The strongest astral army in Warhammer 40K
Chapter 55 "Yokozuna"
Elegant, beautiful, strong... no words of praise can adequately describe this "subhuman" standing before Russell.
"A lion-man!" This was the first time Russell had ever seen one.
Standing before him now was a "lion man".
It has the face of a lion, a majestic black mane, a towering body clad in ornate soft armor, and a pair of blue eyes that gleam with intelligence.
"Your Excellency, you may call me 'Yokozuna'."
Russell looked up at the "Lionman" who was nearly four meters tall and said, "Don't call me 'sir.' I'm just an ordinary member of the Astral Army. You can call me Russell."
"Lord Russell, I heard that you have agreed to our request for help!" said the lion-man Yokozuna respectfully.
As a true nobleman, it behaved with impeccable manners.
“Yes, we are willing to help you!” Russell said casually, as if it were not a big deal.
"Thank you so much! What kind of thanks would you like?"
Russell thought for a moment, and since he couldn't think of anything he wanted right now, he could only say: "We can talk about thanks later, let's get on with our business first!"
"Shall we set off now?" Yokozuna, of course, understood what Russell was referring to.
"Then when will we have to wait?" Russell asked Yokozuna in return.
Yokozuna pondered for a moment and said: "Three days from now. I still need to select a group of the most elite soldiers and the best equipment."
“Alright, come find me at the castle in three days!” Russell said, then turned and left, returning to the castle.
…………
"What did you see?" Kayans asked Russell curiously.
“A lion-man who is nearly 4 meters tall, and he says his name is Yokozuna.”
"Lion-man? People who look like lions?" Kayans had never seen a lion-man before and was very interested.
Russell nodded and said: Pretty much. It does look like a lion, but it is very beautiful and strong.
"If I had known, I would have gone with you. I could have seen what this lion-man actually looks like." Kayans said with great regret.
"Don't be so disappointed, they will come here in three days."
Time flies, and three days passed in the blink of an eye.
"Lord Russell, there are dozens of giants who look like lions looking for you outside!" a Star Guardian soldier said in a panic.
Upon hearing this, Kayans immediately perked up and grabbed Russell, running outside.
Yokozuna led fifty lion-man guards to appear outside the castle.
Both Russell and Kayans were stunned when they saw this small unit.
Standing at the very front of the group was "Yokozuna," whose appearance was no longer discernible except for a golden iron tower. His entire body was now covered in heavy plate armor, which gleamed dazzlingly in the sunlight.
He held a long-handled halberd in his right hand, and a golden war bow and a golden steel whip hung at his waist.
The fifty people behind him were dressed the same as him, like golden giants.
Russell quickly descended the castle and stood before the Yokozuna, asking: Are you ready?
Yokozuna removed his golden helmet, flicked his black mane, and laughed: "Everything is ready."
"Then let's set off!"
"Do you want to go too?" Kayans whispered to Russell.
Russell immediately refused him, saying: "No, you are the officer in charge of staying behind to restrain these Star Guardians. How can you go there?"
With no other option, Kayans stopped talking about the situation and began calling for support from the Thunder fighters.
After the Thunder fighter landed, Yokozuna was the first to go inside, followed by the Lionman Guards. Russell, fully armed, also followed.
This time, he brought the same old equipment: the Fire Kirin and the Blood Drinker, which looked far too shabby compared to the glittering lion-man guards.
“Once we enter the poisonous miasma, everyone must wear gas masks. These can save your lives,” Russell said as he helped the giant lion-men put on their masks.
Since the Yokozuna and the Lion-Man Guards were wearing gas masks, they couldn't wear helmets anymore, so they had to put their helmets inside the fighter jets.
The fighter jet cabin was extremely crowded. It could accommodate a hundred ordinary humans, but it couldn't even hold thirty lion-man guards. They had no choice but to squeeze in. Fortunately, the Yokozuna was there, otherwise these dissatisfied lion-man guards would have started fighting first.
If these giants were to fight, even the fighter jets would probably be lost.
After flying for about two hours, Russell spotted the poisonous tunnel below: "Everyone, get ready, we're about to land."
Upon hearing the news, the tormented lion-man guards cheered, while one muttered: "The space in here is too small, and it's too torturous."
Russell was speechless for a moment. Most fighter jets in the Empire could not carry people. Only large fighters like Thunder, Thunderhawk, and Falcon could carry some Space Marines, but at most they could only carry 10 to 20 Space Marines. These Lion-man Guards were almost the same size as the Space Marines. It was indeed not a pleasant feeling to have fifty people crammed together.
The Thunder fighter jet slowly landed in the poisonous miasma-filled land. After the hatch opened, the Lionman Guards eagerly stepped out.
"Be on guard!" Yokozuna growled.
Fifty lion-man guards quickly formed a circle to protect Russell.
After all the Lionman Guards have disembarked, the Thunder Fighter will temporarily leave this area.
At this point, Russell understood why these powerful lion-man guards dared not hunt the Three-Faced Lion Scorpion. It wasn't because the Three-Faced Lion Scorpion was so strong, but because the poisonous miasma was too potent. The creatures were too tall, and the miasma was most severe at their distance. Without gas masks, even the strongest creatures would lose their fighting ability after just one breath, let alone hunt the Three-Faced Lion Scorpion.
Now equipped with gas masks and oxygen tanks, these Lionman guards are all in high spirits.
Russell believed that these lion-man guards were perfectly capable of slaughtering the three-faced lion scorpions of the poisonous lands.
"Let's move forward. The noise from the fighter jets has probably already attracted the attention of the Three Lion Scorpions," Russell directed the group.
He wasn't as relaxed as the Lion-Man Guards; the Three-Faced Lion Scorpion could kill him in an instant.
The Lion-Man Guards' steel boots immediately left a large footprint in the mud, demonstrating their weight and the weight of their armor; Russell estimated they weighed several hundred pounds or more.
Among them, the Yokozuna is the strongest and has the most acute senses.
"Watch out, something's getting close!" he said in a low voice.
Sure enough, a great commotion came from afar: the roar of a monster, the sound of a tree being knocked down, and a huge figure bursting out of the poisonous miasma.
"Three-Faced Lion Scorpion, everyone be careful!" Russell roared and raised the Fire Qilin, firing several shots at the Three-Faced Lion Scorpion.
Unfortunately, the laser beams bounced off the carapace without causing any damage.
