The strongest astral army in Warhammer 40K
Chapter 115 Strange Man
"It's safe. Those barbarians didn't dare to come any closer."
“As long as I’m safe!”
Everyone respects the strong, and since the last battle, no one dares to underestimate Russell.
"Thanks to you this time!" the red-bearded giant "Rock" said with a loud laugh.
Russell smiled faintly and said: This time, it's thanks to everyone, not just me alone.
After the divination was over, Renault came out of the tent. He didn't look too good. Isabella followed silently behind him.
Russell stroked his chin, guessing that the divination result must not be very good, otherwise why were the two of them so unhappy?
Renault smiled slightly when he saw Russell and said, "Brother Russell, you're awake?"
Russell smiled and said, "Thank you!"
Renault waved his hand repeatedly and said: I should thank you. Without your help, we wouldn't have won so quickly.
"What was the result of the divination?" Renault spread his hands and said: "Not good."
"The future is unpredictable, I can't see it clearly anymore?" Isabella said, biting her lip.
"Were you able to see clearly before?"
“I could see some key points, but unfortunately I couldn’t see even those this time. Perhaps it’s because of your appearance. My divination abilities have greatly diminished since you came aboard the ship,” Isabella had no choice but to tell the truth.
This made Russell think of some bad things; he felt that he might only bring bad luck to others.
“Perhaps I should leave the team!” Russell said in a low voice.
“That’s not what I meant,” Isabella quickly said.
“Brother Russell, please don’t say such things. Regardless of who entrusted you to us, you have saved everyone this time,” Renault said urgently.
“Yes, Brother Russell, although divination has saved us countless times, it is ultimately an ethereal thing and not very trustworthy. On the contrary, having a powerful fighter like you by our side can truly put our minds at ease,” Shining said.
"We all saw your battle. You are a true warrior. A warrior deserves respect. It is my honor to die alongside a warrior. As for the future, let fate decide," the red-bearded giant shouted.
The people's attempts to persuade him to stay were not enough to change Russell's mind. He had already made up his mind to leave this place and wander alone in this desert world.
Russell smiled casually and said, "Don't overthink it, everyone. Go and do your own thing!"
After everyone dispersed, Russell returned to his lodgings, a larger tent.
After returning to the tent, he sat cross-legged on the animal skin and quietly stroked the laser gun "Fire Kirin" in his hand.
At that moment, he suddenly felt that life had lost its meaning. What should he do? Become a desert bandit?
He really missed his days as a member of the Star Guardians. Although that life was monotonous and filled with battles every day, at least it had meaning. But now...?
Unbeknownst to Russell, Isabella appeared outside the tent at some point, looking at the melancholy burly man with a complicated expression.
“Um… I really didn’t mean it today?” Isabella said.
Russell didn't turn to look at her, but sighed and said, "What did you do wrong? You just told the truth!"
“But I don’t want you to leave either!” Isabella said nervously.
"How many formidable enemies have you faced?" Russell countered Isabella's question.
Isabella thought for a moment and said: Pirates, rebels.
"There are too many powerful enemies in the galaxy, many of whom are invincible. When we encounter them, our only fate is death. Therefore, divination ability is far more important than me," Russell said calmly.
He wasn't trying to explain or persuade Isabella, because Russell knew that Isabella, as a Star Speaker, knew more about these things than he did.
Isabella remained silent and said: "Your destiny is intertwined with too many threads, filled with all sorts of unknowns, and these unknowns are affecting the people and things around you!"
"So my leaving is the wisest choice. Only in this way can you regain your divination ability and help the team turn bad luck into good."
Isabella neither nodded nor shook her head; she was finding it extremely difficult to make a decision.
Russell stood up, turned around, glanced at Isabella, and smiled: "That big shot once told me that one day you will become indifferent and not be swayed by emotions."
Isabella's eyes welled up with tears as she asked, "Will we ever see each other again?"
You said that my destiny is intertwined with many threads. If our destinies are still entangled, then we will meet again. If not, then it's better not to meet again!
After saying this, Russell picked up the Fire Kirin, Power Axe, Bomb Pistol, and Blood Drinker, walked out of the tent, and quickly disappeared into the oasis.
Isabella didn't dare turn around to look at Russell until he was far away, but he had already disappeared and might never appear again.
…………
Fine sand blown by the wind.
It's so bright it's blinding.
In the endless sea of sand, a man walked silently forward. Every step he took was extremely difficult, perhaps because of his heavy weight. Each time, his big feet sank deep into the yellow sand.
He was so tired and thirsty that he couldn't remember how many days he hadn't drunk water or eaten. If it weren't for his strong physique, he probably would have fainted from dehydration long ago.
Russell looked up at the endless yellow sand before him, smiled bitterly, and muttered to himself: Perhaps this is my fate. He didn't want to go any further; dying here might not be a bad choice.
So he stopped walking and chose to sit on the yellow sand. After sitting for a while, he lay down and let the wind and sand bury him.
Before he knew it, Russell had fallen asleep. As he drifted off, he told himself that it was best not to wake up again and that he should go back to guarding the concrete, for that was the life that truly belonged to him.
"A dream, just another dream," Russell cursed.
The reason I recognized myself as being in a dream world at a glance was because everything in front of me felt so unreal.
This is a strange space where everything is glittering gold—tables, chairs, books, bookshelves, and almost everything in sight is gold.
A giant man is busy doing something in front of a huge desk.
He wore a spotless white robe, his sharply defined face was full of worry, his two sword-like eyebrows were furrowed together, and a pile of unknown blueprints lay in front of him.
"What are you busy with?" Russell asked curiously.
The man looked up at Russell and shook his head, saying, "Don't bother me. Can't you see I'm busy?"
Russell was displeased upon hearing this and said, "Then who sent me here? Was it you? If it was you, why won't you let me speak?"
