Jiang Ji moved the quilt out of her room and slept directly on the floor. The room was carpeted and heated, so it wasn't cold.

"Is Huo Wang asleep? If he is, get up and go back to sleep."

Huo Wang had barely gone downstairs when he received a phone call. The call was answered by that sullen voice.

"Get lost! Stop with that 'Huai Min Yi Wei Qin' nonsense. Get to the point."

The lights in the neighborhood were bright. Huo Wang picked a bench, sat down, lit a cigarette, and casually crossed his long legs.

"Want to go see the sea? We can drive there at dawn, and after a few hours, we can see the sunrise on the road. We can arrive in the evening, have dinner, and catch the sunset."

The person on the other end of the phone was talking excitedly, and the voices of several other people were also chattering.

“We can also rent a yacht together, or try fishing.”

"We're planning to stay longer this time. Are you free? If so, we'll come pick you up now."

Huo Wang listened quietly, then slowly yawned.

"You guys go ahead, I have something to do."

The cigarette in his hand flickered on and off. Huo Wang only smoked half of it before giving up and casually stubbed it out. Smoking this stuff made him sleepy, and when he got back, he wanted to wash up and go straight to bed.

"What's wrong? Aren't you the boss, running your own shop? Hand over the work to the shop assistants!"

In the past, people would come out as soon as you called them. This was the first time Huo Wang had called them and they hadn't come out. The person on the other end of the phone was even more curious.

"You're not short of money, you have plenty of time, and you're so young, why don't you go out and have fun? Or are you trying to stay healthy, Brother Huo?"

The person on the other end of the phone said it jokingly, without any ill intent.

"No, not at all. I'm taking care of the kids."

Huo Wang casually dropped a bombshell.

"What the heck, bringing a child? The trip is canceled, I'll go check it out."

The people on the other end of the phone said the same thing almost simultaneously, in perfect unison. It was as if they had planned it all.

Huo Wang was speechless. This was such a strange and unspoken understanding.

"Whose child is it? Huo Wang, you don't have a child, do you?"

The person on the other end asked.

“It’s not my child. It’s a friend’s child. She’s a single mother, and sometimes it’s not convenient for her to take care of the child.”

Although Huo Wang spoke calmly, there was always a hint of implication in his tone.

On the other end of the phone, a group of people dressed in various colors huddled together, glanced at their phones, and then looked at each other.

They exchanged glances without speaking, silently looking at each other.

"We're going to see the children. We'll arrive in Harbin tomorrow."

One of them said something and then immediately hung up the phone.

"What catches your eyes?"

Huo Wang muttered to himself as he threw the cigarette butt on the ground into the trash can. He then walked briskly into the house.

No matter how fierce the cold wind raged outside, it couldn't dissipate the warmth inside. A peaceful night's sleep ensued, and nothing else happened.

Huo Wang woke up early, and when he opened his eyes, it was almost 7:30. Anyway, he didn't have to go to work today, and the boss had the right to be late.

Just as he was about to lie back down on the bed for a while, Huo Wang suddenly remembered something and made a phone call.

"Jiang Ji, are you up yet?"

Jiang Zhuhua was so drunk yesterday, it's questionable whether he'll even be able to get out of bed today. Huo Wang wasn't sure if his assistant would come to take him to school, so he asked whenever he thought of it.

.

"Ok?"

Jiang Ji was half asleep when he was woken up by his phone. His voice was still hoarse, and he made a whimpering sound like a cat.

"You have class today. Is your mother still asleep?"

Huo Wang could tell from the voice that the other person was still half asleep. He hesitated, wondering if he should help take the child to school. Would that be too presumptuous?

"No."

Jiang Ji struggled to sit up, glanced at her phone, and felt her mind instantly clear. Usually, her mother would set an alarm. But last night, she'd forgotten to set it.

And Mom is still sleeping! I'm going to be late for class, and if I'm late, the teacher won't give me a red flower!

Jiang Ji immediately threw off the covers and ran to the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face.

"Wait a minute, I'll call your mother."

Huo Wang covered his face, feeling completely numb. He had been tentatively chasing after the person, but before he could catch up, he had already become a father.

After hanging up the phone, they called Jiang Zhuhua again.

"Hey, your son's going to be late for school. Can I take him there?"

To prevent the other party from being drunk or not remembering what happened after waking up, Huo Wang silently chose to record the conversation, which would prove his innocence if necessary.

"Ah."

The person on the other end seemed half-asleep, giving a muffled reply before dropping their phone with a thud. Huo Wang could feel it even on the other end of the line.

Okay, since they agreed anyway.

Huo Wang got up, quickly put on his clothes, and washed his face. He also sent a message to Xiao Liu, asking him to buy breakfast and deliver it to the entrance of the community.

There are breakfast shops near the repair shop, and the repair shop is quite close by. Xiao Liu and the others have already gone to work.

When Huo Wang came downstairs, Jiang Ji was already downstairs. Without saying much, Huo Wang carried her into the car, where Xiao Liu was waiting at the entrance of the residential complex.

"Eat first."

Huo Wang drove slowly, merging into the traffic. It was early morning, and everywhere was crowded. The area near the kindergarten was especially congested; there wasn't a parking space, and other parents were already preparing to leave.

Jiang Ji sat in the back seat eating steamed buns and drinking soy milk, finishing just as they arrived at the kindergarten gate.

"you are?"

Looking at the unfamiliar man today, Teacher Yang asked him with suspicion. Usually, it's the online assistant or An'an's mother who picks her up and drops her off.

I've never seen this person before. Teacher Yang should ask a few more questions.

“I’m a friend of his mother’s. His mother drank too much last night, so I’m helping her deliver it.”

After answering, Huo Wang watched the morning health check with curiosity. It was the first time he had ever seen a check-up for a toddler. The children were being checked back and forth by the kindergarten teachers to make sure they had no injuries, no fever, and were healthy.

"Okay. So, will An'an's mom come pick her up this afternoon, or..."

Teacher Yang asked the question as usual.

"I don't know. I'll message her later and we'll talk then."

Huo Wang shrugged and spread his hands. Jiang Zhuhua probably hasn't even processed what happened this morning when he dropped off the kids.

Who can say for sure what will happen at night?

"Goodbye, Huo Wang."

Jiang Ji waved and dashed into the kindergarten. Several children followed and came up to him, chattering excitedly around him.

A group of tiny little kids, not very tall, were making so much noise it sounded like hundreds of ducks were swarming around my ears.
