Transmigration and Self-Saving Cultivation

Chapter 302 The Difficult Pursuit.

After escaping the collapsing mountain range, Jun Luochuan, Su Yao, Ye Ying, and Ling Shuang rested briefly on a plain. They each sat cross-legged with their eyes closed, circulating their spiritual energy to try and recover their strength as quickly as possible. However, the perilous scenes they had just experienced were still vivid in their minds, and the numerous dangers of this mysterious place loomed over them like a dark cloud. Meanwhile, the clues they held regarding the treasure that held the key to stopping the mysterious forces' conspiracy kept them from letting their guard down for even a moment.

Before long, everyone slowly opened their eyes, looked at each other, and their eyes were filled with determination. Jun Luochuan broke the silence first, "We can't stay here any longer. The mysterious forces may detect our actions at any time. We must find a way to deal with this by following the clues to the treasure as soon as possible."

Su Yao stood up, dusted herself off, and a resolute glint flashed in her eyes. "That's right, no matter how many difficulties and obstacles lie ahead, we must forge ahead."

Nightshade gently stroked the longsword in his hand, its blade reflecting a cool light that accentuated his stern face. "I am ready to face any challenge."

Ling Shuang nodded slightly, her expression aloof. "Wherever the clues point, that's where we'll follow them."

Based on the clues they obtained in the palace, the four deduced that the next possible location was an ancient tower deep within a mysterious land. It was said that the tower held the key to unlocking the secrets of the Dark Artifact, which was at the heart of a mysterious force's conspiracy.

They followed a winding path, the surrounding scenery growing increasingly desolate. The ground was cracked, with huge fissures like gruesome scars, as if the land had suffered terrible trauma. In the sky, thick, leaden clouds pressed down, and occasional muffled thunderclaps echoed, like the low roar of this barren land.

"This place feels eerie, it gives me the creeps," Su Yao couldn't help but say, unconsciously moving closer to Jun Luochuan, her eyes warily scanning the surroundings.

Jun Luochuan frowned slightly. "Everyone, be on high alert. The environment here is so harsh; there must be many hidden dangers."

Before he could finish speaking, a gust of wind howled past, carrying sharp sand and stones that hurtled towards them like projectiles. Jun Luochuan swiftly cast a defensive spell, and a transparent spiritual energy shield instantly formed around them, blocking the impact of the sand and stones. However, the power of the wind was beyond imagination, and the shield rippled under the constant impact of the sand and stones.

"The wind is too strong, we need to find somewhere to take shelter!" Nightshade shouted, his voice muffled by the gale.

Jun Luochuan looked around and spotted a huge rock not far away. "Let's go behind that rock!"

Braving the fierce wind, the four struggled to run towards the rocks. Just as they were about to reach them, the ground suddenly shook violently, and a giant sand worm burst forth from the earth. The sand worm was enormous, tens of meters long, its body covered with hard scales, its huge compound eyes gleaming with a bloodthirsty light, and its gaping maw like a black hole, emitting a nauseating stench.

"It's a sandworm! Watch out for its attack!" Jun Luochuan shouted, quickly drawing his sword. A flash of light appeared on the sword, and a sword aura slashed towards the sandworm. The sword aura struck the sandworm's scales, sending sparks flying, but the sandworm seemed largely unaffected. It twisted its massive body and lunged at the group.

Nightshade flashed forward like a black lightning bolt, hurtling towards the sandworm. He unleashed the Starry Sky-Splitting Sword Technique, his sword light blazing, countless sword energies crisscrossing and shooting towards the sandworm's eyes. Sensing the threat, the sandworm violently shook its head, dodging Nightshade's attack, while simultaneously spitting a mouthful of black slime towards him.

Seeing this, Su Yao quickly formed hand seals, casting a spell that fused light spiritual power with fire element. Balls of flame carrying purifying power shot towards the black slime. The flames collided with the slime, making a "sizzling" sound, and the slime gradually dissipated under the purification of the flames.

Ling Shuang closed her eyes tightly, a dense blue light emanating from her body as she unleashed her full power of the Spirit Illusion Technique. Strands of spiritual energy spread out like threads, attempting to disrupt the sand worm's mind. Under the influence of the Spirit Illusion Technique, the sand worm's movements slowed, and a hint of confusion flashed in its eyes.

Seizing the opportunity, Jun Luochuan flashed to the side of the sand worm. He concentrated all his spiritual power into his sword, causing it to shine brightly. A dazzling sword aura slashed towards the sand worm's abdomen. The sword aura cut into the sand worm's body like a sharp blade, and the sand worm let out a shrill scream, its body twisting violently.

However, the sandworm was extremely resilient. Ignoring its abdominal wound, it charged at the group again. Ye Ying and Jun Luochuan quickly retreated and rejoined Su Yao and Ling Shuang.

"These sandworms are too difficult to deal with; we need to think of a better way," Su Yao said, her forehead already covered in sweat.

Jun Luochuan watched the sandworm warily while quickly devising a strategy. He observed that before each attack, the sandworm's antennae would tremble slightly, as if it were sensing its surroundings. "Night Shadow, when the sandworm attacks, use your sword energy to attack its antennae and disrupt its perception. Su Yao, use a spell that combines light spiritual power and lightning element to attack its abdominal wound and worsen the injury. Ling Shuang, continue to use illusion magic to disrupt its movements. I'll seize the opportunity to deliver the fatal blow."

Everyone nodded quickly, preparing for battle according to Jun Luochuan's plan. The sandworm roared again and charged towards them. Night Shadow struck first, unleashing a sword aura imbued with the power of stars towards the sandworm's tentacles. The sword aura struck the tentacles accurately, severing them instantly, and the sandworm's movements became somewhat chaotic.

Seizing the opportunity, Su Yao swiftly formed hand seals, unleashing a spell that fused light spiritual power with lightning element. A thick bolt of lightning shot from her hands, striking the sand worm's wound on its abdomen. The sand worm convulsed upon being struck, its wound worsening.

Ling Shuang intensified her illusionary magic, plunging the entire space into a hazy, dreamlike mist. The sandworms lost their way in the mist, their attacks becoming chaotic and disorganized.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Jun Luochuan flashed forward like a streak of light towards the sand worm. He concentrated all his spiritual power into his sword, causing it to shine brightly, and a powerful sword aura slashed towards the sand worm's neck. This sword strike contained all of Jun Luochuan's power, and the sword aura cut into the sand worm's neck like a sharp blade. The sand worm let out a deafening scream, and its body crashed to the ground, raising a cloud of dust.

"Phew, finally solved." Nightshade wiped the sweat from his forehead, a relieved smile on his face.

"Is everyone alright?" Jun Luochuan asked with concern.

Everyone confirmed they were unharmed. The fierce battle had greatly depleted their spiritual energy, but they knew the difficulties and dangers ahead were far from over.

The four continued their journey, and as they traversed a dense, black forest, they discovered an eerie fog permeating the air. The fog was thick, reducing visibility to almost nothing, as if pairs of eyes were watching them from the darkness.

"This fog is strange, everyone be careful and don't get separated," Jun Luochuan said. He circulated his spiritual power to form a weak spiritual energy shield around everyone in case of any unforeseen circumstances.

The four people cautiously made their way through the forest when suddenly, a sinister laugh echoed from the mist. The laughter reverberated through the forest, sending chills down their spines.

"Who is it? Show yourself!" Jun Luochuan shouted, gripping his sword tightly and warily surveying his surroundings.

However, all that answered him was a sinister laugh. Immediately afterward, a group of ethereal black figures emerged from the mist, rapidly approaching them. These figures were elusive, wielding weapons that emitted a ghostly glow, their eyes filled with chilling killing intent.

"It's Shadow Assassins! Everyone be careful, their attack speed is extremely fast, and they are skilled at concealing themselves!" Ling Shuang shouted, while quickly casting a psychic spell. A faint blue light emanated from her body, spreading rapidly like threads, creating numerous afterimages among the Shadow Assassins. The Shadow Assassins were immediately thrown into chaos, their attack rhythm disrupted, and they collided and shoved each other.

Nightshade flashed, like a black lightning bolt plunging into the horde of shadow assassins. He unleashed the Starry Sky-Splitting Sword Technique, his sword light blazing, streaks of sword energy crisscrossing like shooting stars. Wherever the sword energy touched, the shadow assassins vanished, turning into wisps of black smoke.

Su Yao swiftly formed hand seals, casting a spell that fused light spiritual power with water elemental power. Streams of water imbued with purifying power shot from her hands, heading towards the shadow assassin. The water struck the shadow assassin, who let out cries of pain as the dark aura around him gradually dissipated under the purification of the water.

Jun Luochuan, sword in hand, stood in the center of the crowd, vigilantly observing the battlefield. Seizing his opportunity, he swung his sword, unleashing a powerful sword aura that slashed towards the center of the shadow assassins. The sword aura, like a giant blade, scattered the surrounding shadow assassins.

However, the number of Shadow Assassins seemed endless, surging out of the mist wave after wave. Jun Luochuan frowned, quickly analyzing the situation. "This can't go on. We need to find the source of these Shadow Assassins and cut off their flow."

As Nightshade brandished his longsword, he shouted, "I sense a powerful dark force deep within the fog; it might be the key!"

Upon hearing this, Jun Luochuan's eyes sharpened. "Night Shadow, you and Ling Shuang continue to hold off the Shadow Assassins. Su Yao, you use your light spiritual power to assist them. I'll go and destroy the source of that dark power."

With that, Jun Luochuan flashed forward, rushing into the depths of the mist. He dodged and weaved through the shadow assassins' attacks, his sword flashing as he repelled each approaching assassin. Finally, he arrived at the source of the dark power.

A massive black crystal stood there, radiating an eerie light, its surface flowing with mysterious runes, seemingly the source of the shadow assassins' presence. Without hesitation, Jun Luochuan raised his sword high and then slashed down fiercely. A dazzling sword aura struck the black crystal, which emitted a piercing shriek, its light flickering erratically.

"Shatter!" Jun Luochuan roared, channeling his spiritual power once more to amplify the sword energy. With a deafening crash, the black crystal finally shattered, scattering countless fragments across the ground.

Without the power of the black crystal, the Shadow Assassins instantly lost their ability to move and vanished into thin air.

"Phew, finally it's resolved." Jun Luochuan breathed a sigh of relief and returned to the group.

"Jun Luochuan, are you alright?" Su Yao asked with concern, her eyes full of worry.

Jun Luochuan shook his head slightly, revealing a reassuring smile. "I'm fine, everyone has worked hard."

The four continued their journey through the forest, and after a long trek, they finally emerged from the eerie woods. However, the scene before them weighed heavily on their hearts once more.

A massive canyon stretched out before them, its bottomless depths and sheer cliffs on either side. A thick layer of black mist hung in the air, from which came faint, low roars, as if some powerful creature were slumbering.

"This canyon looks so dangerous, how are we going to get across?" Su Yao looked at the canyon, her brows furrowed.

Jun Luochuan observed the canyon and noticed an ancient stone bridge above it. The bridge was constructed of massive black stones, covered in moss and vines, and looked precarious.

“We’ll cross over via the stone bridge, but be careful, it might be unstable,” Jun Luochuan said.

The four carefully stepped onto the stone bridge, but after only a few steps, the bridge suddenly began to shake violently. Then, the vines on both sides of the bridge suddenly came to life, like giant pythons, and coiled around them.

"Watch out for the vines!" Jun Luochuan shouted, swiftly swinging his sword to sever the approaching vines. Ye Ying also drew her longsword, joining Jun Luochuan in defending against the vines' attacks. Su Yao used her light-based spiritual power to try and weaken the vines, slowing their attacks. Ling Shuang, on the other hand, used her illusionary magic to try and disrupt the vines' movements, hoping to avert the crisis.

However, the vines continued to surge forth, growing ever stronger. Jun Luochuan frowned, pondering a countermeasure. Suddenly, he noticed that the vines seemed particularly sensitive to certain fluctuations of spiritual energy; whenever they cast specific spells, the vines would briefly slow down.

"Listen up, everyone. We'll cast our spells in a specific order to disrupt their movements. Nightshade, you'll first unleash the strongest strike of the Starry Sky Rift Sword Technique to attract their attention; Su Yao, then follow up with a spell that combines light spiritual power with lightning element to paralyze them with the power of lightning; Ling Shuang, you'll use the Illusion Technique to create chaos while they're paralyzed; and I'll take the opportunity to sever the roots of the vines," Jun Luochuan said quickly.

Everyone quickly followed Jun Luochuan's instructions. Ye Ying took a deep breath and unleashed the strongest move of the Starry Sky Rift Sword Technique, a sword aura imbued with the power of stars shooting towards the vines. The sword aura streaked across the sky like a shooting star, and the vines surged towards its direction.

Seizing the opportunity, Su Yao swiftly formed hand seals, unleashing a spell that fused light spiritual power with lightning element. A thick bolt of lightning shot from her hands, striking a group of vines. The vines, struck by the lightning, trembled and their movements became sluggish.

Ling Shuang immediately used her illusionary magic to create numerous phantoms, throwing the vines into chaos. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Jun Luochuan flashed to the roots of the vines, swung his sword, and severed the roots.

As the roots of the vines were severed, the other vines gradually lost their vitality and fell off. The four continued to carefully cross the stone bridge and finally succeeded in crossing the canyon.

They knew that the path to finding the treasure was fraught with difficulties and dangers, but they would persevere in their efforts to stop the mysterious forces' plot, no matter what lay ahead.
