Chapter 44 Returning to the Tribe
It was completely dark, and the last rays of sunlight on the horizon had completely disappeared.
Torches were lit in the square, but they could only illuminate a small area of the square. Further away, everything was shrouded in a hazy mist, and only the approximate shapes of the plants, trees, and rocks could be seen.
Things that looked ordinary during the day seemed to transform into terrifying monsters under these circumstances, all baring their fangs and claws as if they were about to pounce at any moment.
Feng was extremely anxious. He kept his eyes fixed on the outside of the tribe, but the figure he hoped to see never appeared.
Ling and Yue went out early in the morning, saying they were going to find Shi Tou. They said they would be back before dark, but now it's almost completely dark and the two of them still haven't returned.
The tribespeople often spend the night outside, but that's usually for hunting and patrolling. Orcs who go out to gather resources don't stay out overnight. Ling went out to find stones, and hasn't returned yet. Could something have happened to her?
Feng grew increasingly frightened and anxious as he thought about it. His son was different from the other orcs; he had hardly ever left the tribe since he was a child, yet he hadn't returned by this late hour. Feng didn't even dare to think about it anymore.
He could no longer hold back, grabbed his partner's hand, his eyes reddening: "Cang, we have to go find Ling, he's never done this before."
Cang was also very worried, but as the head of the family and the support of his partner and children, he couldn't panic.
Cang reached out and gently patted his partner's shoulder, comforting him, "Feng and Yue are very capable and experienced. They probably found something good, which is why they came back late."
"Let's wait a little longer. If they still don't come back, we'll go look for them."
Feng knew that Yue was very powerful, and with him around, his son was likely to be safe. But as a father, how could he not worry about his son not returning so late? Moreover, his son was different from the other orcs and had no ability to protect himself outside.
The clansmen around him tried to comfort Feng, but Feng felt no sense of relief. Instead, he became even more worried. He stared intently into the darkness outside, praying in his heart that his son would return soon.
Cang continued to comfort his partner, but before he could finish speaking, a long wolf howl rang out in the distance, and a tribesman shouted, "Yue, that's Yue's howl. He says he's fine."
This was the howl of a wolf announcing that everything was alright. Upon hearing it, Feng and Cang felt a huge weight lifted from their hearts. Since Yue was alright, their son must be alright too.
Feng, Cang, Chen, and the clansmen guarding the place ran out together. Before their eyes, a white dot grew closer and closer, and soon a white wolf bathed in moonlight appeared before them.
The white wolf was carrying someone on its back. Because the light was dim, no one could see who the person was, but Feng and Cang knew that it was their son, Ling.
Feng was finally relieved; her son was alright.

Bai Ling was naturally overjoyed to find iron ore. He simply emptied the limestone from his basket and searched for iron ore with Yue.
Bai Ling guessed that there might be an iron mine upstream of the river, and the iron ore was washed out from that mine.
The two searched slowly at the location where the moon had found the iron ore, and soon found the second piece of iron ore.
This piece of iron ore was relatively small, with more yellowish-brown on it. Bai Ling held the iron ore in her hands and almost kissed it.
The fact that they found a second piece of iron ore so close by indicates that there might be a lot of iron ore on this riverbank. If they search carefully, they will definitely find a third piece of iron ore.
Indeed, Bai Ling and Yue slowly searched along the riverbank and eventually found more than half a basket of iron ore.
Bai Ling was so focused on finding iron ore that he didn't notice the time. He wanted to continue searching, but Yue stopped him: "Ling, it's getting late, we have to go back."
Bai Ling looked up and saw that the sun was still high in the sky, not even setting in the west yet. Why was it said that it was getting late?
Yue seemed to sense his confusion and explained, "This place is too far from the tribe. We've already wasted a lot of time. If we go back now, it will be dark before we can get back to the tribe. If we continue searching, we won't be able to get back to the tribe until midnight."
Wild animals roam the tribal territory. He wasn't afraid of wild animals, but Ling was different. He had to ensure Ling's safety and couldn't stay here any longer.
Bai Ling patted her head and said apologetically, "Yue, it's all my fault. I forgot about this. Let's go back."
Yue said, "Ling, I'll transform into my beast form later, and you can sit on my back. I'll carry you back, and that will be faster."
Upon hearing this, Bai Ling felt a surge of joy, but he still put on a somewhat embarrassed expression: "Yue, isn't this a bit inappropriate? Won't I cause you trouble?"
Yue shook her head and said, "How could it be troublesome? I often carry my people on my back. Ling, I'll transform into my beast form now. You carry the basket on your back. We need to hurry back, or it will be unsafe on the road."
Bai Ling said nothing. Yue transformed into its beast form behind the rock, lay down in front of Bai Ling, tied the basket to its back, and then jumped onto Yue's back. Yue's beast form was beautiful and very tall, with a back that was almost a meter wide, more than enough for Bai Ling to sit on.
Bai Ling gripped the straw rope binding the basket tightly, and Yue let out a howl as she stood up.
When Yue called out, Bai Ling smiled and said, "Yue, I'm all set. We can set off now."
Yue called out again, then nimbly jumped up and quickly led Bai Ling out of the rocky beach.
The moon moved very fast, and the trees and bushes on both sides rushed past. Because she was holding onto the grass rope, Bai Ling was able to sit relatively steadily on the moon's back.
He didn't look at the scenery rushing past on either side; his obsidian-like eyes were fixed on the white wolf running at full speed.
The way the white wolf ran can only be described in four words: agile and graceful.
Just like perfectly combining the agility of sprinting with the grace of gymnastics, it gives people an unparalleled visual enjoyment.
They didn't stop along the way, except for a short rest by a stream, and finally made it back to the tribe before the moon rose.
Bai Ling was overjoyed to have found the iron ore, but when he saw his father, brother, and tribesmen waiting in front of the tribe, he realized that he had worried them.
Especially when she saw her father finally breathe a sigh of relief, Bai Ling knew how worried her father had been for her.
