Chapter 157 "The Insect Martial Saint"
The Thunderhawk gunship slowly landed in the Iron Heart Fortress.
Titus and two Ultramarines emerged from inside and entered the command hub.
At this moment, there are three people in the command hub: Mark, the leader of the Vengeance War Gods Chapter; a battle priest; and an apothecary.
What are the battle priests talking about with Mark?
The two stopped talking when Titus walked in.
Mark laughed and said, "Brother Titus, what brings you here?"
The two were old acquaintances. Titus smiled and said, "Company Commander Sicarius sent me here to help you defend this place."
"That's great! With you guys joining us, our chances of winning are even higher." Mark was very happy.
Titus walked up to the oracles and looked at the green screen.
This oracle instrument displays almost the entire situation on the Galanz planet.
Red dots were flashing on it.
"There are so many places in rebellion?" Titus was incredulous.
Mark gave a wry smile and said, "I didn't expect so many industrial cities to suddenly rebel. Luckily, you brought the Cardians with you."
"Shouldn't we do something?" Titus felt that relying solely on the Cardians was not enough to quell the rebellion.
Mark shook his head and said: "What we need to do now is to take our attention off the ground. Look over there."
With the guidance, Titus saw several tiny red dots moving toward him.
"A fleet?" Titus wasn't sure what these were.
“That’s right, the Tyranid fleet has started moving this way!” Mark said.
Titus fell silent.
"If we can defeat these Terran fleets, the ground rebellion won't be a major problem. Unfortunately, winning this space war is no easy task!"
"Lord Felix, what are his orders to you?"
"Lord Felix, let me abandon the space orbit and allow the will of the Hive to descend upon the Galanz world!"
"And what are your thoughts?"
"I still think we should put up a fight; we can't just hand over the orbit to the Terran Zerg like that."
“I think we should strictly follow Lord Yingjie’s orders. He must have his reasons for making these arrangements,” Titus said.
The code of conduct for Ultramarines is complete obedience to orders.
Commander Mark hesitated, and then the battle priest spoke.
“Titus brothers, I also think we shouldn’t just give up on orbital defense like this. This time, our Vengeance War God Chapter mobilized almost the entire chapter, with seven companies totaling 7000 combat brothers.”
"The reason?" Titus felt that there must be a sufficient reason if this were to be done.
“Based on my understanding of the Tyranids, once they land on the ground, they will frantically absorb the biomass of this world. At that time, they will become stronger and more difficult to deal with,” the battle priest said.
"Lord Yingjie must have considered this issue as well."
“I have complete faith in Lord Hero’s judgment, but our Vengeance War God Chapter has decided to give it a try. If we fail in the space battle, we will return to the ground for defense,” the chapter’s chaplain said stubbornly.
Commander Mark said: Brother Titus, I sometimes think so too!
Titus paused for a moment and said: Since you two are so insistent, what can I say?
Commander Mark smiled and said, "Brother Titanus, would you like to join us?"
Titus nodded and said: "I would be delighted."
…………
The battle in the square continued, but the number of insectoids rushing out suddenly decreased significantly.
"Brothers, let these monsters taste the power of thermal bombs!" Kayans shouted.
Then they threw out a molten metal bomb.
With a deafening roar, a ball of flame rose into the sky above the plaza, burning countless insectoids to death, and filling the air with a strange, unpleasant aroma.
“I think an even more powerful monster is about to break out from inside?” Russell guessed.
“That’s perfect, we can slay new monsters again. We’re getting tired of killing these ordinary bugs.” Kayans brandished his chainsaw sword with one hand.
Russell was right; an even more powerful monster was about to burst out from within.
These endless streams of monsters are called "Insect Warriors".
There is a monster even more powerful than them called the "Insect Martial Saint!"
These "insect warriors" are more powerful than the cunning chickens in terms of combat strength, but their numbers are extremely small.
The "Insect Martial Saint" was the first human to mutate. They were originally just ordinary people, but after being chosen by "humans," they were fed some special insect eggs.
These insect eggs will devour their host and then evolve into insect warriors. Once these insect warriors appear in the dark and sunless underground world, they will continuously perform acts of chivalry to gain more and more followers.
Soon, an even larger insect-man burst out from inside.
This insect-man is different from others in appearance. It is about a head taller than ordinary insect-men. It wears a tattered robe and a ragged cloak. Its hands have not turned into bone knives. Instead, they are claws covered with fine scales. Each hand holds a sharp "katana".
The Insect Warrior, spinning wildly, burst forth with two "swords," which blocked all the laser bullets.
"They're here!" Russell rushed forward.
Just as Russell charged forward, the Insect Warrior had already plunged into the ranks of the Cadian warriors.
The Kadian warriors swiftly drew their melee weapons to engage the insect warriors.
The Insect Warrior was seen spinning wildly among the Cadian warriors, its two katanas flashing with cold light.
In the flash of cold light, the arms of the Kadian warriors were severed in two.
"Your opponent is me, monster!" Russell roared as he charged forward, blocking the path of the Insect Warrior.
After severing the arms of more than a dozen Cadian warriors, the Insect Warrior Saint arrived before Russell.
With a gentle flick of the blade, the blood on it disappeared completely.
“A strong human?” the Insect Warrior said.
He had never seen a human as strong as Russell.
Russell sneered. He wasn't going to waste words with this insect. He leaped forward and rushed in front of the Insect Martial Saint, and the Blood Drinker slashed at him.
Russell's speed greatly surprised the Insect Warrior. It was rare for such a strong human to have such swift skills.
The Insect Warrior took a half step back and then swung his sword horizontally.
He took half a step back, and the enemy's weapon could no longer hit him. He then swung his sword to slash at the enemy's wrist, turning defense into offense.
Russell was shocked and quickly withdrew his strength, retracting the Blood Drinker. The sharp katana grazed Russell's fingers, and he could feel the cold blade.
