"Watch out, Brother Heimen!"

Conan lunged at Kuromon Haruya with all his might, but to no avail. The short distance between the two beds now felt like an insurmountable chasm, and he could only watch helplessly as the gleaming blade fell.

Just as the blade was about to touch the tip of her hair, Conan saw Haruya Kuromon groggily open her eyes, but it was too late!

Zheng!

The sound of wind cutting past his nose again, and the smooth, broken blade of the knife was embedded in the bed board beside Conan's head, reflecting his terrified expression.

Kuromon Haruya, who had been lying on the bed, stood silently in front of it, her right leg slightly raised and resting against the trembling half of the machete in the attacker's hand, without making a move.

The man in black robes clutched his aching wrist, staring in disbelief at the broken sword, and swallowed hard.

That kind of force when kicking someone would at least break a bone, right? Is that really something a human could do?

In the darkness, Conan couldn't see his expression, but that familiar roundhouse kick and slow movements were clearly the characteristics of Kuromon when he was grumpy in the morning!

Wary of the young man in front of him who seemed inexplicably dazed, Takahashi threw away his machete and decided to temporarily avoid a confrontation, go to the villa's warehouse to replenish his fighting strength, and then make further plans.

The slender handle of the knife slammed into the bedside table, sending the vase, tea set, thermos, and lamp crashing to the floor. A series of distinct, crisp, and cheerful crackling sounds followed.

Boom——

A flash of lightning streaked across the window, illuminating Kuromon Yoru's expression. His pale face and previously lifeless pupils were now focused on him.

Conan watched as the man in black robes took a half step back in fright from the thunder, seemingly trying to escape, but Haruya Kuromon was faster, kicking him and the French windows together to the ground floor.

Kuromon Haruka exhaled a puff of mist late at night, tossed out a sentence, "I'm going to chase Takahashi, you quickly inform everyone," and jumped off the balcony.

"Heimen-kun!" Conan rushed forward, clinging to the railing to try and dissuade him, but could only see the broken window frame wreckage on the ground below.

He glanced to his side and immediately understood where Kuromon Yoya's conclusion came from.

The French windows in Chikako Ikeda's room were found to be open and intact. They had already checked all the doors and windows in the house; the only culprit would be someone inside the villa!

With unsteady steps, Conan, despite his high fever, pounded on Ran's door, silently hoping, "Kuromon-kun, please don't get lost again!"

Meanwhile, Kuromon Haruya was happily hunting in the shadows of the dense forest.

"My neck hurts so much, Takahashi, it hurts so much!!!"

The woman's pitiful wails melted into the wind, lingering in all directions.

Ryoichi Takahashi leaned against the base of a crooked tree, pulled off the bandage to cover his mouth, afraid that his breathing would be too loud and attract attention.

He didn't understand why things had turned out this way! When he made up his mind to avenge Atsuko, he was already prepared for his crime to be exposed.

Therefore, he prepared to end his own life on the one hand, and also prepared escape equipment in the woods on the other.

But after he was kicked away and disappeared into the woods, everything seemed to have entered a horror movie detached from reality.

Chikako's cries grew ever closer, forcing Takahashi Ryoichi to cover his head and face with his cloak and cower beside the tree roots.

"Where is my head, Takahashi? Answer me!"

"Takahashi, Takahashi, Takahashi".

Ryoichi Takahashi covered his ears, but couldn't block out the calls coming from all directions. His damp, cold hair slipped through his fingers, and then, a pair of sharp claws gripped his arm!

"Go away, go away!"

Takahashi struggled to get away, rolling and crawling, but because he was hidden under the tree roots, he could only roll around evenly in the mud a few times.

He opened his eyes and looked ahead. Several crows of different sizes were circling around him, forming a semicircle.

"Get, get the bridge." One of the crows met his gaze and made a muffled call with a strange accent.

Oh, it's just a crow that mimics human speech.

Takahashi wiped away the cold sweat, still shaken: "That scared me to death! That's really bad luck. I was so stupid, thinking I'd actually seen a ghost. Go away, go away!"

"Exquisite, exquisite."

Takahashi looked in the direction of the sound, and the largest bird in the flock hopped in front of him, its dark eyes staring intently at him: "I'm inside your belly."

abdomen?

Ryoichi Takahashi covered his head and slowly looked down at his side, where a severed head was standing on the ground in front of his abdomen.

"Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah!"

The mournful cries echoed through the forest, enough to bring tears to the eyes of all who heard them and silence those who witnessed them.

From the bushes directly ahead, a figure limped slowly closer, with countless strange black clumps cocooning on his body.

Kuromon Haruya stopped a short distance away, looked at Takahashi Ryoichi wrapped in a black bag, and sighed regretfully.

I thought I'd finally met a fellow horror movie enthusiast and could have a deep, immersive discussion about my viewing experiences. But I was so easily scared; I gave in after only a short while!

"Hey, if you keep crowding, this raincoat is going to be torn. Bringing your whole family to seek shelter from the rain is really inappropriate."

Kuromon Haruya took the remaining crows from his shoulder and pocket, tossed them into the air, and covered his face, unwilling to think about their actions.

"Honestly, we told you to cause trouble for him, not to hide the victim's head and take it away! That's so disrespectful to the dead!"

The abandoned crows huddled together, tilted their heads, blinked, and looked as if they hadn't understood what he was saying.

The night was still long, and Haruya Kuromon didn't want to waste her time arguing with a child.

He stepped forward, patted Takahashi Ryoichi's face, and after confirming he was unconscious, gave him a hand chop to improve his sleep quality. He then looked at the crow family beside him:

"Has the item you asked me to deliver arrived?"

The patriarch of the crow family nodded and took a plastic bag containing a cloak, bandages, and a cell phone from a tree hole nearby.

Kuromon Haruya took the phone and dialed the pinned number: "Hey, Kagemitsu? I was struck by lightning while I was walking in the forest."

"It's nothing. Tell the head of R&D that if they can't develop a lightning-proof camera and phone before I get struck by lightning again, send their entire team to Sherry as guinea pigs."

After hanging up the phone, Kuromon Haruya took off the cloak that Takahashi had rolled around in and covered him with mud, then changed into the clothes that had been delivered by the Flying Crow Express.

"The theme of tonight's movie is a terrifying battle royale."

Rumbling--

The crystal decorations on the ceiling trembled slightly in the thunder. In the living room of the villa, Ran Mouri squatted in front of the sofa, holding a spoon full of ginger tea and handing it to Conan.

"Conan, Kuromon said drinking more water helps you recover from a cold faster, have another cup, ah—"

Conan bit his lower lip, feeling both pain and pleasure: "Ran-neechan, I've already had five drinks! I'll let go now, I need to go to the bathroom!"

"Hahaha, who told you to keep running around like that, you little brat!" Sonoko Suzuki pointed at Conan's embarrassing situation and burst into laughter.

On the sofa, a pink plush bath towel was tightly wrapped around Conan, folded and tucked in repeatedly, leaving only his head sticking out. It was a typical baby swaddling method.

After Kuromon disappeared while chasing the man in black, Conan, even with a high fever, still sneaked out several times.

After returning from his search, Mr. Ota caught him and immediately came up with a clever way to subdue Conan for Ran Mouri.

"...But I never expected that the murderer would be Mr. Takahashi."

Sonoko looked at her sister, who had been washing dishes in the kitchen for an hour, and said with genuine concern, "If it weren't for Mr. Ota's additional conjecture, we wouldn't have known that Ms. Atsuko and Ms. Chikako had such a connection."

Although the murderer lacked a confession, the truth of this malicious murder case, disguised as a serial killer, was eventually revealed.

Because Chikako Ikeda plagiarized Atsuko's work "Sky-Colored Kingdom" and became famous, leading to Atsuko's suicide, Ryoichi Takahashi, who knew about it, decided to kill Chikako at this moment of reunion with his old friend, as a sacrifice for Atsuko.

Kakutani slammed his fist on the table, tears welling in his eyes: "Even so, killing Chikako like that is still too much."

"That's how it is..."

"Conan, what did you say?" To make it easier to apply a damp towel, Ran had already taken off Conan's glasses. She leaned against Conan, listening to his mumbled words:

"No matter the reason, it cannot be an excuse for someone to kill another. Life is precious and should be cherished by everyone..."

Shinichi…

Another clap of thunder, followed by a brief flash of lights, and then the villa was plunged into complete darkness.

"Hey! Was the power outage because of the lightning strike?! Flashlight, where's the flashlight?" Sonoko Suzuki fumbled around in the dark, following her memory.

Ran Mouri only felt the space next to her suddenly disappear: "Wait, Sonoko, you didn't take the blanket, you took Conan!"

Conan, who had been freed by Sonoko and taken the opportunity to escape, sat in the corner of the sofa and breathed a sigh of relief: finally he could move around freely.

Fortunately, at that moment, Ayako Suzuki came out of the kitchen carrying a lit candlestick, preventing the others in the living room from crawling all over the floor.

"I found some spare candles, let's light them for now, it's too dangerous to go outside and check the wiring right now."

Kakutani also picked up the camera on the table and turned on the lights: "So, my camera can at least provide some illumination..."

On the second-floor railing, a suspicious bandaged face emerged under the light, its white eyes revealing no pupils, and it was grinning as it let out a strange scream.

A cacophony of screams, a mix of male and female, echoed through the living room: "Ughhhhhhh!"

Bandaged man Kuromon Haruya shrank back, quietly vaulted over the railing with his axe in hand, glanced back at Conan who had already caught up, and landed lightly on the floor.

"Takahashi, we are also sorry for what happened to Atsuko. Let's not hurt any more innocent people!" Ota picked up a flashlight, trying to persuade his former comrade.

Unfortunately, it wasn't Takahashi who launched the attack here, but rather Kuromon Haruya, who was filling in for the murderer.

Speaking of which, Vermouth also impersonated a serial killer before. Could this be considered a father-daughter pairing?

"But Atsuko is never coming back!"

With a voice as sharp as Takahashi's, Kuromon Haruya questioned with heart-wrenching pain: "Atsuko was so looking forward to it, yet it ended here! My heart has gone with her, leaving only hatred!"

With that, Kuromon Haruya raised his axe high and swung it at the photographer Kakutani.

"We didn't know about this!" Kakutani dodged left and right with his camera, narrowly avoiding the attack each time, creating a thrilling and suspenseful scene.

"A cowardly shirker of responsibility!"

The first-person close-up shot was completed, and Kuromon Haruya disappeared into the darkness, giving everyone a chance to catch their breath.

When structuring a horror movie plot, the pacing of events is paramount. The sense of horror generally comes from two aspects: the tension created by suspense, keeping the viewer constantly on edge, and the thrill brought by impactful visuals.

Too many scare points will only desensitize the audience and make them more likely to notice plot holes.

"Unforgivable, I cannot forgive!"

For example, right now, Kuromon Haruya casually smashed the glass while sneaking around the villa, keeping Conan away from chasing him.

"Stop!" Conan shouted hoarsely as he struggled forward.

Seeing that Ota was scared away by the bandaged man's axe, he knew that chasing after him like this was not a solution.

Children's motor skills are not as developed as adults'. The intense body temperature after strenuous exercise causes dizziness and headaches, and the overworked chest is extremely painful. If this continues, he'll be the first to give out!

That's the only way...

An unusually terrifying whooshing sound, as if something were forcefully tearing through the air, came from behind. The long-dormant alarm bells of survival instinct rang out, and Kuromon Haruya subconsciously rolled to the right, still feeling a sharp pain in her left arm where the airflow had grazed her.

The giant soccer ball shattered the crystal chandelier in the living room, crashing to the floor and kicking up a cloud of smoke.

Kuromon Haruya clutched her left arm, a mixture of surprise and relief:

Should he be thankful that at least the football wasn't designed for satellites? That was more foul than magic!

Although he was skilled enough to dodge these attacks, it was not in line with the character of a typical murderer like Takahashi Ryoichi to do such a thing.

Taking advantage of the fact that everyone's attention was diverted by the football, Kuromon Haruya turned around and slowly moved his feet towards the outside.

"Takahashi, don't run away!"

Still discovered.

Kuromon Haruya glanced behind him and, as expected, the exceptionally talented corgi police dog was panting heavily, stubbornly following behind him.

"The figure in front of me has slowed down. It seems he's running out of energy!" Conan clutched his chest and flipped open the watch cover on his wrist to reveal the scope.

Just hold on for a few more steps, until he makes a mistake, then use the tranquilizer dart in your watch to knock him down.

It's now!

The moment Ryoichi Takahashi lowered his guard and stopped at a fork in the road to determine his direction, Conan immediately pressed the button and fired the tranquilizer dart.

A thin, spiderweb-like light flashed and struck the target! The dark figure swayed, lost its balance, and fell down the hillside.

Conan caught up with the peephole and, seeing Takahashi Ryoichi unconscious in the mud, fell to the ground with a relieved smile.

"We've found Conan and Mr. Takahashi!" Ran Mouri caught the unconscious Conan just in time and waved to the others who were chasing after them from a distance.

Before anyone knew it, the storm that had haunted the night finally subsided, and this heinous crime came to an end.

A few hours later, several rescue helicopters representing the Suzuki Foundation arrived at the scene with detectives and escorted the frightened group back to Beika Town.

Conan only realized afterward, when he had regained his senses, that the rescue had arrived so quickly entirely thanks to Haruya Kuromon.

According to Black Gate Brother's own account:

"During my pursuit of Takahashi, I was distracted by the traps he set and lost my way. But luckily, I found the hiking gear and supplies he had prepared for his escape!"

Worried he might attack again, I tried to retrace my steps back to the villa… By the time I realized it, I had already climbed over a mountain and bumped into other residents, hahaha.

Ryoichi Takahashi was eventually imprisoned by the police for his heinous acts and attempts to endanger the lives of many people. Just looking at the lineup of lawyers hired by the Suzuki Foundation, he was likely to spend his entire life in jail.

Another point worth mentioning is that the videotape of the attack, which Kakutani filmed and used as evidence in the crime, was so horrifying that it resembled a professional movie, giving Inspector Megure and the other detectives who were examining it a big fright.

According to Officer Takagi's slip of the tongue, the video appears to have been selected as special material for training new officers and will be circulated to other police departments.
