Chapter 36 Killing Angel
With the help of the "Emperor's Blessing" attribute, Russell killed two orc boys in succession. When he was about to look for a third target, what happened in front of him made him want to give up the fight.
About a dozen orc boys pounced on him. He had already used all his skills to deal with just one orc boy, so how could he possibly be a match for a dozen orc boys at once?
"For the Emperor!" Russell roared. He would not give up the fight, no matter if it was a dozen orc lads or even the King of Slaying "Angron".
A massive bolt of lightning struck Russell, creating a huge explosion that sent all the orc boys flying into the air.
A silver-armored giant slowly landed in front of Russell, followed by four Space Marines.
This silver-armored giant was quite peculiar; he was wearing a cloak over his power armor, embroidered with silver knights, and the hood covered his helmet.
The weapon in his right hand was a double-headed eagle power scepter, and in his left hand was a power claw, on which electric light occasionally flowed.
"Everyone, follow me and get out of here!" the chapter priest said in his hoarse voice.
Three orc warriors charged forward, heading straight for the warband priest.
A Space Marine was about to fire when the Chapter Priest stopped him, saying: "Don't waste bullets on these Orcs."
As he spoke, he rushed out at an incredible speed. Before the orc warriors could react, the warband priest had already reached them.
The double-headed eagle's power scepter slammed down, smashing one orc's head open. With a swing of its power claws, the heads of two other orc warriors flew into the air.
Russell stood there dumbfounded. This was the first time he had ever witnessed a battle cleric in combat. He had thought that the Space Marines were strong enough, but they were clearly no match for this battle cleric.
"What are you still standing there for? Get out of here!" a Space Marine shouted.
Russell quickly called for the remaining Cadian warriors to follow, leaving less than thirty men remaining from the original 200-man force.
The battle priest led the way, and when facing hordes of orcs, he raised his hand and unleashed a bolt of lightning. Each lightning strike was accompanied by an explosion, blasting both orc warriors and orc lads into the air.
Immediately afterwards, the battle priest rushed in and began hacking and slashing.
The Space Marines behind him could only pick up the scraps.
Led by this super-strong man, they broke through the orcs' encirclement and joined up with more and more Kadian warriors.
"Roar!" A burly orc roared and blocked the warband priest.
Without wasting words, the warband priest rushed to the orc giant and smashed his power staff into its chest.
All of this happened so fast that the big orc couldn't react at all. Before he could even raise his weapon, he was struck hard in the chest.
The orc, nearly six meters tall and clad in heavy armor, leaped into the air and then crashed heavily to the ground, smashing a large crater into its chest armor and shattering its internal organs.
In the eyes of the Warband Priests, Orc Boys, Orc Warriors, and Orc Giants are all the same – slow-moving idiots.
Most of the Astragalus troops retreated to safe positions. The unmanned anti-aircraft guns became useless and stopped firing. The Orcish junk pods crashed into the outpost.
"Everyone has evacuated. The orcs have completely taken over this place," Commander Borg said into the communicator.
A voice came from the other end of the intercom: "Initiate the cleanup plan."
While in mid-air, Borg looked down and saw the military outpost submerged in a sea of green.
He smiled slightly and pressed the red button. In fact, the outpost was full of thermal bombs, Destroyer missiles, and an Annihilator nuclear bomb.
The "Obliterator" nuclear bomb has a nickname: "Angel of Death".
A massive pillar of fire shot into the sky, wiping out all living things within a radius of thousands of miles.
The number of orcs eliminated this time was astronomical. Of course, it wasn't just this one outpost that exploded; several others also exploded.
As the Black Hawk helicopter slowly landed, Russell emerged from it, and they proceeded to the second line of defense.
This is a massive military fortress, with a huge volcano on each side. The volcanoes are active and erupt year-round, with lava rivers flowing around the fortress.
Russell surveyed the surroundings and thought, "If the orcs choose to launch a full-scale attack, the losses will likely be devastating."
This military fortress houses not only hundreds of thousands of Cadian warriors, but also about a thousand Space Marines from the Silver Knights.
…………
“What should we do next?” Russell asked Borg.
“We don’t need to do anything until the orcs arrive,” Borg smiled.
Russell nodded and said nothing more.
"You performed very well in this battle," Commander Borg praised.
"I didn't complete the task you assigned me, so I can't say I did a good job."
Borg shook his head and said: "The mission itself is neither important nor unimportant, and whether it is completed or not is not the most important thing. It is just an order from the superior."
"No matter what, I failed."
Borg didn't dwell on the question and instead asked: "Are you interested in joining the Cardinal Legion?"
Russell was taken aback; he hadn't expected Commander Borg to suddenly ask that question.
“I am a commando member of the 357th Regiment of the Cardia Commando Regiment, reporting directly to my superior, Lawrence, so I’m afraid I can’t make the decision on this matter.”
Borg chuckled and said, "You don't need to worry about any of these things. Just tell me if you're willing to join, and I'll explain the situation to the Ministry of Military Affairs."
Russell hesitated. On the one hand, joining the Cadian Legion was indeed his long-cherished wish. When the opportunity was presented to him, he hesitated again. The main reason was that he still had feelings for the 357th Regiment. He hadn't properly said goodbye to his good brother "Kayans" and Captain "Laurence" before he entered the Cadian Legion in a daze.
"If you haven't made up your mind yet, you can wait."
"When the orcs will arrive is still unknown, so I'd like to take this time to see Commissar Kane." Russell hoped that Commissar Kane could give him some good advice.
Borg nodded and said: I will arrange for an armed helicopter to take you back.
"Thank you, Commander!"
Borg laughed and said: "No need to thank me, thank yourself for your performance."
Russell saluted and then left.
…………
How is the fighting at the front?
"The orcs have captured the outpost, and Commander Borg has activated an Annihilator nuclear bomb."
