Tavern of the Spear: Desire for Pleasure

The Second Children's Tavern

(Oh, right, I forgot to write the first chapter. The plot of this book is similar to the plot of the game, but I have enriched some of the dialogue and changed some minor details. These are all my personal interpretations, so please don't criticize me. Also, please throw your head away and don't read this with your brain in mind, after all, this is my first time writing fanfiction.)

"Holy crap! Why is it raining so hard all of a sudden?!"

Cheng Yu looked at the sky in bewilderment. He and Evan had only been walking deep into the forest for a short while when the rain inexplicably intensified and the surrounding fog grew thicker and thicker.

Although Cheng Yu knew the plot, he still felt it was too outrageous. The sudden rain was completely illogical. He had already transmigrated, yet he was still concerned about logic.

"Phew~ Let's hurry and find a place to take shelter from the rain. If this continues, there might be a flash flood or something!" Cheng Yu turned to look at Evande. Like him, Evande was also soaked by the rain. He was drenched all over, and his hair, which was originally standing up, was now hanging down. His mouth looked particularly comical, like a meat stick.

Evand nodded. Being soaked in the rain was really unpleasant, especially when resources were scarce, and that was exactly what Evand felt at that moment.

Cheng Yu held onto Evan's paw and wandered around in the forest until, 10 minutes later, they returned to their original spot.

"Damn it! I refuse to believe I can't get out of this hellish forest!"

So Cheng Yu pulled Evand's paw and walked through the forest for another twenty minutes, only to find themselves back at the starting point. If they continued like this, they would eventually develop hypothermia, which was a very serious condition and could very well be fatal.

Meanwhile, the rain was pouring down harder and harder, as if it were deliberately targeting Cheng Yu, which made Cheng Yu feel even worse.

Evand, who had been silent until now, finally spoke: "How about I give it a try?"

Actually, Evan had been wanting to say this, but seeing Cheng Yu's persistence, he felt embarrassed to bother him.

"Uh... I'm sorry, it's all my fault for keeping you stuck for so long. You lead the way..." After hearing Evand's words, Cheng Yu remembered that he had brought a wolf-beastman with him.

“It’s alright, just stick close to me in a bit…” Evan didn’t care about Cheng Yu, after all, this was the first time he had met someone of his kind on this journey.

Evand gently pulled Cheng Yu's hand. Cheng Yu looked up and secretly glanced at Evand's back. His face flushed, but he quickly suppressed it.

Aivend led Cheng Yu through the forest, and the rain poured down harder and harder. Cheng Yu had no memory of this happening before, so it was very likely because of her.

Just then, with a deafening roar, a flash flood erupted, and the raging torrent surged towards Evan and Cheng Yu from behind.

Seeing this, Evan quickly grabbed Cheng Yu's hand and ran towards the nearest giant tree.

With his sharp claws and accumulated experience, Evan quickly climbed the giant tree. Then he turned to Cheng Yu and shouted, "Hurry up and climb up!"

Cheng Yu had also thought of this method. He quickly got up and pounced on the tree. Just as its claws were about to collide with Evand's claws, he was directly submerged by the raging flood.

Evand's outstretched claws lingered in mid-air for a few seconds. Evand stared at the scene with disbelief at the raging floodwaters below the tree.

Evan looked down at the floodwaters beneath the tree; Cheng Yu was nowhere to be seen in this flood.

"Cheng Yu...we just met, why..."

Evand didn't know how he felt. He had only met Cheng Yu not long ago, and they were both werewolf beastmen... but Cheng Yu knew him very well... but...

A tear had unknowingly welled up in Evand's eye.

After the flood, the forest was in ruins. Evan stood alone on a giant tree, watching the floodwaters recede, but the grief in his heart was as overwhelming as the tide.

He stared intently in the direction where Cheng Yu had disappeared, his heart filled with guilt and disappointment.

The prolonged tension and physical exertion left Evans feeling extremely exhausted. He persevered and climbed down the tree, beginning his search for a place to rest in the forest.

He walked through the muddy ground. The rain hadn't stopped, though it had lessened considerably. Every cell in Evans' body was exhausted, but he didn't stop. He knew that only by finding a safe place could he continue searching for Cheng Yu.

Finally, he saw a luminous shell. Evand followed the light and found himself in a tavern. On the manager's door hung four large characters: Spear Tavern.

Evans struggled toward the tavern, but collapsed at the entrance and passed out.

At the same time, Cheng Yu lost consciousness due to the impact of the flood.

When he awoke again, he found himself lying in a ravine. He felt pain all over his body, as if he had been crushed by a heavy object. He struggled to get up and found that his wounds had been washed clean with water, but his exhaustion and weakness still made it difficult for him to move.

Cheng Yu tried hard to recall what had happened before. He remembered that he and Evande got lost in the forest and then encountered a flash flood.

He desperately tried to grab Evand's hand, but was ultimately swept away by the flood. He didn't know how far he had been swept away, or what time or place he was in.

Cheng Yu struggled to his feet, trying to find a way out. He found himself in a narrow ravine, surrounded by steep cliffs.

Now, Cheng Yu only had one question in his mind: Where exactly is this place?

Cheng Yu shook his head, trying to clear the chaotic thoughts in his mind. Then he took a deep breath, trying to regain his strength, and walked deeper into the ravine.

He walked for an unknown amount of time before finally seeing a glimmer of light. He followed the light and found the exit just ahead. Excitedly, he quickened his pace and finally emerged from the ravine.

The sight before him stunned Cheng Yu. He found himself amidst ruins, with a dilapidated temple standing before him.

He looked around, trying to find Evand, but to no avail.

That's true. Evand had already climbed up a tree, how could he possibly be swept away like me?

Cheng Yu chuckled to himself, then continued to observe his surroundings, but the more he observed, the more uneasy he felt.

Cheng Yu was filled with doubt and worry. He didn't know if Evan had also survived, or if Evan's eyesight was failing now.

He took a deep breath and decided to rest in the dilapidated temple first to regain his strength before going to find Evand.

Cheng Yu entered the dilapidated temple and found it in a mess, as if it hadn't been cleaned for a long time, but there were still some usable items.

He found some clean water and food, and without much thought, he ate a few bites before lying down to rest. His exhaustion quickly lulled him into a deep sleep.

After he fell asleep, a figure appeared beside him.

"Heh, another interesting little fellow..."

Meanwhile, Evand had been unconscious at the tavern entrance for a long time before being awakened by a noisy commotion and a somewhat rude voice.

"Hey! Wake up! Get up now, don't make me late for work!"

"What's wrong with me? My head hurts so much!" Evan felt that the voice was familiar, but because of the headache, he couldn't quite remember where he had heard it before.

Evans' head felt like it had been hit by a rock, the pain was excruciating, and his vision was also very blurry. It took him a while to gradually see his surroundings clearly.

Evand wanted to observe his surroundings, but as soon as he turned his head, he bumped his head on the bench, which made him wince in pain.

A rough yet familiar voice interrupted his thoughts once again.

"Hey kid! This floor isn't for you to sleep on! If you want to sleep here, you'll have to pay!"

Evan looked in the direction from which the sound came, and the wolf froze instantly.

One word escaped his lips: "Father?!"

The wolf-orc, whom Evand called "father," gave Evand a somewhat displeased look.

The wolf-orc in front of Evand was much more robust than Evand himself, with gray fur and two long braids tied on his head that reached down to his chest.

Staring intently into a pair of blue eyes, Evand felt no fear, but rather warmth. He hadn't seen his father in a long time, and he even wanted to keep staring at the wolf-beastman in front of him a little longer.

The surrounding orcs burst into laughter upon hearing Evand's address to the wolf orcs.

"Old man! That guy actually called you 'Dad'!"

"Wow! Snow, I didn't know you had kids!"

……

As these sounds appeared, Evand noticed that Snow's expression grew increasingly grim.

However, this look wasn't meant for Evand: "If you guys say another word, I'll raise the price of all your drinks from now on!"

The tavern fell silent instantly after that shout.

Snow then turned to Evand: "Kid, I don't know what nonsense you were spouting? Your brain must have been ruined by this rain, you're just talking nonsense! I dare say, I've never seen you before!"

“Dad, I’m all grown up now, stop making such childish jokes, okay? But what are you doing here?” Evand acted as if he hadn’t heard Snow’s words and continued to use the same form of address as before.

Although Snow was furious, he still "patiently" explained to Evand: "Kid! Let me tell you, I'm not your father! My name is Snow! I'm the tavern owner here, and you either order something or I'll throw you out!"

“Yes, I know you’re Snow, but what’s this ‘Old Man Bartender’?” Evan looked at Snow with some confusion.

"Kid, I'll say it again! I'm not your father. If everyone were like you, claiming every stranger as their father, how unfortunate would their father be! So, kid, stop calling me father!"

Seeing Snow's angry expression, Evand suddenly realized that Snow wasn't joking. But the Snow in front of him really did look exactly like his father, and even had the same voice. How could he not be his father?

So Evan decided to continue calling him "Dad": "Okay, Dad. I don't know how to convince you, but I think it's enough that you're my dad."

At this moment, Snow looked extremely helpless. He had never seen anything like this before, and he didn't know what to say.

Finally, he sighed helplessly, "Alright, 'son,' I'm your dad now, so can you please shut up for a bit and let your old man get back to work, okay?"

"Uh... okay, Dad!"

After Snow left, Evand began to really observe the tavern. However, the customers in the tavern were looking at him with strange eyes, which made him quite uncomfortable, since he felt that Snow was his father.

What first caught Evand's attention in the tavern was a small room on the right side of the tavern, where a hound-like beastman was peeking out its little head to greet him.

There was also a large green lizard that looked very busy, with particularly striking scales; it looked like it was keeping track of bills.

Apart from that, there was a red dragon orc whose snoring was unusually loud, but Evand didn't think there was anything else about the other customers that he needed to pay attention to.

Snow, seeing Evan standing in the tavern, impatiently approached him.

"So, 'son,' have you thought about anything yet?"

"Huh? Dad, do I need to pay again?"

"What! A 'son' drinks at his father's tavern and doesn't have to pay? What kind of logic is that? Looks like I'm quite useless as a 'son'!"

"No way!" Evand was determined not to let his father look down on him, so he had to prove himself. But after he searched his entire body, he discovered that his purse seemed to be gone.

In an instant, he felt as if the sky was about to fall, even more disheartened than when Cheng Yu was swept away by the flood.

Cheng Yu: It seems I've misplaced my trust...

“Hey! ‘Son,’ let me teach you a lesson. In this tavern, you can’t buy anything without money!” Snow said and left. He had a lot of work to do and no time to waste on Evand.

However, Snow seemed very worried about Evand and turned to look at him again: "Recently, monsters have been appearing frequently near the tavern. Hakan also occasionally drives away the monsters around to ensure the safety of the tavern. Last time he drove away monsters, he injured his knee and can't move around yet."

"If you can, take your sword and slay a few monsters; perhaps I can give you a few bags of gold coins."

Finally, Snow truly left. Snow didn't know why he cared so much about this young man; perhaps it really was because of that relationship...

"Thank you... Dad!" Evan shouted excitedly, an action that instantly attracted the attention of a group of drunks in the tavern, making Evan extremely embarrassed.

Feeling embarrassed, Evan quickly left the tavern. He didn't have many opportunities to impress his father, and he couldn't afford to miss them.

Meanwhile, Cheng Yu's condition also improved.

He was lying on a soft bed, his body wrapped in bandages. From his slightly open eyes, it was clear that he was about to wake up.

"Ouch! That hurts!" Cheng Yuzhen, who had just woken up, tried to turn over and get out of bed, but the movement made him wince in pain. He was experiencing the pain of a severe muscle strain for the first time.

"You're awake... What an interesting little guy. You've suffered such serious injuries, yet you've woken up so quickly. I had predicted it would take at least three days for you to wake up, but I didn't expect you to wake up so soon."

At this moment, a black dragon beastman was standing opposite Cheng Yu's bed. The black dragon beastman's mane was white, almost covering his entire head. There were blue patterns flowing like the starry sky on his two claw arms. His clothes were rather plain, and even had several large holes in them. It was clear that he hadn't changed his clothes in a long time.

When Cheng Yu saw the dragon, he immediately understood where he was.

At this moment, it seems that the black dragon is fiddling with something on its claws. Judging from the color, it should be some herbs.

"Now that you're awake, why don't you drink this herb? It'll help your injuries heal faster..."

The black dragon orc turned its head, holding a bowl in its paw. Inside the bowl was a ball of green medicine. Cheng Yu had no desire to eat it unless it was "imported" by the black dragon orc in front of him.
