Under the moonlight

Chapter 87 The First Meeting of the Two

Zhao Meng arrived at the Commodity Inspection Department alone with the documents. Xu Ao stood on the second-floor corridor, looking down at him.

This person, in both posture and manner, was unlike an ordinary person; he seemed more like someone who had received training. Xu Ao raised his wrist to check the time, then stepped down.

"Hello, Xu Ao." Zhao Meng greeted Xu Ao, who was slowly approaching, with his usual cold expression.

"Hello, Zhao Meng." Unlike Zhao Meng's cold face, Xu Ao had a slight smile, but it was a forced smile.

"These are the materials we've prepared. We hope you'll take a careful look at them," Zhao Meng said, emphasizing each word as he looked at Xu Ao.

“If there are no problems, we naturally won’t make things difficult for you,” Xu Ao said with a smile, showing no fear of him.

Xu Ao took the documents from Zhao Meng and noticed a long scar on his arm. He handed the documents to his colleague without making a sound and then invited Zhao Meng to the meeting room.

"Say what you have to say quickly, I'm in a hurry," Zhao Meng said coldly. He was unaware that Huang Meng and Xu Ao had discussed the past.

"You're Huang Meng's high school classmate, right?" Xu Ao said, his sharp gaze fixed on Zhao Meng through his glasses.

"How did you know?" Zhao Meng only frowned slightly before quickly returning to normal.

"She told me." When Zhao Meng heard him say that, he looked at Xu Ao with a more scrutinizing gaze, while Xu Ao still wore that fake smile.

Zhao Meng scoffed and said, "Hmph, can you please stop with that fake smile? It's giving me goosebumps."

“Okay, but once we leave this workplace, where there are surveillance cameras, we encourage smiling service.” After saying that, Xu Ao forced a fake smile at Zhao Meng.

A short while later, someone came over with the seal of the Commodity Inspection Department and an inspection certificate. Sure enough, when they saw Xu Ao smiling at Zhao Meng, they knew that this person must have some connection with him. Otherwise, for pharmaceutical products, they would almost never be released without staying here for two or three days. Of course, it wasn't that they were deliberately making things difficult, but these kinds of products were special, and they were being exported abroad under one person's name after purchasing them, so they had to be careful.

"Team leader." The man handed the seal and certificate to Xu Ao. Xu Ao glanced at them, stamped the seal, and signed his name.

"Okay, that way your friend's stuff can get through customs first thing tomorrow morning." Xu Ao smiled and nodded at him. After he left, Zhao Meng looked at Xu Ao and asked, "What, my stuff is perfectly legitimate, do I need to go through back channels?" Zhao Meng wasn't unaware of what the man meant.

"Hehe, if it weren't for the fact that your goods are exported to S country and need to be left here for ten days or half a month, I wouldn't have stamped them." Xu Ao said, raising an eyebrow at Zhao Meng.

"Hmph," Zhao Meng said dismissively, then turned and walked out.

"Huang Meng, don't even think about making a move on her." Zhao Meng had just turned around when he heard Xu Ao say casually behind him.

Zhao Meng originally did not want to talk about Huang Meng in this place. Moreover, he was still a little timid. After all, she was already with him. Even if he wanted to try to win her over, he couldn't say it out loud.

“Since you brought it up first, I’ll be direct. I’ve known her longer than you have. I have a vivid memory of what she looked like in her youth. We’ve missed each other time and time again, but this time, I won’t let her slip through my fingers again.” Zhao Meng said as he walked toward Xu Ao, each step he took demonstrating his determination.

Only when Zhao Meng's face was close to his did Xu Ao slowly raise his head. Unlike Zhao Meng's serious expression, Xu Ao chuckled and said, "There is no first come, first served in love, so I won't use these useless arguments to shut you down. But I bet she won't fall in love with you. Maybe she did have some feelings for you back then, but that was just a result of hormones when she was young and naive. How can you be sure that she would still like you now?"

Xu Ao's analysis was exactly what Zhao Meng had been worried about. He was also unsure how she viewed him after all these years of missed opportunities.

"Don't worry about me, mind your own business." Zhao Meng was displeased that this had hit a nerve, and left coldly with those words.

Xu Ao's originally smiling face gradually turned cold. He could see through her, but he dared not make a judgment on their relationship. Who could know whose heart she truly belonged to?
