The Book Soul Chronicles: Godslayer

Chapter 83 The Mysterious Small Cauldron

He ran all the way to the place emitting a ghostly light and slowly approached, feeling extremely nervous. After all, ordinary people rarely encounter such strange things, let alone a teenager like himself.

When he got closer and found that there was nothing wrong with it except for the faint glow, he carefully approached the brightest part of the glow.

Ye Qingyang approached and discovered that the eerie light was emanating from a ditch behind a large tree, but the ditch was surrounded by weeds that obscured the source.

Ye Qingyang walked over and parted the weeds with his hand, and saw something that emitted a faint light, half buried in the soil, resembling a bottle, with patterns half exposed. He thought it looked vaguely familiar, but he was very sure that he had never seen such an exquisite thing before.

Especially this thing, it looked like it had fallen from a great height. There was soil bulging around it, but this thing was in the middle. Filled with curiosity, he reached out and shoveled through the soil to take it out.

It was a cauldron, no bigger than the palm of a hand, square in shape, cast entirely in purple gold, with a hollow center and covered with ornate patterns. The innermost part seemed to be made of a thin layer of glass.

The cauldron has a round mouth with a ring of intricate patterns engraved around the edge, and a purple gemstone is embedded in the center, emitting a soft and mysterious light.

The four sides of the cauldron are decorated with four mythical beasts—Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise—carved from purple gold. Their eyes are inlaid with purple gemstones, making them lifelike and expressive. The cauldron's legs are four giant beast claws, exquisitely carved, with a blue gemstone inlaid on each claw toe, crystal clear, like stars adorning the night sky.

The cauldron exuded a powerful aura that made one's heart tremble, like a sleeping divine beast ready to awaken and devour everything at any moment. Yet, for him, it was a long-lost sense of familiarity.

Such a thought flashed through Ye Qingyang's mind, and he felt it was absurd. He had never seen anything so beautiful before. It was clearly a treasure, and if he had seen it before, he would never have forgotten it.

Ye Qingyang held the object in his hand and felt some liquid sloshing inside. He held it up to the torch for a closer look and, through the openwork design and thin glass, discovered that there was indeed more than half a container of liquid inside, but he couldn't see exactly what it looked like.

He tried to open it, but he just couldn't.

"Strange, why can't I open this thing? Never mind, I'll go back and investigate later."

After saying that, he stuffed the small cauldron into his arms, checked it to make sure it wouldn't fall out, and then turned and left.

He felt that the events of the day were very strange. First, Wu Penghui disappeared without a trace, and then there was this strange little cauldron. All of these things weighed heavily on his mind.

No matter what, finding Wu Penghui is the first priority. As for the small cauldron, although it gave him the feeling that it belonged to him, he should take it back and hide it. He must not let anyone else discover this treasure. This was Ye Qingyang's first thought.

Of course, he was also a man who followed his heart. The fact that he had the luck to find it meant that it belonged to him. Ye Qingyang looked back as he walked, thinking to himself.

But suddenly a chill ran down his spine. He realized his thoughts had changed; he had changed!

If it were his parents who had previously advised him to be upright and honest, and he had often heard Mr. Zhu's teachings on the sage's words, "If one cannot distinguish between propriety and righteousness among the masses, then what benefit will one receive from the masses?"

But what's wrong with me now? How did I become so selfish and indifferent? It's as if the dull, mediocre but kind-hearted boy I used to be no longer exists.

This feeling transformed him from the gentleman Mr. Zhu had described into a villain. He should have felt guilty, but Ye Qingyang felt nothing at all; he even harbored doubts.

Are the "gentlemen" described by the world really like that? Do they truly live up to their words? Should a person's character be judged by the pronouncements of so-called sages?

In Ye Qingyang's view, living well is more important than anything else. Only by living can there be hope. One must live one's own life and not make hasty judgments about what kind of person one is based on a few words from others.

They are not themselves, they did not make decisions in their own circumstances, and they have no right to judge themselves. So what if they are selfish or indifferent in Ye Qingyang's eyes?

He doesn't live in this world to listen to others negate his decisions or judge his life. He lives in this world, and to survive, he must change his naive ideas, learn to adapt, and learn the rules of survival.

Environment is a crucial, even absolute, factor influencing a person. He witnessed much selfishness, hypocrisy, and deceit within the Tiangang Sect, all of which were subtly changing this young man.

In the blink of an eye, Ye Qingyang arrived at Eagle Cliff again. He suppressed the strange feeling in his heart and focused on walking there. He didn't want to find his corpse instead of the person he was looking for.

Oh no! If he fell from here, there wouldn't even be a body left, after all, who knows how many ferocious birds and beasts are below! If he went down, he would be giving back to nature.
