The Book Soul Chronicles: Godslayer
Chapter 91 Returning Home
Just as Ye Qingyang was deep in thought, a voice interrupted his thoughts.
Is Ye Qingyang there?
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Ye Qingyang immediately relaxed, straightened his clothes, opened the door, and went out.
"Brother Fu Yuan, I'm here!"
Ye Qingyang smiled and walked towards the other person.
"Hey! You got another letter from home!"
"Thank you for your hard work, Brother Fuyuan!"
"Sigh, it's not hard work, it's just bad luck! Alright, I still have a few letters to deliver, so I'll be going now!"
"Alright, Brother Fu Yuan, you're so busy, then I won't keep you any longer."
"Ok!"
Ye Qingyang watched the person leave, then turned back into the house and eagerly opened the letter to read it.
After reading it, Ye Qingyang's feelings became very complicated, and he felt somewhat depressed.
Over the years, I've been sending my monthly allowance and savings home, and things have gotten better and better for my family. In the beginning, the letters from my family members all showed their concern.
Although they still write letters over the years, the frequency of their letters has decreased, and their words are increasingly ingratiating. At the same time, their language is more respectful, and even their words of concern are few and far between.
Ye Qingyang sat in the chair, clutching the letter in his hand, but his hand unconsciously fell slowly to his knees. He had to admit that time would slowly fade everything, whether it was beautiful memories or the warm family affection of the past.
He stayed in this small space, seemingly oblivious to the passage of time, until he saw his parents' letters and realized that time was indeed passing.
"Time flies! If it weren't for the letter mentioning that my younger sister was already engaged and would get married after she came of age, I wouldn't have known that time would pass so quickly! Now that I think about it, it feels like it was a long time ago that I parted ways with my younger sister!" Ye Qingyang muttered to himself.
But Ye Qingyang's eyes were filled with tears; they held longing, reluctance, and a hint of grievance and sadness.
As the eldest son, I was unable to fulfill my filial duties to my parents. Now that my younger sister is about to be engaged, I don't know what kind of person he is. I'm afraid I won't be able to make it to my sister's coming-of-age ceremony. I hope I can be there on her wedding day and see her get married with my own eyes.
Thinking of this, Ye Qingyang felt extremely bitter. He had left home at a young age due to the helplessness of survival. He watched his family grow distant from him, and he was powerless to do anything about it. How could he not be sad?
Ye Qingyang looked at the bracelet his little sister had given him, gently stroking the beautiful stone beads on it. He recalled his father's earnest instructions, his mother's reluctant tears, and the innocent yet sincere feelings of his younger siblings when he left home. The sadness of parting welled up in his heart again.
Ye Qingyang's tears, which he had just tried to hold back, still flowed down his cheeks. He wiped them with his sleeve as he spoke.
"Why are you crying? Your sister is getting married, you should be happy. Your younger brother is also engaged, everyone is settled, you should be happy!"
After a while, Ye Qingyang calmed down and decided to go home. He needed to make preparations now. After all, the Tiangang Sect was not a place where one could come and go as one pleased. Everything had a procedure, and he had to prepare early so that he could at least be there in time for his younger sister's wedding and personally escort her off to her new home.
Fearing he wouldn't have enough time, Ye Qingyang used some money to bribe officials and arranged for his leave in advance.
He also made himself some calming pills. His emotions had been fluctuating a lot lately, and the frequency of his inner demon invasions was increasing. This made him have another doubt, and he needed to verify his thoughts.
Ye Qingyang had to cram for knowledge overnight, but fortunately he had a good foundation. Chu Xingyun also happened to have several of the medicinal herbs needed for the Qingxin Pill. He refined some according to the prescription, and it was indeed useful. Unfortunately, the medicinal effect was far inferior to that of the pill made from thousand-year-old spiritual herbs, but it was enough.
Stepping out of the mountain gate, he turned back to look at the Tiangang Sect. Just like when he first arrived at the Tiangang Sect, he felt a sense of overlap with his former self, but there were also differences. His eyes now held more complex emotions and a faint sorrow than his former self.
Ye Qingyang sighed softly, turned and left, trekking through mountains and rivers as he had done on his journey there.
He walked along familiar scenery, remembering clearly where he had rested on which rock, slept in which tree, and escaped danger.
It turns out that the memories haven't faded, but rather that I haven't had time to look back. Life is too short, and I have too many things to do. The scenery along the way has been replaced by busy things.
Ye Qingyang was lucky. Halfway there, a horse-drawn carriage carrying goods happened to pass by his hometown, so he got some spare change and hitched a ride.
