When Nan bumped into him, she took the opportunity to whisper, "Uncle, help! Please come with us. My brother has been targeted by kidnappers."

Ting Nan paid the bill, grabbed the boy, and left. She had originally intended to stay with Officer Zhang, but he was alone. With Sanmazi, the shop owner, and an unknown number of others, if a fight broke out, he might not be able to help them; if Sanmazi didn't fight and just followed, were they supposed to stay with Officer Zhang indefinitely?

The enemy is in the shadows while I'm in the open. I can't always have someone tailing me; I'm afraid I might get retaliated against later. It's better to just slip away quietly, since she's wearing makeup anyway.

That's right, Sanmazi hadn't actually gone far. He was hiding in a corner, watching the whole time just like the owner of the general store. When he saw Tingnan leading the boy away, two other men immediately followed – there really were accomplices!

Ting Nan was certain she was an accomplice! She hadn't seen Officer Zhang give any explicit or implicit hints, and she and the little boy must have been under the surveillance of Sanmazi's gang, since the boy was their important cargo.

Ting Nan picked up the boy and ran away. Luckily, they were there to see Master Liu and not to carry any goods. Hopefully, Officer Zhang would react in time and catch up.

It would be foolish to place all your hopes on someone else. Ting Nan grabbed the boy and ran towards the police station; she knew the route well.

Ting Nan's training over the past two years hasn't been in vain. Those two men kept chasing her, but she still managed to leave them behind. But they didn't give up—they couldn't let go of the easy prey they had in their grasp.

"It's still quite a distance to the police station," Ting Nan said, panting as she lifted the boy up slightly. "Little fatty, you need to eat less."

“Okay, sister!” The boy actually agreed immediately and seriously.

At another corner, two people suddenly appeared. Ting Nan immediately turned the boy around and put him on her back in a defensive posture. "Hold me tight!" she said, ready to fight.

“Little girl, don’t be afraid, we are police officers!” one of the men immediately spoke up. Seeing her suspicion, he quickly and kindly explained, “We are plainclothes police officers, and we have been staking out that person for several days.”

"Really?" Ting Nan looked at their crooked collars. Gao Haoran and Liu Dayong's collars and buttons were always neatly arranged. And their posture, so roguish. Gao Haoran often said, "Stand like a pine tree, sit like a bell, walk like the wind," but they didn't have that kind of temperament.

"Yes, Officer Zhang, whom you just saw, led a team to arrest people. He sent us to meet you. Don't be afraid, our colleagues have already caught the people chasing you. Come on, come with us," the man explained.

"Phew...that's good!" When Ting Nan heard them mention Officer Zhang, she was half convinced. Perhaps they were too busy keeping watch and catching bad guys to tidy themselves up, so she prepared to follow them. After all, she had been carrying Ting Nan around for half a day to shake off the pursuers, and she was indeed quite tired.

But the boy on his back was trembling violently. Something was wrong. He might have seen these two people before.

"Thank you, officers! You're so amazing! I'm not scared anymore. Please wait a moment, my little brother is so scared he needs to pee. Can I take him over there to relieve himself?" Ting Nan said with admiration.

"Alright, go ahead!" The two men exchanged a glance and stepped aside.

Ting Nan smiled and walked past the two men to a secluded spot. "Hold on tight!" she told the boy as she took off running, sprinting a hundred meters until she was just a blur.

It took the two men a while to react: "You brat, you tricked me! Just you wait, I'll make you pay!" They immediately gave chase, but after a while, they saw Ting Nan carrying the child, and then they dared not pursue her any further...
