Chapter 58 The Cave-Dwelling Snake Man

Russell always had a strange feeling about traveling with the kobold warriors.

Before he time-traveled, he was a dog lover who liked to keep large dog breeds, with his favorite being Golden Retrievers.

Of course, these kobold warriors don't look like golden retrievers; they look more like Belgian Malinois.

"Lord Russell, look over there!" A kobold warrior pointed to a castle in the distance for Russell to see.

Russell looked into the distance, following its finger.

Sure enough, they saw a huge castle, far larger than the small castle the humans had built.

"Can we move any further?" Russell asked the kobold warrior.

“If we move any further, we’ll encounter serpent-men scouts!” the kobold warrior said.

Russell sneered and said, "I was just about to meet these snake people. Let's continue on our way."

The kobold warrior dared not object and could only follow.

All around was quiet, with only the sound of the wind rustling the leaves, as Russell and the kobold warriors moved forward silently.

“Lord Russell, look at the snake-man scouts!” a kobold warrior whispered in Russell’s ear.

Russell looked ahead and sure enough, he saw a snake-like monster standing on the hillside.

A snake-man was standing there, looking down the hillside, seemingly searching for something.

This snake-man was about two meters tall, entirely green, and covered in tiny scales. The kobold warriors said that these scales were just as defensive as armor. He had two thick arms, no legs, and a huge tail. He held a strangely shaped weapon that looked like it was made of metal.

Russell quietly raised the Fire Kirin, aimed at it for a moment, then put it down and said to the kobold warriors, "Wait here for me. I'll go and take care of this snake-man quietly." As he spoke, he drew the "Blood Drinker" from his waist.

"Lord Russell, you mustn't do that! The snake-men scouts are incredibly sharp. Don't be fooled by their current lack of awareness; they'll react quickly when you get close," the kobold warrior urged.

Russell, of course, didn't listen and began to move forward stealthily. Seeing Russell quietly creeping up, the kobold warrior was caught in a dilemma, wondering whether to follow.

Russell's movements, though light enough, still alerted the snake-man scouts.

The snake-man scout nimbly turned around and roared at Russell.

Russell was shocked and immediately roared, "Blessing of the Emperor!" He activated his life-saving skill at the first moment.

He proved to be very prescient.

The snake-man scout lunged at him, his strange weapon thrusting towards Russell's chest.

The snake-man's movements can be described as "swift as the wind."

Russell hurriedly took a few steps back, swinging the Blood Drinker in his hand to smash the strange weapon that was thrust at him.

Fortunately, he had already activated the Emperor's Blessing, otherwise this attack could have killed him.

The Blood Drinker smashed the snake-man's weapon, breaking the strange weapon in two.

A kobold warrior lunged from the side, his short spear aimed at the snake-man's eye.

The kobold warriors were extremely fast, and the attack was sudden, so the snake-man scouts could no longer attack Russell and instead had to parry the kobold warriors' short spears.

Russell, of course, would not let go of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and swung the Blood Drinker toward the Serpent Scout's chest.

Perhaps out of recklessness or inability to dodge, the Blood Drinker struck the snake-man scout in the chest. The sharp Blood Drinker tore through the scales, creating a huge gash that exposed the white snake flesh.

Russell was overjoyed. Just as he recalled the Blood Drinker and prepared to strike again, something strange happened. The huge gash began to heal rapidly, returning to its original state as if it had never existed.

This is the snake-man's terrifyingly rapid recovery ability.

However, the snake-man's joy was short-lived, for the Blood Drinker was laced with the venom of the Three-Faced Lion Scorpion.

"Roar!" The snake-man scout suddenly let out a painful roar and began to retreat rapidly. The wound on its chest opened up again, and the white snake flesh inside turned pitch black.

As the saying goes, strike while the iron is hot, and Russell was not about to let such a good opportunity pass. He rushed up and shoved the snake-man scout again. This time, the snake-man scout didn't even have time to react before being hit by the shovel again.

The snake-man scout's arm was severed more than halfway by the sharp Blood Drinker. The snake-man scout writhed violently a few times and then lay still.

System notification: Kill a snake monster and obtain one recovery fragment.

I obtained a total of ten recovery fragments. Shall I combine them to create the power of recovery?

Russell immediately replied: Synthesize.

System notification: The host has acquired a recovery ability, and the host's recovery ability is quietly increasing.

The dying roar of the snake-man scout attracted the attention of other snake-men.

A snake-man warrior swam over from a distance.

The snake-men warriors have strong and powerful tails, which makes them move very quickly.

The snake-man warrior charging at them looked much like the snake-man scout, except that he was much more robust and wielded a much larger weapon, which also made him much stronger.

The snake-man warrior charged straight at Russell, and a kobold warrior rushed forward to try and stop him.

With a loud thud, the dog-headed warrior was knocked away by the snake-man warrior.

In a contest of strength, the kobold warriors are far inferior.

Despite the formidable opponent, Russell showed no fear. Wielding the Bloodthirster, he roared, "For the Emperor!"

The kobold warriors were even faster than him; a dozen kobolds swarmed forward, trying to stop the snake-man warrior.

The snake-man warrior has two weapons: one is in its hand, and the other is its huge tail.

Although the snake-man warriors were fierce, the kobold warriors were not to be underestimated either; they fought just as hard.

The two sides quickly became entangled.

Russell also rushed up and joined the fight.

The kobold warriors were at a disadvantage because their short spears weren't sharp enough to pierce the snake-man warriors' scales, but unfortunately, Russell's Blood Drinker was sharp enough.

"Bang, bang, bang," several more kobold warriors were knocked away by a series of loud bangs.

The snake-man warriors' weapons also came crashing down on Russell.

The snake-man warriors were also puzzled as to why there was a human among the kobold warriors, and why this strange human was carrying a strange weapon.

Russell did not dodge the snake-man warrior's heavy blow. He charged forward and approached the snake-man warrior, smashing his entrenching tool down on the snake-man warrior's scales.

The snake-man warrior almost burst out laughing. How could a weak human wielding a weapon that didn't look very sharp possibly break through his defenses?
