Chapter Two: Monster Skills?

"Can this tiny, run-down place really have a thousand players?"

"No, that's not what we should be worried about right now."

"With no weapons and no food, how could I possibly kill that many? Not all players are as lucky as this poor guy who can pick off the stragglers."

After thinking it over, Shi Qian decided to give up thinking and take it one step at a time.

He saw this when he flipped through the panel: "Killing" could help him locate players, but it had a time limit.

A player with 0 experience level gives 10 energy points, the three common monsters give 5 each, and he didn't look at the remaining monsters and creatures, since it's hard to encounter them directly without specifically looking for them.

With 7 bars of hunger remaining, it's unlikely that players will be willing to kill it.

We can only try to kill some monsters by exploiting terrain to collect some energy points, and then exchange them for some bread to eat.

He has already tried to "take out a loan," but under negative energy conditions, he cannot go any further.

After observing for a while, I realized that the narrow space I'm in now is actually quite suitable.

With just a few minor modifications, it should be usable.

Not long after, Shi Qian led eight or nine zombies to inspect the results of his work.

He didn't want to attract so many; he originally only planned to bring two or three. But when he climbed out, he found a whole bunch of zombies outside.

As soon as Shi Qian appeared, all the zombies turned their heads, stared straight at him, and marched in unison toward him.

The last time I saw a scene like this was when Shi Qian panicked and didn't even think about splitting the monsters; he just ran straight towards the trap.

By the time you realize what's happening, it's too late to try and break up; you can only go for the kill.

Shi Qian still had great faith in his luck and ability when it came to gambling.

After luring the zombies to the trap, Shi Qian leaped, and the zombies fell into a pit two blocks deep in front of him.

Fortunately, no Creepers were attracted outside, otherwise Shi Qian would have been unable to handle this bunch of monsters.

Following the passage beside him, Shi Qian descended into a three-section-deep tunnel.

Separated from the zombies by only one wall, Shi Qian had already dug a small space underground to facilitate foot care before going up to lure the monsters.

It seems there are no problems now.

It's a pity there's no inventory, so you can't cover the passageway, and you have to worry about monsters coming up and down above you.

After taking down the first zombie, he felt a notification pop up on the system panel.

Upon opening it, Shi Qian burst out laughing.

[Slay the monster: Zombie]

[Gained Ability: Pain Shield]

[Skill panel unlocked]

"Does this mean... each type of monster grants different abilities?"

Shi Qian eagerly clicked into the skill panel, only to leave feeling utterly dejected.

"Holy crap, this piece of junk costs me 500 energy points to unlock! That's outrageous!!"

Pain shielding is exactly what it sounds like; it prevents Shi Qian from feeling pain when he is injured, and he can decide to turn it on and off himself.

It's a very useful skill, but it's too expensive.

Keep in mind that a zombie only gives you five energy points.

In other words, he needs to kill 100 zombies or 50 players after paying off his debts before he can use this skill.

"This transmigration is too torturous—why is it that everyone else's transmigration is invincible from the start, or has a bunch of cheat codes, while I have to tragically kill my way through them all!"

Shi Qian is breaking through defenses while simultaneously fighting zombies; slacking off now is a dead end.

He hasn't lived enough yet, and who knows if killing him will allow him to return to his original world in the end.

Shi Qian wants to go home.

A few minutes later, Shi Qian finally finished killing the whole bunch of zombies.

He couldn't pick up the rotten flesh and experience points on the ground at all; it was so painful to see them but not be able to reach them.

Fortunately, after some effort, his debts were reduced by half.

It's still dark, so the flow of time here should be different from that in the original game world.

However, Shi Qian cannot determine the exact amount yet; he woke up in the evening.

He's been active at night ever since, and he feels like he's going blind.

On the way up the hill, Shi Qian wondered if the abilities each monster gave were related to themselves, then Night Vision would have to kill Phantom Wing.

The Phantom Wing only appears if the player doesn't sleep for three days. The creator of the Phantom Wing is in a lot of pain, as he currently has no equipment, and Xiao Sha said that he is not currently a player, so it's unclear whether this condition can be triggered.

The important thing is to lure monsters and collect energy; his satiety level is getting lower and lower.

After collecting two more waves of monsters of similar numbers, Shi Qian finally paid off his debts and had some savings.

Even after switching to a few different types of bread, my energy levels were already low again.

But at least it's a good start; now we don't have to worry about starving to death.

After regaining full satiety, Shi Qian planned to find Xiao Bai to see what abilities Xiao Bai possessed.

Although it's highly likely that we won't use it now, it can still satisfy our curiosity.

When buying bread earlier, Shi Qian discovered that he could actually use cubes, but it was still the same old trick, requiring energy points.

Moreover, once placed, it becomes like any other block in the world; once dismantled, it cannot be picked up.

It's essentially spending energy points to buy the right to place a block once.

"This is a real swindler; even the villagers wouldn't cheat you like this."

In the store, you can buy any kind of block, even bedrock, but the energy value of that block terrified Shi Qian.

It's convenient, but it's too expensive.

Shi Qian wandered around hiding from the zombies for a while before finally finding a lone little white one.

Having chosen the right angle, Shi Qian dug down three squares and continued digging along the path.

I was worried that Xiaobai might wander off, since his minimap didn't show the locations of creatures and monsters except for the kill order.

After digging to the desired location, they heard the familiar sound of bones colliding, and only then did they feel relieved.

They started by hollowing out some of the area around Xiaobai's basement, and then dug out space for pedicures.

Shi Qian currently has enough energy left to buy a dirt block.

Of course, we need to be more careful with our spending.

After finally setting up the trap, Shi Qian dug up the soil beneath Xiao Bai's feet.

Xiao Bai fell through the hole into the pit that Shi Qian had dug.

It's still the same pedicure method.

Not long after, only a bone and an arrow remained where Xiaobai had been.

Shi Qian couldn't wait to open the system panel to see what abilities he had gained this time.

Monster defeated: Skeleton Archer

[Gained Ability: 100% Accuracy]

"They're not even giving us any means of attacking?!"

Shi Qian was counting on this little white dog to give him the ability to shoot.

But now he's disappointed.

He still can only fight monsters with his bare hands, taking one bar of health at a time, and it would take him forever to kill a single monster.

With a sigh, Shi Qian opened the ability details page.

[100% Accuracy: Guaranteed hit rate when using projectiles; cannot be upgraded]

"Hiss, I wonder what kind of sparks will fly when this 100% meets Little Black."

As everyone knows, Xiao Hei is immune to projectiles. Although he avoids attacks by teleporting, he is still 100% immune to damage.

If two 100%s were put together, wouldn't that create a bug in the world?
