A passerby in a horror movie

Chapter 9 Time Travel, Zombie World War

Video content:

"Gerry Lane and his family encounter a zombie virus outbreak during a traffic jam. As the virus spreads rapidly and the city descends into chaos, Gerry leads his family to escape and learns along the way that many parts of the world have been affected."

They eventually escaped to a ship where scientists and military personnel were analyzing the outbreak.

Gerry was then told that in order to protect his family, he had to help the government find the origin of the virus.

Gerry and scientist Fassback travel to a U.S. military base in South Korea and discover that the virus was brought back to the base by a doctor.

After a CIA double agent at the base provided information about the Israeli Jerusalem Safe Zone, Gerry traveled to Jerusalem.

There, he discovered a startling fact: zombies ignore those who are severely injured or ill because they are not suitable for viral reproduction. This discovery provides humans with a form of "zombie camouflage" that can be used to protect survivors.

Gerry confirms his theory at a World Health Organization facility and is eventually reunited with his family. The film ends with a scene of a global zombie outbreak and humanity's fight back using "zombie disguises."

After watching the video, the file disappeared automatically, and Li Haotian also finished processing his identity memories.

He rubbed his head, opened the backpack next to his seat, and found his identification information inside.

He is currently an Asian man living alone in Boston and works as a salesman for a company.

Today is a holiday, and I'm about to take the subway home.

Li Haotian checked the time on his phone; it was already 5 PM.

The subway was fairly normal; apart from a few odd passengers, there was nothing strange about it.

However, he did not let his guard down. In the world of World War Z, the zombie virus has swept the globe, and zombies could appear at any moment.

Li Haotian searched for recent news on his phone and, sure enough, saw many reports about riots and zombies.

He estimated that quite a few zombies had already appeared.

In the movie, the protagonist, Gerry, and his family are also attacked in Boston. If things are already chaotic outside, he has to find a way to avoid being infected with the zombie virus, otherwise, given the speed at which the virus spreads, he has no hope of survival.

Fortunately, a solution has already been provided in the movie.

Zombies will not attack people who are seriously injured or ill.

Because the zombie virus needs a healthy host to spread, it is not interested in these people, which is equivalent to it going invisible.

"Being seriously injured is one thing, but it's best not to use this move unless absolutely necessary."

"You can go to a nearby hospital or disease control center to see if they can find some severe, non-fatal, and curable viruses for injection or infection,"

Li Haotian calculated that, given his current status, he wouldn't have access to the World Health Organization's laboratories, but finding a suitable virus wouldn't be difficult.

There are many patients infected with the virus in large hospitals, and the virus is also stored in disease control centers.

Once you're infected with the virus, you won't have to fear zombie attacks.

Fortunately, one of my classmates with the same background works at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

As he was pondering, the subway arrived at its destination, and Li Haotian immediately got up and quickly left the subway.

The subway is underground and the space is narrow, so if zombies appear, there is nowhere to hide.

Fortunately, everything is normal at the moment.

After exiting the subway, Li Haotian hailed a taxi, withdrew all the money from his bank card, and then bought a handgun at a gun shop.

Only then did I arrive near the CDC and take out my phone to call my classmate.

"Hello, Smith, I am Li Haotian."

Li Haotian's English is quite good; he has no problems with conversations.

"Li, is there something you need?"

Inside the CDC, Smith, who was slacking off in his office playing on his computer, answered the phone with a puzzled look.

As soon as he graduated, his family arranged for him to work at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, but he was not interested in the job at all because it was too boring.

His dream was to be a rock singer, but unfortunately no one supported him.

Smith was somewhat surprised by Li Haotian's call.

He and Li Haotian weren't particularly close, and they hadn't been in much contact since graduation. But since they were classmates, he wanted to hear what the other person needed from him.

Anyway, idle is idle.

"Smith, I need your help with something. I've made a reservation at a restaurant, could you come over?"

Li Haotian inquired.

If you want to ask someone for help, you can't go empty-handed; having a meal together can help build a closer relationship.

Of course, it wouldn't matter if Smith disagreed at that point; he was confident his pistol could calm the other party down.

"okay, I'm about to leave work."

Smith accepted Li Haotian's invitation without hesitation.

Since they're treating, I might as well eat it.

As for helping, if it's a small matter, I can help out as a classmate; but if it's a big matter, I can just refuse, since he won't lose out anyway.

Soon, Smith arrived at the restaurant that Li Haotian had booked.

The restaurant was fairly upscale, which improved Smith's mood considerably.

"Li, it's been a long time."

Smith greeted Li Haotian warmly as soon as he saw him.

Li Haotian responded enthusiastically, but neither of them mentioned helping out.

After a few drinks and some chatting, Li Haotian quietly took out a wad of US dollars from his pocket and placed it in front of Smith.

These are all hundred-dollar bills, totaling ten thousand.

"Smith, I need your help with something."

Upon seeing the bright green banknotes, Smith's eyes lit up. He quickly pocketed the banknotes and then curiously looked at Li Haotian.

"Li, my good brother, if you need my help with anything, don't worry, as long as it's within my power, I will definitely not refuse."

After receiving the money, Smith became even more enthusiastic, and his words became extremely sycophantic.

Ten thousand US dollars is no small amount. Smith's salary is only a few thousand a month, and he basically spends all his money every month and can't save any money at all.

With this $10,000, he would have much more money to spare and could even buy gifts for his girlfriend.

Smith had already made up his mind that even if Li Haotian was a spy, he was willing to turn a blind eye.

"Ahem, it's nothing serious. I just wanted to ask you if there are any bacteria or viruses that can quickly cause serious illness in people, but are not fatal in a short period of time and can be cured."

Li Haotian asked in a low voice.

Smith was taken aback when he heard Li Haotian's question.

He was prepared for Li Haotian to make him steal state secrets, but he didn't expect it to be such a small matter.

As a staff member of the CDC, although he was not a professor or expert specializing in viruses, but just an assistant, he still had a clear understanding of these basic principles.

"Yes, many bacteria have this symptom."

"For example, Rocky Mountain fever, meningitis, scarlet fever..."

Smith named several types of germs while staring curiously at Li Haotian.

The other party's question was definitely not unfounded; you could easily find the answer by searching online. There's no need to pay him to ask, especially not so much.

These bacteria are all treatable, and the symptoms are not particularly severe, making them insignificant compared to level three or four viruses.

Even if Li Haotian is a terrorist, it wouldn't be of any use to him even if he got his hands on these bacteria; they simply couldn't spread them.

What is he planning to do?

“Smith, I need you to go to the CDC to get one of these bacteria for me, and then inject it into me to ensure that I get infected and develop symptoms within a day, and that I don’t die in a short time.”

"If things go smoothly, the remaining ten thousand dollars are yours too."

Li Haotian then took out a wad of US dollars from his pocket and placed it on the table.
