Chapter 17: Relief, Target: Atlanta

......

Andrea then opened the car door and got out.

"Hey...the show's about to start! I told you these two girls wouldn't be able to resist, look..."

Moore's attention was focused on the little blue car, and he saw Andrea as soon as she got out.

Just when Moore thought Andrea would come to beg him, he saw her turn around and wave to the person behind her.

Morton sensed something was wrong. He quickly leaned out of the car window to look back and, sure enough, saw a campervan approaching in the distance. Enraged, he immediately cursed aloud:

"Fuck, a wolf is coming to steal the meat..."

But no matter how unhappy Moore was.

The leisurely approaching RV finally stopped in front of Andrea.

Then an old man with a white beard leaned out of the driver's seat and asked Andrea:

"Madam, is there anything I can help you with?"

"Sir, our car has broken down. Could you give us a ride?"

Seeing that the driver was a kind old man, Andrea felt much more at ease and quickly made her request.

"Hey old man, hurry up and get out of here, don't meddle in other people's business!"

Seeing that the RV driver was just a middle-aged man, Moore spoke up to intimidate him.

Then he grabbed a gun, opened the door, and got out of the car, intending to force the other party to leave so that he wouldn't lose what he was about to get.

"you……"

The old man hesitated for a moment. He saw a thuggish-looking man get out of the pickup truck, looking menacing. He wondered to himself, "Could this be a trap?"

"...It's just me and my sister. We don't know the people in that car. Please, without your help, my sister and I don't know what to do."

Seeing this, Andrea was afraid that the old man would misunderstand, so she quickly explained, her tone pleading.

Beep beep...

Just then, a horn suddenly sounded from behind the RV. It turned out that there was a car following behind, completely blocked by the RV, which they hadn't noticed before.

A man leaned out of the car and called out to them:

"Dell, what's going on?"

"There's a slight issue; we might have to wait a bit."

The old man called Dale turned around and answered.

"Hey, old man, which gang are you from?"

Moore came over and asked in a gangster-like tone:

"If there's nothing else, hurry up and drive your old car away to save your life. Maybe you can live a few more days..."

Seeing this, Dale understood the situation somewhat. He looked at Andrea and asked:

Did he harass you?

"...No, no."

Andrea glanced at Moore first, then shook her head; she didn't want to cause trouble.

But anyone could see that she wasn't being sincere.

Dale understood. Although Moore looked fierce, he couldn't bear to leave the two innocent little girls alone.

"I'm just an ordinary person who chooses to do the right thing."

Dale made his position clear by saying this to Moore.

Then he turned to his companion in the passenger seat and said:

"Jim, take your tools and check out their car first."

"Thanks……"

Andrea was very grateful to hear this, as she was genuinely afraid that the old man would be scared away by Moore.

Soon after, Dale and Jim got out of the car, and Dale was carrying a shotgun.

“My name is Dale, and this is Jim.”

"Hello, thank you so much for your help. My name is Andrea, and this is my sister Amy."

Andrea quickly thanked her and introduced herself.

Amy got off the bus because she saw there were many people.

She followed closely behind her sister and greeted both of them.

"Let us take a look at your car first."

After they got to know each other, Dale said to Andrea.

"……it is good."

Andrea nodded quickly, and they led Dale and Jim over to check the condition of their car.

Moore was completely ignored, which made him a little angry. The duck that was about to be eaten had actually flown away.

But there was nothing he could do. Everyone had guns, and it seemed like there was little chance now, so he just watched from the sidelines.

……

"No, this car needs a complete overhaul. Under the current conditions, it's definitely not safe to drive."

After carefully inspecting the car's condition, Jim announced his conclusion, sentencing it to death.

"Then you'll have to take our car."

Dale said to Andrea:

Where are you going?

"We were planning to go back to Florida, but it looks like we won't be able to..."

Andrea could only say helplessly when she heard that the car really couldn't be driven anymore.

"How about we go to Atlanta first? There's a military-established security zone there. Or if you have somewhere else to go, we can give you a ride along the way."

"Is there a safe zone in Atlanta?"

Andrea was dumbfounded. They had run away from Atlanta so early that they had no idea about this, otherwise they wouldn't have had to run.

"Hey old man, what safe zone? You mean Atlanta?"

Hearing this, Moore, who was watching the play from the sidelines, immediately perked up and came over to ask.

He and his brother were running around outside and were equally unaware of this.

"Don't you listen to the national radio channel?"

Dale noticed their surprised expressions, as if they genuinely didn't know.

Andrea shook her head with a wry smile.

"Who has time to listen to that stuff? Tell me quickly what's going on with the safe zone..."

Moore had never paid attention to any national broadcasting channels, though he frequently watched 18+ channels. He continued to inquire about news from the safe zone.

"National Broadcasting says the military has established a security zone in Atlanta, with military protection, food, and lodging, and says it's the safest place."

Dell, we don't have much time to waste. We'd better get to Atlanta before sunset.

At this moment, a middle-aged man walked over and, upon hearing their question, interjected.

"This is Morales. We're going with his family to the Atlanta security zone to check on things."

Dale introduced the man who approached, and then spoke to Andrea:

"If you don't have any other options, perhaps you can come with us and wait until Atlanta to make further plans."

If Andrea insists on going to Florida, then there's nothing they can do to help her.

Andrea greeted Morales.

Dell's words appealed to her, and they didn't really have a better option.

Andrea looked at her sister Amy, who nodded in agreement.

"Thank you very much. Amy and I will go with you."

"OK, let's get going."

"Wait a moment."

Jim suddenly said something.

Everyone looked.

Jim looked at Andrea and said, "Miss, your car won't move. Could I have some useful parts? Consider it payment for the ride."

Andrea paused for a moment, glanced at the little blue car, and then smiled at Jim:

"Of course, this car is yours."

Jim smiled upon hearing this, and then he began collecting useful items from the car.

Moore returned to his truck and told his brother Daryl what he had heard from Dale.

"Are you planning to go to that safe zone with them?"

Delicious food, clean accommodations, military protection—do you believe such a place exists?

Daryl, on the other hand, thought that safe zones were like fairy tales and he didn't believe in them.

"Anyway, there's no harm in going to check it out. If it's really safe, we won't have to wander around outside anymore, living hand to mouth."

Moore was still very concerned about the safety zone.

Where there are people, there is a world of intrigue; and where there is a world of intrigue, there is a place for Mo Er to put his skills to use.

Daryl remained noncommittal. Compared to Moore's love of joining in the fun, he preferred to live like a lone wolf, free from constraints.

On the other side, Andrea and Amy quickly packed their things and followed Dale into their RV.

Soon, Dell's RV started moving, heading towards Atlanta along with Morales's car behind it.

The Moore and Daryl brothers followed far behind them in their pickup truck.
