Chapter 27 Thor and Loki
Although Thor suffered a concussion, he was still a member of the Aesir, so his injury healed incredibly quickly.
The first thing he did upon waking was to run to see his older sister, but not to express his longing for her. Instead, he brandished Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, wanting to fight Hela.
Hela would never refuse such a good thing. After absorbing the power of Asgard, she used Thor's hammer to beat Thor to a pulp.
That's not all. Thor, that dim-witted guy, lay on the ground in a state of grief and indignation, shouting something like, "My hammer!"
The level of misery was so high, it felt like the male protagonist was NTR'd!
"Is your brother really brainless or what? Doesn't he know that this hammer used to be Hela's weapon?" Dio watched from afar, one hand on his younger brother's head.
Loki dared not move now. He had just planned to tease Dio with illusion magic, but his true location was immediately discovered.
Loki considered himself to be very skilled in magic, and Frigga often praised him. Although he knew that his illusion magic was insignificant in front of a great god like Odin, he had at least received personal instruction from Frigga, and ordinary god-level units could not easily find his true form.
But now Dio not only easily broke Loki's illusion, but also silenced Loki's magic after he was captured, preventing Loki from using any of his magic.
"He's probably just used to having everything go his way," Loki said with a fake smile, trying to break free from Dio's control.
Dio suddenly pinched Loki's head hard: "What are you trying to do? Mental magic has no effect on me."
Dio's sudden exertion caused Loki to stop his little action.
Just as Dio felt a mental force invading him, he knew without a doubt who it was. In all of Asgard, the only one with the ability and courage was Loki, who stood before him.
Although he couldn't even break through his own mental defenses, it has to be said that Loki's mental strength is very strong. Even when his magic was suppressed, he could still forcefully gather his mental strength to launch an attack, which shows that Loki's mental strength has reached the point where he can use it without relying on magic!
It's important to know that in the Marvel Comics universe, apart from mutants, very few people rely solely on mental power for attacks. Most of them depend on magical energy, and without the support of magic or energy, they revert to being ordinary people.
Upon arriving in Asgard, Dio clearly saw that the growth trajectories of these two little ones were still 90% the same as before: one was all muscle and relied on brute force to do everything, while the other was full of cleverness and his magical skills were indeed quite high, but he was unwilling to use them.
The magical atmosphere in Asgard is actually quite strong; from Odin to ordinary people, the use of magic is involved in all aspects of life.
However, there are very few full-time magicians.
Most of them use various high-tech and magical alchemical creations as aids.
In addition, Asgardian soldiers' fighting style is primarily melee-oriented, and magic or runes are mostly used to give soldiers enchantment-like effects, which means that magic is not the mainstream.
Loki, as a prince, is actually quite strong in close combat, but compared to Thor, he is not as good. Moreover, Loki's style of doing things is different from the mainstream of Asgard, which makes Thor more popular among the military and civilians, making Loki feel that his existence in Asgard is very awkward.
Luo Ji himself was somewhat stubborn. He would say he didn't like barbaric hand-to-hand combat, but secretly he cultivated both demonic and physical bodies.
But for some reason, he didn't master either aspect. He claimed to be the number one magician in the Nine Realms, but apart from illusion magic, he had few other skills that he could use effectively. His other magic was good at bullying mortals, but he had no decisive means against opponents of equal or stronger level.
As for his martial arts skills, aside from the soldiers of Asgard, he couldn't beat any warrior with even a little reputation. For example, in hand-to-hand combat, Loki could only rely on his cleverness to avoid being beaten up.
This is a classic example of being neither the best nor the worst.
In fact, many magical texts circulate throughout the universe. For example, the empire where Dio lived had copied almost every magical text that could be found in the universe and placed it on a planet specifically used as a library.
The kind of teleportation portals used by mages on Earth also exist. Dio saw various magical texts transmitted by Earth's gods and the Sorcerer Supreme while searching for different books.
Of course, magical artifacts like the Xuan Ring are extremely rare.
It is said that it was sold for an astronomical price on the black market.
In addition, the entry requirements for some magic are relatively strict, which means that although there are all kinds of magic books in the universe, very few people actually practice them.
After all, it's still the same old saying: why spend time developing something that even talent might not be able to master if a single planet-destroying missile can take down an opponent?
In the entire universe, apart from the empire where Dio resides, which has a complete production line for magicians, Earth is probably the only other place that can do this.
Thinking this through, Dio looked at Loki, who was in pain, and wondered whether he should take him to the Empire to participate in magician training.
After Loki eased his pain, he said, "I've heard about how powerful you are, brother-in-law. I've heard that you're incredibly strong in both magic and physical strength. I just want to give it a try."
"So, did you find anything out?" Dio smiled, watching Loki crack his knuckles.
"As expected, a person's reputation is well-deserved. To be able to build an empire single-handedly, one must be top-notch in both intellect and combat prowess!" Loki forced a smile as he praised.
Dio rolled his eyes: "I won't flatter you anymore. Come on, your brother's finished fighting, let's go down and have a match."
No sooner had he finished speaking than Dio dragged Loki into the arena, no matter how much Loki struggled.
Inside the arena, Hela pressed Thor down on her back, pinning him down so tightly that Thor could not break free no matter how much he struggled.
Thor, being stubborn as a mule, recklessly challenged Hela to a contest of strength, determined to get up despite Hela's foot pressing down on him.
However, Thor's strength is now far inferior to Hela's.
"Alright, Hela, the first match is over. Now the second match begins." With that, Dio grabbed Loki by the belt and threw him into the center of the arena.
"Loki!" Thor saw his brother being thrown to the ground in a sorry state, and he was overcome with grief. He roared and a thunderbolt struck down from the sky without any apparent purpose.
Hela scoffed at this, and with a flick of her wrist, Mjolnir, the lightning bolt was diverted. However, the bolt did not disappear but remained connected to the hammer, landing like a long whip formed from lightning.
Then, to the astonishment of everyone present, he picked up Mjolnir and left.
Thor truly loved his hammer, and ignoring Loki's disheveled state on the ground, he immediately rushed to Hela, wanting to retrieve his Mjolnir.
Dio smiled and waved, bypassing the arena's mechanisms to directly open the protective shield within the arena.
This protective shield is actually a smaller version of the Golden Palace protective shield, but its effect is the opposite.
The Golden Palace is meant to prevent outsiders from entering, but this protective shield is meant to prevent those inside from running away.
This was added to prevent people who like to use illusion magic (like Loki) from deserting in the face of danger.
