Infinite Flow: Becoming a God in a Nightmare Game
Chapter 25 Leaving the Dungeon
Jiang Qi stared intently at the empty coffin, deep in thought, knowing that no further clues could be found here.
Jiang Qi brought his thoughts back to the present. After Lin Wanchu had comforted Lu Xue, he went downstairs.
As soon as the four of them reached the entrance on the first floor, they smelled a strong stench of blood.
What they saw on the rooftop was far less horrific than what they saw on the ground floor. Everyone was directly impacted, the ground was covered in blood and shattered corpses, and the four of them had nowhere to put their feet.
It seems I need to find a way to cross this river of blood, but so many corpses are a bit of a problem. Jiang Qi thought to himself.
Jiang Qi said calmly, "Remember not to step on the blood on the ground. Let's look for something to insulate against it. Be careful."
Everyone nodded in agreement upon hearing this, and quickly dispersed.
Ten minutes later, everyone reunited at the main entrance on the first floor. As expected, they found nothing; the only useful items were the desks and chairs inside the classroom.
Jiang Qi looked into the distance and realized that it would take some time to reach a place free from blood contamination.
Now he could only pin his hopes on the system shop. Jiang Qi browsed through the system shop and found that the only thing he could buy with his points that was still useful was a raincoat.
Unfortunately, this raincoat can only be used for five minutes, which is really useless.
While Lin Wanchu and Lu Xue were thinking about how to escape this place, they heard Jiang Qi's voice.
"Let's go and move out everything we can find in the classroom that we can use as stepping stones, and then Lin Wanchu, you can buy a raincoat from the system shop."
The group brought out a few usable tables and chairs, along with several plastic bags.
Jiang Qi found a place with relatively few corpses and began setting up tables and chairs.
Lin Wanchu and Lu Xue handed him tables and chairs. When the road was finally paved, Jiang Qi led the way while Lin Wanchu brought up the rear.
Fortunately, walking on the tables and chairs was relatively safe and there were no other dangers.
Finally reaching the last table and chair, Jiang Qi put on a raincoat, covering his entire body except for his beautiful eyes.
Jiang Qi picked up Lu Xue and walked forward, while Lin Wanchu carried Lu Zhi behind him.
Occasionally, she would step over a few corpses, but Lin Wanchu would close her eyes and not look at them.
Jiang Qi looked ahead and figured that even if the raincoat would wear off in five minutes, he could still reach his destination by putting plastic bags under his feet.
Jiang Qi also kept a close eye on Lin Wanchu's situation to prevent any unforeseen circumstances.
Lin Wanchu quickened her pace as she sensed Jiang Qi's gaze; she couldn't hold him back.
When they were about 100 meters away from the clean area, Jiang Qi stopped and let Lin Wanchu walk ahead.
"Run! Don't worry about me."
Lin Wanchu didn't understand why Jiang Qi said that, but she just started jogging, deciding that whatever the reason, she should just listen to Jiang Qi.
Lin Wanchu carried Lu Zhi, who was like a child, and ran without much effort. They finally reached their destination, and the raincoat disappeared, indicating that the five minutes had passed.
Lin Wanchu looked in Jiang Qi's direction with a worried expression, while Lu Zhi's childish voice came from beside her.
All she heard him say was, "Trust your brother, he will arrive safely."
Jiang Qi calmly stepped over the corpse lying on the ground, as if he were taking a walk in his own home, leaving behind his footprints in the path.
With one minute left before the raincoat expires, Jiang Qi is almost at his destination: ten meters, nine meters, eight meters...
Just as Jiang Qi was about to step his right foot into the clean area, the corpses lying there stirred. The corpse closest to Jiang Qi grabbed his ankle.
A bloody handprint was also stained on the raincoat. Jiang Qi tried to break free of the restraints, but no matter how strong he was, he couldn't break free.
Jiang Qi's expression was indifferent, his deep voice was flat, his eyes were cold as ice, and his words were like shards of ice.
"If you don't want to die again, then get out."
Upon hearing this, the corpses that had stood up slowed their movements, and their hands loosened their grip slightly. By the time they tried to grab again, Jiang Qi had already stepped into the clean area.
While Jiang Qi was locked in a stalemate with the bloody hand, the raincoat had long since become ineffective. Fortunately, the plastic bag inside prevented Jiang Qi's shoes from getting stained with blood.
The four of them escaped successfully and rested in a clean place for a while to discuss their next move.
"Brother Jiang, you really scared me to death just now! You're amazing! So where are we going next?" Lin Wanchu asked first, looking at Jiang Qi with admiring eyes.
Lin Wanchu has now become Jiang Qi's number one fangirl and plans to follow him forever.
Jiang Qi had no idea what Lin Wanchu was thinking, and he looked at her with a helpless expression.
"Let's go find Xu Yan now. The solution to this predicament lies with her. It's time to end this stalemate."
Lin Wanchu was quick to follow Jiang Qi's train of thought and didn't ask any unnecessary questions.
The four of them made their agreement and then headed towards the library.
Although Xu Yan is Chu Qidie's best friend, it's hard to guarantee that these things won't affect Xu Yan.
On the way to the library, they unexpectedly ran into Bai Xiaoyu. He was disheveled and looked at the four of them with pleading eyes, looking pitiful.
Jiang Qi didn't look at him, but simply brushed past him indifferently, leaving behind a gust of wind.
The remaining Lin Wanchu and Lu Xue wouldn't be foolish enough to save a complete stranger, and Lu Zhi was even less likely to do so; he merely glanced coldly at Bai Xiaoyu.
The four of them finally arrived at the library. Compared to the teaching building, the library was much cleaner; there were no broken corpses or bloodstains on the ground.
As you walk into the library, you can smell a pleasant fragrance.
Jiang Qi sniffed carefully; the fragrance seemed to be that of magnolia blossoms.
The Xu Yan they were looking for was asleep at the library reception desk, completely unaware of what was happening outside.
Beside Xu Yan's hand lay a beautiful magnolia flower. Jiang Qi didn't take the magnolia flower away; he simply tapped the table with his hand.
Xu Yan was awakened by the noise. She looked at Jiang Qi with sleepy eyes, patted her face, and whispered in confusion.
"Why did I fall asleep?"
"Hello, classmate, we have something we'd like to ask you for a favor." After saying that, Jiang Qi handed the metal box with the password, the handwritten letter about Chu Qidie, and a photo to Xu Yan.
When Xu Yan received these items, her heart started pounding involuntarily. She didn't understand where this feeling came from or why she felt this way.
Xu Yan carefully unfolded the yellowed handwritten letter. When she saw her own name, her pupils contracted and her hands trembled.
Despite the wear and tear of time, the writer's elegant handwriting was still evident on the paper, and Xu Yan couldn't help but read it aloud.
Dear Ah-Yan, greetings.
I know this letter might be the first and the last, but I couldn't help myself.
I think this letter is very ordinary, so I'm already lucky enough that you've seen these words.
I never expected to write you this letter under these circumstances. It's a pity that I may be gone by the time you read this letter.
If you were to open this letter, you wouldn't know when.
These past few days, because of what happened to me, you've been affected as well. I'm afraid you'll be bullied by them, which is why I've been avoiding you. Even though you've been coming to me, I've remained silent.
You kept trying to comfort me, telling me not to be afraid, that we would face whatever came together, and that I should fight bravely, that you would always be there to protect me.
But what could I, so weak and powerless, do? I dared not resist; if I did, they would only bully me more. I could only passively accept their malice and humiliation…
But one day, I overheard them using foul language towards you in the bathroom and their plans to bully you after school.
I was furious. I wanted to rush in and tear them to pieces, but all I could do was clench my fists tightly with red eyes until I felt a sharp pain in my palms before I let go.
At this point, a plan began to unfold in my mind; it was my secret.
Now that the plan has been fully implemented, they have been unable to harm you anymore.
However, my plan was not foolproof. I knew that my secret would be exposed to the world one day, and I was mentally prepared for that.
Today, I want to confess everything to you: I killed all those who tried to bully you.
I hope Ah Yan won't be afraid of me or blame me. I know their personalities, and they deserve this fate.
I have never felt so wonderful and happy. I sincerely tell you, Ayan, I am so lucky to have met you.
Thank you, Ayan, for bringing me the last bit of kindness in this world. Please don't cry when I leave; I'd hate to see you sad.
Just like Ah-Yan said, I will fight against everything that bullied me in another world, and I will fight them to the very end.
Perhaps after I die, no one will remember me, no one will bully me anymore. The sun is too far away, otherwise I would be buried there.
Ah-Yan, when you look at the brightest star in the sky, that's me always with you, always protecting you. Ah-Yan, your future may not include me, but please, you must be happy.
Goodbye, Ah-Yan.
After reading the contents of the paper, Xu Yan gently stroked the paper, as if she were touching someone's cheek through the paper.
She didn't understand where the bitterness in her heart came from. Was it heartache? A tear soaked the paper. Xu Yan touched her face. She didn't know when she had started crying.
Xu Yan looked at the photo again, in which Chu Qidie smiled shyly at the camera.
Xu Yan felt a pang of sadness and a sense of emptiness in her heart. She felt as if a piece of her heart was missing, and that empty space was very important to her.
Xu Yan silently pressed the photo to her heart, large tears streaming down her face.
She fiddled with the metal box with trembling hands. Strangely, she had never seen this metal box before, but a string of clear numbers appeared in her mind.
With a click, the metal box opened.
The first thing that catches the eye is a cassette tape and a few small items.
One of the items was a pair of small women's rings, which remained as good as new despite the passage of time.
The letter was already crumpled up by Xu Yan, and she couldn't hold back her tears any longer.
In the quiet library, the four of them listened silently to Xu Yan's sobs.
"Brother Jiang, did she remember something? She looks so sad," Lin Wanchu asked softly.
Jiang Qi nodded and then shook his head. "I can remember some things, but probably not many. It seems we still need to let her meet with the current Chu Qidie."
However, we can't rush things now; it would be troublesome if we scared this important figure.
Before Jiang Qi could think any further, Xu Yan spoke up, though her voice was still choked with emotion.
"Can you introduce me to her?" At this moment, Xu Yan desperately wanted to see this girl named Chu Qidie; perhaps seeing her would make everything understandable.
This couldn't be better, and all four nodded.
Jiang Qi and his group went to the basement of the swimming pool again, opened the exit they came from, and led Xu Yan into the place where they had met Chu Qidie.
The stone door was opened from the inside, and the sound startled Lin Wanchu and Lu Xue.
Chu Qidie was sitting leisurely on the coffin, swinging her legs and smiling at everyone, as if she had expected them to come here.
Xu Yan shook her head violently as soon as she saw the person sitting on the coffin, "This is not the Chu Qidie I want to see."
Everyone present was shocked upon hearing Xu Yan's words.
Jiang Qi, however, remained largely unaffected. As the story progressed, he gained a deeper understanding of the school and the truth behind Chu Qidie.
However, Jiang Qi wanted to see what would happen next and whether it would be as he guessed.
Chu Qidie was only surprised for a moment before her expression returned to normal. She ran over and affectionately took Xu Yan's arm.
Xu Yan looked at the familiar face, but her aversion to her grew stronger.
"You are not her!" Xu Yan shouted, desperately trying to break free from "Chu Qidie's" grasp.
Chu Qidie could no longer keep up the act and revealed her true, ferocious nature, grabbing Xu Yan's hand viciously.
Jiang Qi helped separate the two and shielded Xu Yan with his body.
"Chu Qidie" also cackled, revealing its sharp teeth in an attack posture.
"Let's make a deal. If you let me eat her, I won't hurt you."
Jiang Qi wasn't buying it at all; believing in ghosts and monsters in a dungeon was no better than believing in a pig.
While confronting it, Jiang Qi was also silently protecting Xu Yan as she retreated.
At times like these, it's best not to provoke it. Before it completely transforms into a monster, you can still put up a fight with it.
The rules of this instance were a bit restrictive, but fortunately, this monster wasn't too smart; it just bared its teeth and started attacking them.
Jiang Qi also managed to defend himself with ease, and before he knew it, he had almost retreated to the stone gate at the exit.
Neither Lin Wanchu nor Lu Xue caught the eye of the ghosts, so they quickly reached the exit and stood there looking at Jiang Qi.
Lu Zhi followed closely beside Jiang Qi, and the ghost seemed unwilling to delay any longer.
A surge of resentment swept over, and the ghost swiftly moved in front of Xu Yan, opening its hideous maw to devour her.
Xu Yan covered her head with her hands in fear and called out the name that appeared in her memory.
"Chu Qidie!"
The ghost's figure paused, its face still bearing an expression of disbelief. Chu Qidie's body slowly fell to the ground, raising a speck of dust.
With the crisis temporarily averted, Jiang Qi carried Chu Qidie's body to the exit.
As soon as Jiang Qi put Chu Qidie's body on the ground, Xu Yan quickly squatted down and lay on top of Chu Qidie.
One hand gently stroked Chu Qidie's face, while the ear approached her heart.
Even though Xu Yan knew that Chu Qidie was dead, she still couldn't help but hope that this body would wake up.
Xu Yan also firmly believed that the one who would wake up this time would be Chu Qidie, whom she wanted to see.
At that moment, the whole world fell silent, and the sky was no longer blood red.
Xu Yan's tears had soaked Chu Qidie's clothes at the chest. While waiting, many memories of Chu Qidie flashed through Xu Yan's mind.
She couldn't help but smile bitterly as she recounted how her memories had been erased.
But none of that matters anymore. What matters is whether the Chu Qidie she wants can come back.
Perhaps hearing Xu Yan's inner cry, Chu Qidie's fingers twitched, and she finally opened her eyes, raising her hand to touch Xu Yan's head.
With a hoarse voice, she said, "Ayan, I'm back."
Xu Yan looked up in surprise and hugged Chu Qidie's body, crying.
Chu Qidie gently wiped away Xu Yan's tears, "Ayan, you still cry so easily after all this time."
"No, I'm crying tears of joy."
Xu Yan helped Chu Qidie up, and both of them looked at Jiang Qi with gratitude, especially Xu Yan, whose eyes were filled with tears.
At that moment, the system's announcement rang in everyone's minds.
[Congratulations to the players for successfully finding all seven school ghost stories, achieving 100% exploration completion.]
Jiang Qi was puzzled. Hadn't they only found six ghost stories? What about the last one? Was it going to end so hastily?
The group looked at each other, completely bewildered by the system's meaning. They recognized each word individually, but when put together, the system left them all puzzled.
Chu Qidie's voice woke everyone up, but she was mainly speaking to Jiang Qi.
"Thank you, Jiang Qi. Consider this last ghost story my thank-you gift to you."
"Come with me, I'll take you out of the instance."
