Chapter 26 Traces of the Orcs

Although they were interrupted, neither of them got angry.

Commissar Kane chuckled: "If you insist, you can lead a squad of veterans to help the Cadian Legion."

Borg nodded and said, "Our Cardian Legion needs more outstanding assault team members to help us, but the battles on the front lines are extremely dangerous and death can happen at any time. Captain Russell, you should think it over carefully."

"That's not something I need to think about. I'm a soldier, and fighting is my duty."

…………

Russell did not wait long before a new combat mission was issued.

The story begins a few days ago when the Imperial Navy sent a report stating that several small Orc transport aircraft had broken through the orbital blockade and entered planet 773, landing in what appeared to be a mountainous area.

Van Grey knew this was an advance team of orcs. Regardless of what mission the team had come here with, Van Grey would not allow the orcs to land on this planet. He immediately decided to have the Cadian Legion send warriors to search for and eliminate the advance team.

As the commander of this mission, Borg naturally thought of Russell. He not only invited Russell but also sent an armed helicopter to pick up Russell and 50 commandos.

The two met at a military outpost on the front lines.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Russell brothers,” Borg said with a smile.

"Commander, the Cadia commandos are reporting for your instructions," Russell said, saluting.

Borg nodded and said: "Our mission this time is simple: to search for orcs in a mountain forest and kill them. However, orcs are very dangerous, and it is not an easy task to find and kill them."

"Commander, the assault team guarantees to complete the mission."

Borg continued: "For this mission, the Kadian Legion has sent two thousand warriors, plus you, making a total of 2050. We don't know how many orcs there are right now, but I must remind you that if you discover any orcs, you must tell me immediately. You must not act rashly."

"Yes, Commander."

"In order to ensure the successful completion of this mission, I have requested fifty-one sets of full equipment from the general, including tactical armor, laser guns, entrenching tools, etc. You can arrange for someone to take them away and have the assault team members put on them."

"Yes, Commander."

The equipment of the Cadia Legion is far superior to that of the Cadia Commando.

Kadian's tactical armor is a full-body tactical armor, including boots, leg armor, upper body armor, and a closed helmet, made of lightweight ceramic steel.

Laser guns are even larger weapons with a longer range, greater power, and a larger magazine capacity.

…………

"Captain, this armor is great!" one of the assault team members exclaimed excitedly.

As Russell put on his armor, he said, "Everyone, get dressed quickly. We need to move out immediately."

Once everyone was dressed in armor and picked up their new weapons, they were no different from the real Qardian Legion.

"Captain Russell, why aren't you using our laser guns?" Borg asked curiously.

Russell chuckled and said, "I'm used to my own laser gun and don't want to switch."

Borg advised: "Captain Russell, if you spot the orcs, do not act rashly. You must call for support and gain an absolute advantage before you can attack."

This was the second time Borg had reminded Russell.

"Yes, sir. I will not act rashly."

The armed helicopter flew through the dense canopy and landed in the forest. Russell and his commandos quickly disembarked.

"Captain Russell, Captain Russell, have you reached the designated location?"

"Commander Borg, we have reached the designated position."

"Search south. You are now flanked by squads of the Kadian Legion on your left and right."

"Copy that, sir."

Russell glanced at the commandos behind him and said, "Everyone be careful, we're searching to the south."

This primeval forest has been sparsely populated for a long time, so the roads are very difficult to walk on, and the ground is covered with dead branches and leaves.

After searching for some time, Russell and his team found nothing.

Just then, a voice came through the intercom.

“Commander Borg, I’ve spotted the orcs. They’re hiding in a cave.” A Kadian warrior said into the communicator.

"Everyone move north. Captain Russell, you're closest, head north to support them as fast as you can."

"Roger, Commander Borg."

Russell led his men and quickly moved north.

Russell quickly found them; fifty Cadian warriors were hiding in the bushes.

"Look, the orcs are right there!" the squad leader said, pointing to a cave in the distance.

Russell picked up the telescope and looked for a while; sure enough, he saw the orcs.

There were at least six orcs in front of the cave. These six orcs were all powerful orc warriors, each three meters tall. They were clad in rough-looking, very heavy plate armor, and had various weapons at their waists, such as large cleavers, large axes, chainsaw swords, etc. In addition to melee weapons, each orc warrior also carried a heavy spear.

After waiting a while, several more groups of Kadian warriors arrived.

"Commander Borg, I now have three hundred soldiers here. Can we launch an attack?" Russell said into the communicator.

"Don't rush, Captain Russell. We don't know the exact number of orcs right now. If we attack rashly, it might backfire. Let's wait until your numbers reach a thousand before we attack."

"Copy that, sir."

Russell began to wait patiently, and after a while, more and more Cadian warriors arrived.

"Commander Borg, our numbers have reached 1000. Please give further instructions."

"Captain Russell, prepare to attack. Remember not to let a single orc escape," Borg commanded over the communicator.

Russell glanced back at everyone and said, "I'll lead the frontal attack to draw the orcs' attention. You two squads will flank from the left and right and launch a surprise attack from behind." After the arrangements were made, Russell immediately began to move towards the cave.

The orcs quickly entered firing range.

"Everyone, charge!" Russell was the first to jump out, raising his Fire Kirin and firing a series of laser bullets at the six orc warriors at the cave entrance.

The orcs were taken aback. Their heavy plate armor saved them. The orc warriors quickly lay down and roared: "Shrimp are attacking us! Everyone, come out and fight!"

The orcs were overjoyed at the mention of war. They became excited at the thought of a battle and roared as they charged out of their caves.

The dozen or so shield-wielding orc warriors at the forefront not only blocked the incoming laser bullets but also seized the opportunity to counterattack the Cadian team.

Most of the orcs' weapons are crudely made, weak, and inaccurate, but they are incredibly noisy.
