After dinner, Jiang's mother pulled Jiang Shuwan aside to talk in the living room.

A virtual flame burned in the fireplace, reflecting the similar faces of the mother and daughter.

"Wanwan, your dad and I are going to start work again tomorrow. The second phase of that joint design project will take at least another six months."

Jiang's mother held her daughter's hand, her eyes filled with reluctance and apology. "I'm sorry, your father and I are always very busy and can't spend more time with you."

"Mom, I understand." Jiang Shuwan leaned against her mother and joked, "Besides, if you two don't work hard, how am I supposed to just lie around and sponge off you?"

"Little clever devil."

Jiang's mother gently stroked her hair, then changed the subject, "But darling, didn't you say you wanted to go to the Florence Academy of Fine Arts... How's your decision coming along? Are you preparing your application materials?"

The Florence Academy of Fine Arts, an ancient art palace located in the heart of the Renaissance, was a place the original owner had longed for long before meeting Lu Yan.

Jiang Shuwan lowered her voice: "Your language scores are sufficient, and your portfolio is almost ready, but your recommendation letters and application essays still need some polishing..."

Sensing the hesitation and concern in Jiang Shuwan's tone, Jiang's mother sighed softly.

Her tone softened: "Wanwan, I'm asking you this question not to urge you to make a decision, nor to demand that you follow the original plan, but simply to remind you that this is an important choice concerning your future path, and you need to think it through yourself."

She paused for a moment, her eyes filled with affection: "If you've started considering staying in China or changing your path to further studies because you met Xiao Lu, Mom completely understands and respects any choice you make."

"Feelings are important; they can give people strength and warmth. However, your dreams and growth are equally important, or even more important. Mom doesn't want you to easily give up your long-held pursuits and plans for anyone else."

Jiang Shuwan nodded and said, "I need some more time to think it over, and I also need to talk to Lu Yan about it."

Jiang's mother patted the back of her hand and said softly, "Don't rush, there's still time. No matter where you choose to go or which path you take in the end, remember that your father and mother support you. We just hope that your choice is based on your true inner voice."

"Okay, thank you, Mom." Jiang Shuwan leaned against her mother's chest, her eyes filled with an unfathomable darkness.

……

The aroma of tomato and beef brisket filled the dining table.

Jiang Shuwan took a couple of bites and then, as if chatting casually, suddenly said, "Time flies, Lu Yan. It feels like I just entered university yesterday, and this semester is already the second semester of my junior year. In just one more year, I'll be graduating."

"It's fast, but why are you suddenly feeling sentimental about how time flies? I didn't know you were so sentimental," Lu Yan teased her.

"I've always been an artsy girl, okay?" Jiang Shuwan rolled her eyes at him. "We've been together for so long, how come you couldn't tell?"

“Okay, artsy girl.” Lu Yan picked up a piece of vegetables for her with his chopsticks and smiled. “I always thought you were the abstract type.”

“I learned abstraction from you, you unrestrained master of abstraction,” Jiang Shuwan retorted.

Lu Yan raised an eyebrow: "Alright, we're on the same side."

Jiang Shuwan shoveled some rice into her mouth and steered the conversation back on track: "So, what are your plans after graduation?"

“Let’s start a business,” Lu Yan said. “Together with a few senior students from the lab, our focus will be on an AI-driven, immersive digital cultural and creative content industrial production platform.”

"Actually, we've already reached out to several companies for seed funding. If all goes well, we can start the program during our senior year."

Lu Yan continued, his tone unusually sharp and spirited, adding, "The location is tentatively set in the startup park near the university town, which is close to here and convenient to get to."

“Yes, speaking of which, I was also planning to ask that. What are your plans next?” he asked.

"I... I haven't thought about it yet. I'm not a senior in college yet." Jiang Shuwan avoided his gaze and lowered her head to eat her rice.

Lu Yan put down his chopsticks, his gaze falling on her face, and invited, "If you don't have any plans yet, our team is missing someone with aesthetic sense and market awareness. Would you be interested in becoming our art consultant?"

"Art consultant?" she asked instinctively, her voice carrying a hint of uncertainty.

“Well, the ideas you mentioned before about combining art and technology are quite good, and if you come,” Lu Yan paused, then suddenly said, “we can work together.”

We can see each other more often each day.

Lu Yan didn't say these words aloud, but a hint of anticipation flickered in his eyes.

"You're so clingy, Lu Yan. I didn't expect you to be such a clingy person." She joked on purpose, trying to hide her true feelings.

Lu Yan smiled and said, "I remember someone was saying a few days ago that her boyfriend is a junior in college and still so busy that he doesn't have time to spend with his girlfriend."

"Who is it? Who is it? It's definitely not me." Jiang Shuwan deliberately looked around, trying to find the person Lu Yan was talking about.

Lu Yan suddenly reached out and controlled her face, looking at her and saying, "Look, this is in my eye."

Jiang Shuwan looked at his affectionate gaze and somewhat embarrassedly slapped his hand away: "What are you doing? We're eating. What kind of behavior is this, touching me like that?"

Lu Yan laughed and said, "Alright, my mistake. So, what's someone's decision?"

She smiled, but her voice was a little dry. "Of course! But my appearance fee is very expensive."

Lu Yan asked, "Is my private savings and my future salary enough?"

"Well, it's barely acceptable," Jiang Shuwan nodded, feigning modesty.

But Lu Yan, seeing her expression, suddenly called out to her: "Jiang Shuwan".

"Ok?"

“You,” he looked at her, “is something on your mind?”

"No, no," Jiang Shuwan replied quickly, immediately taking the initiative, "What's wrong? Is there something you need?"

"Of course not." But Lu Yan noticed that she suddenly tightened her grip on the chopsticks and was still a little concerned. "If there really is something wrong, you should tell me, and we can solve it together."

"Okay, okay, you're so long-winded, Lu Yan. Are you going through menopause?" Jiang Shuwan complained, changing the subject. "By the way, did you water your succulents today?"

Lu Yan frowned slightly as he looked at her lowered eyelashes and her unusual reaction. He kept the matter to himself and replied, "No, it's only been less than a week since you last watered it. Be careful it doesn't drown again."

"Oh, really? It hasn't even been a week?" Jiang Shuwan chuckled awkwardly. "It feels like ages."

"I have a feeling that someone else is going through menopause," Lu Yan joked.

Jiang Shuwan's anger flared like a pufferfish: "Lu Yan!"
