Her voice was excited, and her eyes were truly filled with gratitude.

But Yan Yun didn't really want to help her; she just felt that Zheng Jihua's increasingly successful life deserved some trouble.

Yan Yun didn't say much to her. The other party agreed to leave, and all she had to do was take her out.

The maidservant next to them came closer, wanting to hear what they were saying, but the two of them tacitly kept quiet.

As Yan Yun was leaving, he bumped into Zheng Jihua.

Zheng Jihua's gaze first fell into the room before landing on Yan Yun. Although Yan Yun was important, now that the person she had lost and found was in her own residence, her thoughts naturally turned to her.

"Ning'er."

Zheng Jihua withdrew his gaze and carefully observed Yan Yun's expression. Seeing that her expression was normal, he wondered what she was thinking. The people in the manor were not good at keeping secrets, and she must know that he was going to get married.

Yan Yun did not respond to his calling her name, and she turned away to leave.

Zheng Jihua wasn't angry about her coldness; after all, Ning'er was just like that, and he didn't think there was anything wrong with it.

"Ning'er, are you feeling better? Come to the courtyard."

Yan Yun's original intention was not to respond to him, but as soon as she thought about it, she realized that if she didn't get closer to him, the servants in the mansion would be watching her like prisoners in the imperial jail.

Knowing what he wanted to do and what he needed to do, Yan Yun became more compliant with Zheng Jihua's attitude.

She replied softly, "I just heard about it from the people in the manor, so I came to take a look."

When Zheng Jihua heard Yan Yun's response, he couldn't hide his joy even more. He was already happy because of his good news, and now he was even happier.

He walked towards Yan Yun.

He stood beside Yan Yun and said to her, "You were injured, and your father has been worried about you. When I heard from the servants that you came to this courtyard, I was worried that you would be unhappy because of my affairs. I have told you before that you are my precious daughter and everything is yours."

His tone implied that he would not waver in his affection for Yan Yun because of other women.

Yan Yun only listened to it.

Her perfunctory nod was, in Zheng Jihua's eyes, an affirmation of himself.

Zheng Jihua put his hand on Yan Yun's shoulder, "Ning'er, your father has hired the best doctor, so you won't have any scars."

Yan Yun felt as if ants were crawling all over her body. When Zheng Jihua touched her, she moved her shoulder away and walked away, avoiding him.

Zheng Jihua instructed the maid beside her, "Hurry up and follow the young lady."

Zheng Jihua watched Yan Yun's departing figure, then turned back to look at the house.

He beckoned to a servant beside him: "Go and ask what happened?"

When the servant returned and reported back, he told the whole story of what happened after Yan Yun went inside.

Hearing that Yan Yun and she hadn't argued or had any unpleasantness, she felt relieved.

"That's good."

In Zheng Jihua's opinion, Xiang'er is a good woman and she and Ning'er will definitely get along.

Zheng Jihua did not go in to see the people inside. After Yan Yun left, he also left the courtyard.

Just after Zheng Jihua left, the old nanny came to the courtyard with an unfamiliar maid.

She looked at the courtyard not far away, and at the maid in front of her.

"Have you remembered what I told you?"

The girl hesitated.

The old woman noticed her hesitation and emphasized her words.

"Think about your family."

The little girl nodded resignedly.

"understood."

The old woman patted her on the shoulder and watched her enter the courtyard before leaving with a sense of relief.

The girl entered the courtyard without anyone stopping her; she was someone the people inside had specifically requested.

She stepped into the house.

"Madam, I'm back."

Upon hearing this, the person on the bed immediately lifted the curtain in front of her. She looked at the person in front of her, her tone urgent yet concerned: "Where have you been?"

The maid lowered her head, not daring to look at the person in front of her. "The people in the manor sent me over."

Did they give you any trouble?

The girl shook her head, then, worried that she couldn't see, said, "No."

Hearing that she hadn't, she felt relieved.

But I can't go anywhere right now, so I'll just stay by your side and protect you.

The girl didn't respond again, but when she looked up at the person in front of her, her eyes were red again.

She couldn't hold back.

"I have a lot to say to you."

"Come closer."

When the girl got closer, she couldn't hold back her tears. She looked at the person in front of her and cried with grievance, sobbing uncontrollably.

The woman raised her hand to wipe away the tears on her face.

"No, don't cry."

How could she not cry?

She couldn't hold back any longer and hugged the person in front of her tightly, blurting out all the secrets she could no longer hide: "Brother, brother was killed by Zheng Jihua."

The woman looked up in surprise. "What did you say?"

The girl burst into tears and didn't repeat what she had said.

The maidservant, seeing the two embracing, worried that something might happen and immediately stepped forward to separate them.

"How can this girl be so ill-mannered?"

The crying girl was pulled away.

The midwife said from the side, "Crying and wailing, she has no good fortune at all."

The girl raised her head defiantly, "That's also because..."

The words she was about to say were interrupted by a rebuke: "Yu'er, there's no need to say anything more to them."

The midwife meant well; it's not good for a newborn to cry all the time. She spoke up out of kindness, but when she heard the lady defending the girl, she felt she shouldn't have said anything.

The girl named Yu'er's tears flowed like water.

It's best to just pretend you didn't see it.

"I will serve you, madam."

"You guys get out."

She immediately ordered everyone inside to leave.

But the basins inside the house remained completely still, showing no sign of moving.

"Madam, the master instructed us to guard you."

So even if she chased them away, they wouldn't dare to leave without Zheng Jihua personally telling them to.

These people don't listen.

Xiang'er was also anxious, so she didn't care whether these people were still around or not. She stepped forward and pulled Yu'er back, saying, "What did you just say? Say it again."

Xiang'er raised her hand to wipe away her tears, no longer caring about anything else.

"It was Zheng Jihua who killed my brother."

Thinking back to that night when the blade suddenly appeared, leaving only himself behind.

When Zheng Jihua found him, there was no surprise on his face, but rather a clear look of delight.

She suddenly covered her mouth, suppressing the nausea that threatened to vomit.

"Where did you know that?"

She just wanted to know where they got this information from.

Yu'er said firmly, "It was him, it was him who killed my brother."

After she finished speaking, she broke down in tears again.

Everyone around looked over; all eyes were on them.
