The strongest astral army in Warhammer 40K
Chapter 28 One-on-One Fight Ends in Failure
The battlefield became increasingly chaotic. The Kadian warriors who came to provide support clashed head-on with the orcs. The two sides first exchanged firepower, and then engaged in close combat.
When it comes to firepower output, the Cadian warriors have a clear advantage, but when it comes to close combat, they are at a clear disadvantage. The two sides complement each other, making it a close match.
The loud noise quickly revealed the orc sniper's hiding place. Russell finally spotted the orc sniper and quietly climbed up, drawing his Bloodthirster.
"The fifteenth." The orc was coldly stating the number; the fifteenth meant that 15 Kadian warriors had been killed.
Suddenly, the orc became alert. It seemed to have heard a noise behind it. The orc turned around and saw a shrimp leap up and smash its entrenching tool at it.
"Roar!" The orc sniper roared and held its sniper rifle horizontally, trying to block the attack with the barrel.
The Bloodthirsty Blade slammed into the spear shaft. Although the Bloodthirsty Blade was now very sharp, it still couldn't cut through steel, so the heavy blow only severed half of the spear shaft.
The attack failed to kill the orc, and both of them were stunned for a moment.
Before Russell could draw his Bloodthirster and attack again, the orc forcefully pushed him away with both hands.
The orc sniper's strength was astonishing; a tremendous force sent Russell flying.
At the same time, the orc drew a dagger from his waist and stabbed at Russell.
Russell crashed heavily onto the rocks, the intense pain causing him to wince in pain.
He had just landed on the ground when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a huge black shadow rushing towards him, holding a gleaming dagger in its hand.
Here we must mention that Russell's physical condition is now far superior to that of ordinary Astrakrians. His own defense is equivalent to a light bulletproof vest plus a set of Cadian Legion tactical armor. It was only under the protection of these two sets of armor that he was not injured. If it were an ordinary Astrakrian, he would probably be coughing up blood.
Russell quickly rolled to the side, his sharp dagger piercing the soil.
The enraged orc drew his dagger and kept stabbing at Russell, who had nowhere to hide but to roll around.
He quickly rolled to the edge of the boulder, then accidentally tumbled off and crashed heavily onto another rock.
The massive impact caused him to let out a muffled groan.
"Roar!" The orc sniper roared and jumped down, his sharp dagger once again stabbing at Russell.
Russell hurriedly swung his entrenching tool to try and block the orc's dagger, but his strength was far too weak compared to the orc's, and he was powerless to resist. The dagger pierced Russell's shoulder.
With a clang, the dagger pierced deep into the stone. It was the shoulder armor of the tactical armor that saved Russell's life. Due to the curved design of the shoulder armor, the dagger, unable to pierce it, slid to the side.
At this point, Russell had two choices: to escape quickly or to raise the fire unicorn in his left hand and smash it down on the orc.
Either of these two choices would lead to his certain death.
The orcs weren't just for show; escaping was impossible. An orc could easily lift him up and smash him to death with just one hand. The fire qilin's impact on the orcs was minimal, as the orcs' exaggerated muscles could block most of the damage.
Left with no other choice, Russell had to activate his five-second "True Man" ability, "The Emperor's Blessing".
With the Emperor's Blessing activated, Russell's physical abilities increased dramatically. He quickly broke free from the orc's control, raised the Fire Kirin in his left hand, and fired several shots at the orc.
Similarly, the orc raised his dagger and stabbed at Russell's chest. At this moment, the two were competing in speed. When the dagger was still three inches away from Russell's chest, the Fire Kirin's laser bullet had already hit the orc.
"Roar!" The orc roared in pain as several holes appeared in its body. The fire qilin's power was immense at close range, piercing through the orc's formidable body.
After the orc roared in pain, he unconsciously took two steps back. Russell seized the opportunity, raised his entrenching tool, and swung it down at the orc's chest. He also wanted to chop off the enemy's head, but the orc was simply too tall.
The sharp-edged Blood Drinker plunged deep into the orc's chest.
Having been struck again, the orc, still conscious, raised his massive fist and punched Russell.
With no way to avoid it, Russell could only take the punch to the face. Russell felt as if he had hit a wall, his blood surged, and he fell heavily to the ground.
The orc sniper is dead, Russell is unconscious, and the orc's last punch didn't actually have much power; it was just a barely raised fist that pushed forward.
Russell couldn't take it anymore; if it were a full-force attack from an orc, his head would probably explode.
"Captain Russell, what's the situation on the battlefield? Please report back."
After a moment, Russell finally woke up. He wiped the blood off his face and replied: "Commander Borg, the situation on the battlefield is very chaotic. We have entered into a chaotic battle with the orcs."
How are you now?
"I got punched by an orc sniper and I'm recovering now."
"The soldiers need your command, you must pull yourself together."
"Understood, Commander."
Russell got up from the ground. In the distance, sniper rifles were still firing. At this moment, he no longer wanted or dared to challenge the orcs to a duel. He had underestimated the orcs. The duel with the orcs finally made him realize their strength and terror.
…………
With a roar, an orc boy charged into the ranks of the Kadian warriors.
Three Kadian warriors were knocked to the ground by it.
The orc boy not only knocked down three people, but also raised his battle axe and slashed at a Kadian warrior.
"Watch out!" his comrade growled, warning him.
The Kadian warrior hurriedly dodged, and the orc boy's battle axe missed its mark.
The Kadian warriors wouldn't give him another chance; five Kadian warriors drew their entrenching tools and charged forward.
No brutal melee ensued; instead, a laser beam pierced the orc boy's head.
Russell, his face covered in blood, walked over and said: "Don't fight the orcs hand-to-hand. Use guns to finish the battle."
That's how it should be. Beastmen are physically strong and muscular, making them more suitable for melee combat, while humans are different. They are physically weak, but they have better coordination, are more accurate shooters, and have better weapons. This is a truth that Russell only understood after he suffered a setback.
Soon, Russell was surrounded by dozens of men. They proceeded cautiously, firing at any orcs they saw, and throwing grenades at any orcs that dared to get close.
In fact, this steady and methodical approach to killing enemies was quite efficient. More and more orcs died under their laser guns, and their ranks grew larger and larger.
