I've been transported to the orc continent.

Chapter 5: First Time Leaving the Tribe

Feng went to the storeroom and found a piece of snow-white animal hide.

The snow beast is a small animal similar to a rabbit, except that its ears are not long, but small and round like a bear's.

Snow animals will still appear as usual in the coldest winter. Their fur is very soft and has excellent insulation, making it the best choice for making clothes for their cubs.

Feng handed the snow beast hide to Bai Ling: "Your father caught a snow beast a few days ago, saying he wanted to save it up to make you a pair of gloves. He hasn't had time to process the hide yet."

Bai Ling shoveled the ashes out of the hearth. Since there were no sieves in the tribe, he used a stick to remove the unburnt charcoal and put all the remaining ashes into a ceramic basin.

Bai Ling poured water into the ceramic basin and began stirring it with a stick. She scooped out the floating trash with leaves. Once the wood ash had completely dissolved in the water and there was no more trash on the surface, Bai Ling stopped stirring.

To process the animal hides, Feng dug a water pit by the yard, and Bai Ling followed suit, digging a small pit next to it.

The snow beast hide wasn't big; two puddles the size of Bai Ling's palm were enough.

Bai Ling slowly poured the soaked wood ash water into the pit, put the snow beast skin in, and then weighed it down with a stone.

Actually, saltpeter is the best material for tanning animal hides. If saltpeter is unavailable, wood ash can be used as a substitute for now.

Feng was processing animal hides on the side, glancing at his son every now and then. Seeing that his son was doing things in an orderly manner, he couldn't hide the smile in his eyes.

He didn't care how much his son learned in his dreams; he would be content as long as his son regained his senses and became a normal beastman.

"Father, when are you going out?" Bai Ling asked. "Father, I want to go out with you."

Feng kept working, then looked up at his son: "Ling, your injury hasn't healed yet, so I won't be going out for a while."

Bai Ling wanted to go out and see the world as soon as possible; if his father didn't go out, he certainly couldn't go out either.

“Father, winter is just over a month away. We need to hurry up and store food for the winter. It’s not enough for you and my brother to hunt and gather. We also need to do our part.”

Feng said, "No, you haven't recovered yet, I can't take you out."

Bai Ling: "Father, Uncle Zhao said I'm fine now. I just need to rest for two days and I'll be completely better. I've been resting at home for two days now, and I can go out tomorrow."

The orc is in excellent physical condition. Yesterday he was dizzy and weak, but today he is much better. He has strength and his dizziness has lessened.

He felt he was almost fully recovered and could go out and see the world.

Of course, the wind disagreed: "No, I don't agree."

Bai Ling began to whine, "Father, let's just wander around the area around the tribe, we don't need to go too far. Father, if you don't take me out, I'll go out by myself."

Bai Ling seemed determined to go out, leaving Feng with no choice but to agree to his son's request.

However, it won't work tomorrow; we have to wait until the day after tomorrow, and we can only wander around the area around the tribe, not go too far.

Bai Ling transformed into her beast form and ran to the riverbank to see what her beast form actually looked like.

A majestic white lion was reflected in the river. Its fur was pure white without a single blemish, and its eyes were as bright as obsidian. However, its gaze lacked the ferocity of a wild beast and instead carried a hint of adorable innocence.

Bai Ling was quite satisfied with his beast form. Although it wasn't as tall and fierce as his father's, it was still a beautiful white lion.

Feng was a white wolf. His beast form was smaller than Bai Ling's, with a shoulder width of about one and a half meters. When he stood up, he was about the height of a person and about four or five meters long. His white fur was very thick, and there was no ferocity in his pale yellow eyes. He nodded to Bai Ling and turned to walk east.

Bai Ling let out a "woof" and quickly followed.

When orcs transform into their animal form, they cannot speak; they communicate entirely through roars of varying lengths.

Bai Ling's body had not fully recovered, so they did not walk fast. This place was very close to the tribe, and there was nothing to collect. Not to mention a gathering team, even the children would not come here to look for food.

The beasts in the orc world are all larger than those on Earth, and the vegetation is much more lush. Bai Ling walked along, carefully searching the grass to see if he could find anything useful. He walked for almost an hour, but found nothing but weeds.

A flock of birds flew overhead, and Bai Ling became interested. He ran after the birds and soon arrived at a stream.

The stream was small; Bai Ling could cross it in a single step. The banks were covered with lush green vegetation, which was more abundant than elsewhere thanks to the nourishment of the stream.

Bai Ling was staring at a black bird, but suddenly his eyes narrowed, and then he started running quickly.

Feng's heart tightened, and he quickly followed, yelling "Awoo Awoo!" as he ran, signaling his son to stop immediately.

Bai Ling could naturally understand what his father's calls meant, but he simply couldn't stop because he had discovered something good.

This is a great thing that can solve the food shortage problem in winter.

Many plants grow along the stream, one of which has clusters of green leaves. The leaves are long and oval, arranged like slightly open palms. Below are red stems, and at the top are strings of small white flowers. There are quite a few of these plants along the stream, and several birds are pecking at their seeds.

Bai Ling ran to the plant in a few steps. He first circled around one of the plants, then brought his nose close and carefully smelled the small white flowers at the top of the plant.

There doesn't seem to be any fragrance of flowers.

Bai Ling lowered its head and began to dig up the roots of this plant with its large claws.

The wind had caught up with them, and he saw his son digging up large blades of grass. He was so frightened that his paws were trembling. He didn't even dare to think about anything and immediately went forward to hold his son's paws down tightly.

Bai Ling was digging enthusiastically when his father, as if possessed, rushed over and grabbed his paws, yelling incessantly: "You can't dig this! You absolutely can't dig this!"

Bai Ling also cried out, "This thing is useful, we must dig it up!"

The father and son kept shouting at each other, neither able to convince the other.

Since communication in animal form was limited, the father and son went behind the tree and transformed into human form. Bai Ling put on an animal skin skirt and rushed out quickly, but the wind was faster than him and was already waiting in front of the clump of plants.

Feng's expression was serious: "Ling, this is a large root grass, you absolutely cannot touch it. Its roots are poisonous, you will die if you eat it."
