Tavern of the Spear: Desire for Pleasure

Chapter 42 Help from Cheng Yu

Three days passed in the blink of an eye. Evand lay on the simple bed in the Demon Tavern, staring at the meager number of Bevolkel coins in his hand, his heart filled with anxiety. In these three days, he had practically traversed the entire Hell City, trying almost every job imaginable, from busking in the plaza to organizing books in the library, from cleaning up garbage to mining in the mines, yet earning a pitifully small amount of money. At this rate, even by the day the auction began, he wouldn't have enough to buy He back.

He gripped the coin tightly in his hand, his knuckles turning white. Was he really going to give up? No, he couldn't give up! He had promised Luo he would rescue He. But what other way was there?

A terrible thought surfaced in his mind—to work in places that provided special services to demons. He knew very well how awful this idea was; even to save lives, he shouldn't sell his dignity. But the desire within him was like a venomous snake, constantly tempting him and devouring his reason.

"Just consider it a good start to getting used to it..." Evand finally found a flimsy excuse for himself, "What if I find a girlfriend later and she says I'm too naive?" Driven by desire, he arrived at the shop's entrance. The shop was lavishly decorated, and two scantily clad succubi stood at the door, winking seductively at the demons passing by. Evand took a deep breath, suppressing his fear and shame, and went inside.

The shop was dimly lit, filled with a cloyingly sweet fragrance, and the air was thick with an ambiguous atmosphere. Evans found the shop owner, a fat, devilish man with two curved horns on his head and a fawning smile plastered on his face. "Boss, I'd like to find a job here."

The shopkeeper sized Evand up and down, a greedy glint in his eyes. Evand was handsome and had a pure air about him—exactly the type of guy those demon nobles craved. If he used him as a shill, he'd definitely attract a lot of customers, and he could make a fortune, all while paying Evand a pittance.

“Of course,” the boss readily agreed. “However, there are some rules you must be aware of when working here.”

Evans' heart began to race. "What rules?"

"It's very simple, just provide good service to customers and make them satisfied." The boss paused, then said meaningfully, "Of course, these customers are all devils, and the service they want is not necessarily easy."

Evans' face turned pale. He vaguely guessed what his boss meant, but he had no way out. So what could he do but bite the bullet and agree?

“I understand.” Evand’s voice trembled slightly.

“Very good,” the boss patted Evans on the shoulder, “I believe you will become our most popular employee.”

Evans forced a smile, knowing he was about to step into an abyss filled with danger and temptation. But he had no choice; to rescue He, he had to take the gamble.

As time passed, Evand gradually became numb in this den of demons. He dealt with the perverse demands of various demons like a walking corpse, the physical aches and mental torment driving him to the brink of collapse. Especially those enormous demons; each "service" felt like a journey through hell, and several times they almost sent him to heaven.

On the fifth day of the work week, Evand finally had a considerable amount of Bevolkel coins saved up, but it was still far from enough to buy He. He dared not let his guard down, because he couldn't predict whether other items that interested him would appear before He. If he made an impulsive purchase, He would truly be doomed. He decided to grit his teeth and persevere for two more days.

Today, his boss arranged a special private room for him, saying that a distinguished guest had specifically requested his service. Evans pushed open the door to the room, and a familiar figure came into view.

"Cheng Yu?!" Evan exclaimed, instinctively covering his face. He never expected to run into Cheng Yu here, especially under these circumstances. Being caught doing something like this by an acquaintance was worse than hell. A wave of shame washed over him, almost drowning him.

Cheng Yu looked at him with a half-smile, "What, are you surprised to see me?"

Evand stammered, unable to speak, his heart filled with fear and despair. He was afraid that Cheng Yu would tell Nexus about it, and even more afraid that Snow would be disappointed in him if he found out.

"What would Nexus think if he knew you were doing this kind of thing here?" Cheng Yu's tone was slightly mocking.

Evand could no longer bear the torment. His knees buckled, and he knelt before Cheng Yu. "Please, don't tell Nexus, and don't tell my father..." His voice choked, and tears streamed down his face.

Seeing Evan's disheveled appearance, Cheng Yu stopped smiling and sighed, "Actually, I didn't come here to see you make a fool of yourself."

Evans looked up at him with a puzzled expression.

“I’m here to help you too.” Cheng Yu paused, then continued, “I know you want to save He, and I want to help you too.”

Hearing this, a glimmer of hope ignited in Evand's eyes. "Really? You're willing to help me?"

Cheng Yu nodded. "However, I'm not here to do this kind of thing with you." He pointed to the furnishings in the room, his tone slightly teasing. "I'm here to play the 'knight riding a dragon,' not the 'dragon being ridden.'"

Evand then understood Cheng Yu's meaning, and asked worriedly, "But those demons are very powerful, you..."

Cheng Yu interrupted him, "Don't worry, I have a way to deal with them." He leaned close to Evand's ear and whispered, "Demons are all bullies who prey on the weak. You just need to act tough, and they won't bother you. Besides, they like excitement, so..."

Evand nodded as if he understood, then suddenly realized that perhaps from the very beginning he had fallen into a mental trap, or rather, he had become so used to playing the role of "the dragon being ridden" that he had forgotten how to resist.

Evand calmed down a bit, feeling much lighter. Someone could help him make money; at least he wouldn't have to face those terrifying demons alone anymore. However, he thought of Hakan, the tall red dragon in the Spear Tavern. Cheng Yu and Hakan were a couple, and now Cheng Yu was doing this kind of thing here… Should he remind Cheng Yu?

Seemingly seeing through Evand's thoughts, Cheng Yu waved his hand dismissively: "I know quite a bit about the dragon race. I'm just playing around outside, I won't bring it home. Besides, I'm the king in this relationship, how dare Hakan disobey me?" He paused, then added: "Furthermore, hasn't Hakan done enough in the past? I've never mentioned it, so why should he tell me what to do?"

Evand nodded, seemingly understanding, a new understanding of the dragons' "open relationships" forming. He began to wonder how Cheng Yu would "entertain" the upcoming guests. Those demons who usually spent the entire day in this private room might encounter some "surprises" today.

Not long after, the boss led several demons in. These demons were regulars here, each one burly and ferocious-looking, clearly not to be trifled with. Their eyes lit up when they saw Evand, revealing greedy smiles.

"Hey, isn't this our little darling?" One of the demons rubbed his hands together, eager to pounce on him.

However, Cheng Yu stood in front of Evand, a playful smile on his face: "Everyone, I'm the main character today."

The demons were stunned for a moment, looking Cheng Yu up and down with doubt in their eyes.

“Who are you?” a demon asked. “We ordered Evand’s services.”

Cheng Yu smiled slightly, revealing sharp teeth: "Sorry, Evande is my personal waiter today. If you want to play, you'll have to get past me first."

The demons exchanged bewildered glances, seemingly surprised by this turn of events. They had assumed they could toy with Evand as they pleased, but unexpectedly, a formidable opponent had appeared out of nowhere.

"Kid, do you know who we are?" a demon said arrogantly. "You dare block our way? You're tired of living!"

Cheng Yu remained unmoved, still smiling: "I don't care who you are, I'm in charge here today."

Several demons roared and charged at Cheng Yu, brandishing their weapons. A fierce battle ensued inside the private room. Although Cheng Yu was smaller than the demons, his speed and strength far surpassed that of ordinary people.

Or perhaps he used other abilities, since his "photographs" have many uses.

He skillfully dodged the demons' attacks while simultaneously using his dagger to precisely strike their vital points.

The battle lasted a long time, leaving the private room in a mess, with signs of fighting everywhere. In the end, Cheng Yu, with his formidable strength and superb skills, subdued all the demons.

Looking at the demon lying on the ground howling in pain, Cheng Yu dusted himself off and said to Evand, "Alright, the troublemaker has been dealt with, we can continue."

Evand watched this scene with shock and admiration. He hadn't expected Cheng Yu to be so powerful, capable of defeating so many ferocious demons single-handedly.

"You...you're amazing!" Evand exclaimed sincerely.

Cheng Yu smiled. "It's nothing, just a few tricks." He paused, then added, "Now, let's get down to business. How do you want to play?"

“Uh…” Evan looked around. All the demons were lying on the ground. Weren’t they dead?

"Tsk, what are you thinking? If demons were this easy to kill, they wouldn't be demons... Alright, you guys get the hell up!"

Upon hearing Cheng Yu's words, the demons lying on the ground actually staggered to their feet. Their faces were plastered with fawning smiles, and their eyes were filled with fear and obsequiousness as they looked at Cheng Yu.

“My lord, what would you like?” a demon asked cautiously. “If you like this little wolf cub, we can give him to you.” As he spoke, he gave Evand a fawning look.

Cheng Yu shook his head, a wicked smile playing on his lips: "No need, I came here today for you." He paused, his gaze sweeping over the demons, his tone meaningful, "I want you."

The demons exchanged glances, seemingly weighing the pros and cons. Ultimately, they made the same decision—to submit.

“We’re all obedient,” one of the demons said, bowing and scraping. “But, sir, may I ask… where shall we begin? In this private room?”

Cheng Yu nodded: "Right here."

Several demons immediately began to undress, their movements practiced and swift, as if they had done it countless times before. Evand watched in stunned silence; he had never seen anything like it before and was momentarily at a loss for words.

Cheng Yu walked over to Evand, patted him on the shoulder, and said with a smile, "Don't just stand there, come and help."

Evans then came to his senses and rushed forward to help. Although he didn't understand what Cheng Yu was trying to do, his intuition told him that it was definitely not a good thing.

(I don't know what happened either (o?n), after all, if I write any more, I'll be sent to the dark room, hehe~)
