Chapter 8 The Secret Recipe for Delicious Coffee

Conan quickly crawled under the table, squatted down next to the unconscious Mr. Naomichi, and placed his finger on the side of his carotid artery.

"Call an ambulance immediately! His pulse is extremely weak!"

Before Ran could even dial the emergency number, another mournful cry came from the courtyard.

Sekiya Kaori had long lost her previous momentum, her legs giving way as she collapsed onto the grass. Following the direction she pointed, Minagawa Katsuhiko and Watanabe Yoshimi lay on the ground, their figures forming an X shape, their fates unknown.

"Mr. Naomichi and Mr. Minagawa have just passed away." The paramedics entered the living room and announced the devastating news.

"How could this happen..." Guan Gu Xiang covered her face and cried on the sofa, unable to understand why an ordinary Valentine's Day party had ended up like this.

With Ran and Sonoko's reassurance, Sekiya Kaori revealed their complicated love triangle: Sekiya Kaori → Minagawa Katsuhiko → Watanabe Yoshimi.

"Inspector Megure, I now know the truth about this incident!"

"This case is a tragedy caused by a love dispute. After being verbally abused by Mr. Minagawa, Ms. Watanabe ultimately decided to commit suicide with poisoned chocolate!"

After hearing her account, Kogoro Mouri jumped to the center of the crowd and pointed to the sky: "And Mr. Naomichi witnessed his beloved being murdered and killed, and unable to bear the shock, he also passed away!"

Inspector Megure slapped the newly acquired forensic report onto Kogoro Mouri's face and pushed the troublemaker aside.

"But, my friend Mori, the test results show that Mr. Naomichi and Mr. Minagawa both died from pesticide poisoning, while Ms. Watanabe died from cyanide poisoning."

"What? Mr. Naotoshi is one too!" The unreliable uncle was completely baffled.

Cyanide takes effect immediately upon contact, while pesticides take effect much more slowly.

Based on the forensic results, Yoru Kuromon immediately understood the entire course of the case.

Both Ms. Watanabe and Mr. Minagawa smoked cigarettes given to them by Mr. Naomichi, but Minagawa was used to removing the filters, so Ms. Watanabe died of cyanide while he did not.

The only thing that separated Mr. Minagawa and Mr. Naomichi from everyone else in terms of their diet was that they both drank coffee but didn't eat cake. Combined with Mrs. Minagawa's unusual behavior and the unique flavor of coffee...

A belated wave of dizziness gradually washed over him, and Kuromon Haruya belatedly realized that he had drunk three cups of coffee.

I'll just leave the deduction to Conan, avoid taking notes, and catch up on some sleep.

"Brother Heimen, what's wrong?"

Just as Conan Edogawa had an idea and wanted to find someone to talk to, he saw Haruya Kuromon leaning against the wall, pale-faced and swaying precariously.

"Cake, coffee, cigarette filter, antidote."

Kuromon Haruya selected three keywords, mimicking his past experience of tasting poison, and collapsed to the ground.

"Brother Heimen! Someone come quick, someone save him!!"

Damn it, how could this happen? Conan Edogawa gritted his teeth, never imagining that his friend would be murdered right under his nose.

He knew two of the keywords, but coffee and antidote—I get it, the coffee was laced with pesticides, and the cake contained the antidote.

If it weren't for the overturned cake and the impulsive smoking, these would have been two precise murders targeting the same person!

Conan immediately used the wristwatch-shaped tranquilizer gun invented by Professor Agasa to knock out Kogoro Mouri and revealed the truth of the incident.

"...But Mr. Kuromon and Mr. Naomichi were completely innocent victims! You knew this, yet you did nothing, Mrs. Minagawa, what do you value life for!"

Using Kogoro Mouri's identity, Conan unleashed his anger and helplessness, not only questioning Mrs. Minagawa, but also those criminals and mysterious men in black he had confronted before.

Lady Minagawa, holding the seemingly understanding but not quite, collapsed to the ground and wept.

“I don’t know, and I can’t do anything about it! Should I tell them the coffee is poisoned and they shouldn’t drink it?! If I do that, I’ll be arrested immediately, and Ah Jin will have no one to rely on.”

In this case, the perpetrator's repentance garnered no sympathy; it was just another ordinary tragedy in Beika Town.

The prisoner was detained, the police and detectives packed up and left, and then night fell.

A dark figure nimbly and deftly scaled the Minagawa family's wall and removed a concealed filming device from it.

"Conan's questioning was really cool. Even Uncle Mori's sleeping face turned serious."

The newcomer was none other than Kuromon Haruya, who had been transported to the hospital by ambulance earlier. Wearing a Bluetooth headset developed by the organization, he was watching the daytime deduction scene at four times the speed.

"Luckily I had a backup plan, otherwise I would have missed this crucial moment!"

On the screen, when they parted ways, Toshihide Wakamatsu seemed to make a final struggle. He turned to the side, closed his eyes, and perfectly grabbed Conan's hand. Then he hugged him tightly, giving Conan his first on-screen kiss.

No wonder Conan looked green during his hospital visit.

Looking at the calendar on her phone, Kuromon Haruya tried to calculate the museum murder case in her mind, but found that she couldn't figure it out at all, so she simply decided to pay a visit while she was on her way.

...

In the dead of night, in the pitch-black corridors of the Mihana Art Museum, an ancient medieval suit of armor, carrying a greatsword, wanders step by step among its sleeping companions.

The sharp blade carved eerie marks on the floor as he dragged it along, and with each step he took, a chilling cutting sound, like the guillotine's blade, emanated from his joints.

At this moment, this knight, a symbol of justice, is like a ghost driven by resentment, awaiting judgment in blood.

"Knight who will bear the punishment of heavenly wrath, please stop here."

A mysterious voice came from the darkest shadows, admonishing with an aria-like melody.

"You don't need to do it yourself to punish that demon."

Inside the armor, Curator Ochiai cautiously raised his greatsword, stood still, and asked in a cold voice, "Who are you, and what do you want?"

"I am the demon of crows." A red-eyed raven flew out of the darkness and hopped to the Ochiai Museum Director.

“I received the prophecy. The righteous knight punished the demon, but he himself was also splattered with demon blood and corrupted by the demon.”

This is the content of the oil painting in the museum called "Divine Retribution," which was also the inspiration for Director Ochiai's plan to commit this murder.

The mysterious man had seen through his final motives and methods. Upon realizing this, Director Ochiai felt a strange sense of relief and unease.

"What price do you want? If it means plunging this old man into darkness, then I would rather fail and go to jail."

"You don't need to worry about that. My targets are only demons. After Mr. Manaka dies tomorrow, my men will take over his company and return this art museum to you."

A beautifully crafted business card with black background and white lettering flew out at lightning speed and landed precisely in the gap of the breastplate.

"In return, give me your armor and that painting, 'Divine Retribution,' which perpetuates evil."

The red-eyed raven bent its head and flew away, following the footsteps of the person in the shadows.

Director Ochiai took off the business card. The front of the card read "Seven Sons Group" and a phone number, while the back had a badge shaped like a crow.
