool?"

"No, I'm not conflicted. I want to study abroad." Jiang Shuwan stubbornly denied it three times in a row.

After saying that, she seemed a little embarrassed, "If I don't go, what will happen to your art consultant?"

Lu Yan chuckled softly, his tone exaggerated, "Wow, Miss Jiang, you don't think you're the only one in the world who can serve as our company's art consultant, do you?"

“Although you are indeed the only one in my heart, we should give others a chance,” Lu Yan continued.

"Hmph, fine, it's definitely a big loss for you guys if I don't go." Jiang Shuwan said haughtily, just about to get angry but quickly being coaxed by Lu Yan's next words.

Silence fell for a moment, and the surroundings quieted down again.

Jiang Shuwan leaned against Lu Yan's chest, smelling the familiar scent of soap on him, and suddenly felt a little down: "Lu Yan, Italy is so far away from here, we can't see each other every day like we do now."

Lu Yan rested his chin on the top of her head and replied almost without pausing, "Jiang Shuwan, is your phone just for decoration? Or are you so busy that you can't even find the time to text or video chat with me every day?"

"I won't!" Jiang Shuwan immediately raised her head to retort, glaring at him. "I definitely have time! I'm just afraid that someone will forget about me when they get busy, not answer the phone, not reply to messages, or just give me a perfunctory answer!"

The more she talked, the more likely it seemed, and her tone became aggrieved.

Lu Yan lowered his eyelashes to look at her, and said seriously, "No."

He paused, as if organizing his thoughts, and said slowly and clearly, "I will pin your messages to the top, and I will answer all your calls. With me, you will always have the highest priority."

Her nose stung again, and Jiang Shuwan buried her face in his chest once more, muttering softly, "Then... what should I do when I miss you? When I miss you so much, sending messages or video calls doesn't help."

Lu Yan replied quickly and in a relaxed tone: "Jiang, your boyfriend isn't so poor that he can't even afford a plane ticket to see you."

"Hmph, that's putting it lightly."

Jiang Shuwan deliberately contradicted him, poking his chest and saying, "I've heard that the project you're working on is incredibly expensive. Don't end up with all your money tied up and penniless, not to mention not having enough for airfare or even food."

Lu Yan grasped her mischievous fingers, his tone slightly playful: "Well, if it really comes to that, I'll have no choice but to message my girlfriend and ask if she can help out her poor boyfriend."

Jiang Shuwan was taken aback by his "justified" attitude of living off a woman, but then found it amusing and continued, "So your girlfriend said she's willing to lend you money, but she'll charge interest! And the interest rate will be very high!"

Lu Yan chuckled softly, his chest trembling slightly.

He lowered his head, brought his breath close to her ear, and whispered in a low voice, almost coaxing, "How about I give myself to her as interest?"

He stepped back slightly, watching her eyes widen instantly and her cheeks flush, and slowly added:

"Although it might be a bit of a 'money burner' right now, in the long run, I think... I should be quite valuable, Mr. Jiang, why don't you consider it?"

Jiang Shuwan didn't refuse, but buried her burning cheeks deeper into his neck and said in a muffled voice, "You rascal!"

……

The following time seemed to be deliberately fast-forwarded.

The calendar pages turn one by one, spring comes, autumn comes, and winter arrives.

Another year has passed, and spring's beauty is deepening.

They didn't bring up the matter again, as if they had temporarily sealed it away in a transparent box.

But they tacitly agreed to spend more time together.

After the application was approved, Jiang Shuwan became Lu Yan's little trinkets, following him everywhere.

Lu Yan accepted this readily, even showing a hint of indulgence and satisfaction.

The time of parting is drawing ever closer.

One Friday evening, Lu Yan closed his laptop and suddenly said, "Let's go on a trip."

“Okay.” Jiang Shuwan, who was watching an Italian drama, looked up immediately and walked excitedly to his side, but hesitated for a moment. “But, have you taken care of everything? You’ve been so busy lately.”

"Everything's been taken care of. The only thing you need to consider now is whether you want to go or not." Lu Yan reached out and pulled her into his arms, kissing her forehead.

"Of course I want to!" Jiang Shuwan leaned against him. "Then where should we go?"

"Go to Italy." Lu Yan handed her a folder on the table.

Jiang Shuwan opened the folder.

Printed itinerary, flight booking confirmation, and hotel confirmation.

There is also a detailed map of Florence with various notes and the museum's opening schedule.

It will happen next Tuesday.

She suddenly looked up at him.

Lu Yan met her gaze, a slight smile playing on his lips: "If you're really touched, why don't you give me a kiss?"

Jiang Shuwan didn't speak, but simply cupped Lu Yan's face in her hands and gently kissed him.

Like a feather, trembling cautiously, a kiss that ends in an instant.

However, before leaving, Lu Yan tightened his arms instantly, locking her firmly in his embrace.

With his other hand, he supported the back of her head, giving her no room to back down.

He took the initiative and lowered his head to kiss her deeply in return.

"Mmm..." Jiang Shuwan was caught off guard, and a small sob was swallowed up by his even hotter breath.

After an unknown amount of time, Lu Yan slowed his advances, turning into gentle pecks.

Finally, forehead to forehead, their breaths mingled together in a chaotic chorus.

His eyes held a deep, unfathomable darkness. Looking into her misty, moist eyes, he couldn't resist leaning in and gently biting her lip. His voice was slightly hoarse, carrying a lingering sense of longing as he spoke:

"I feel a bit cheated. I should have said it a few more times."

Jiang Shuwan, who was initially quite touched, gave him a whack on the elbow, both amused and annoyed: "You're pushing your luck."

After a while, Jiang Shuwan's voice rang out in the quiet space: "Lu Yan, you've been so busy lately, is this what you've been preparing for?"

"More or less." Lu Yan's fingertips unconsciously caressed her slightly hot earlobe. "Although the work at hand did take some time, it seems that the return on investment is still very high."

“Of course, the most important thing,” he said, looking down at her tenderly, “is that I want to leave my mark in the place where you will be living for the next few years.”
