Chapter 80 The Same Fitter
"Hmph, crows hold grudges very much. Kaito, you brat, figure it out yourself!"
The door to a new world has been opened. Now, all he has to do is wait for Kaito Kuroba to catch Akako Koizumi, and he can start studying magic without lifting a finger!
As consciousness returned to his body, Kuromon Haruya, his eyes half-closed in a daze, struggled to sit up from the hospital bed while a subordinate reading documents by the window quipped:
"Are you sifting through the task list for Bourbon again? If he's so hard to get close to, why don't you try a honey trap? It might work wonders..."
Hearing the call from behind, the black-clad member slowly turned around, his long, silvery-white hair gleaming in the backlight.
Gin reached into his pocket with his left hand, which was holding a ballpoint pen, and used his ring and little fingers to pull out a cigarette case labeled "JILOISES." He flicked out a cigarette and brought it to his lips. His eyes, which were usually filled with murderous intent, were now filled with inexplicable thoughts.
Oh no, I've mistaken you for someone else.
Realizing what was happening, Kuromon Haruya quickly resumed his acting, pretending not to notice and continuing to tease, "Mr. Aso, are you listening?"
Gin glanced at it but didn't make a move. Instead, while reviewing the report, he asked, "Butbel, are you sober now?"
"It's you, Gin. Sorry, I mistook you for someone else." Slightly embarrassed, he dropped his nonchalant demeanor and sat up, looking back calmly and seriously. "Is there any new mission to assign?"
The ten-page blood test report listed all the components that should not exist in human bodily fluids in any given case, with "abnormal" markings printed in red ink scattered throughout, densely packed like drops of blood.
Gin had always kept the correlation with these indicators in mind, so even without experience in biological research, he could easily extract the report's conclusions—the values matched, the content of GCEI-related factors was extremely high, and the test subject was a suitable match for the Elixir of Immortality.
After lighting the lighter, Gin placed the report in the sink and burned it page by page on the spot.
"Introduce yourself, using a code name instead of your real name."
“Okay.” The beer, receiving special treatment, frowned in confusion but couldn’t refuse. “My name is,”
Butbel, those four simple words stuck in his throat like a river whose source had been blocked. After a few forced attempts, Heimon Haruya was forced to stop due to intense dizziness and gasped for breath, leaning against the bed railing.
"...What did you do to me? Is this some kind of experiment that the organization needs to test on humans?"
Gin did not respond, but instead removed the glove from his right hand and placed his palm on the forehead of Yoruichi Kuromon.
A chill ran through him on a psychological level, a chill that seemed to travel through his body, a sign of the malice lurking beneath his skin. Kuromon Haruya's pupils constricted slightly as he allowed his body to enter a defensive state due to excitement.
'They've even uncovered the method of absorption by their own kind; the amount of information is far greater than I anticipated. Ah, Gin, will you surpass me on this path?'
Information regarding the Elixir of Immortality
After a full half-minute standoff, Gin withdrew his right hand, ending the tense meeting.
"This is an innate recognition you possess, but it has only become apparent in recent years."
Gin tossed the black briefcase from the corner toward Kurokawa Haruya, slowly put on his gloves, and gave the order with a cold smile: "Change into your action uniform and come with me. From now on, you are a member of the organization's leadership."
Kuromon Haruya opened the box and found a black suit neatly stacked inside, seemingly no different from the uniforms the organization usually wore.
But this is merely a facade. If the fabric were extracted and analyzed in detail, the advanced technology contained within would cause a huge stir in the scientific community, though only within the so-called "scientific community" on the surface.
As far as he knows,
He packed his change of clothes and casually draped his trench coat over his hospital gown: "I'm in the limelight right now, and leaving abruptly might arouse suspicion."
"The hospital has been taken care of." Gin said, a cigarette dangling from his lips. Although his attitude hadn't changed drastically, he no longer treated people like inanimate objects. "Your wound will be fully healed in a few days, right? Making excuses to delay missions is a bad habit of the intelligence department."
Heimen Yaoye lowered his top hat to cover his face and sighed with a complicated expression: "It seems that my connection with the organization is deeper than I thought."
When Haruya Kuromon followed Gin out of the hospital's secret passage, Vodka was sitting in the driver's seat of a Porsche 356A. Judging from the thickness of the snow on the roof, he must have been waiting for quite some time.
Seeing Kuromon Haruya walking normally, he polished his sunglasses and greeted him: "Butbell? So the news about your injury was fake news."
Gin pulled open the passenger door and picked up the cigarette lighter: "He's like me, the kind of person who can be cured with a single bullet."
"Is that so!" Upon hearing his elder brother's explanation, Vodka craned his neck in surprise, as if he had seen a rare and precious animal.
His reaction, which clearly indicated he knew the inside story, made Kuromon Haruya genuinely curious about Gin's plans.
Leaning back in the back seat, he continued to act out the dialogue as he was supposed to: "Gin, can you give me an explanation now? About the organization, and about the changes in my body."
“Vodka, explain to him the origin of the ‘Black Gate’ clan.”
"Yes!"
Following his elder brother's instructions, Vodka took out a prepared speech, cleared his throat, and addressed the unofficial history he had poured all his literary talent into:
"Sixty years ago, as a reward for those who had made outstanding contributions, that gentleman bestowed the surname Kuromon upon the then second-in-command, codenamed 'Butterbeer,' and allocated some land to him. Since then, the Kuromon family of Tottori Prefecture has served the organization for generations."
"In other words, you were a pre-selected member of the organization from birth."
"Wait a minute." Kuromon Haruya pulled his trench coat tighter and questioned, "I've never heard anyone mention something like this before, not even when I was a child."
Not only is there no mention of him in the organizational database's compilation text, but there's no such statement either! Apart from the "butter beer" entry which he wrote, where did the other "second-in-command" and "major achievements" come from?!
"That's the problem," Gin said sarcastically, flicking ash from his cigarette out the window.
"When the head of the family, your mother, Kuromon Miwa, was not satisfied with this traditional arrangement, she felt that the Kuromon family had already given enough of their lives to the organization, and with the changing times, there was no need to ruin another child's future."
"So the organization purged the rebels?"
“No.” Vodka turned to the next page of the file. “According to the application, the gentleman readily agreed to the couple’s request after learning of it. But…”
"Kuromon Miwa was uneasy about the possible consequences of leaving the organization. Taking advantage of her position guarding the branch research institute, she made contact with the Miyano couple, who were developing deadly drugs. As part of the exchange to help the Miyano couple escape the organization, Kuromon Miwa wanted to use them to create the illusion that her family had been murdered so that she could secretly escape overseas to seek asylum."
"During the relocation of Miyano, your father realized his wife's plan and tried to stop her. Enraged, the Miyano couple decided to use their unfinished invention to break through the encirclement."
The neurotoxin, still in its experimental phase, quickly took effect. Aside from the Miyano couple, who were prepared, the only surviving test subject was you, the sole survivor of the Kuromon family, Kuromon Haruya.
