Under the moonlight

Chapter 81 Finally in His Arms

Zhao Meng hadn't expected her to cry. Seeing her with tears in her eyes, he panicked for a moment. He gently held her shoulders and said softly, "Just do what you think is right."

He then tentatively moved closer to her, and seeing that she did not resist, he pulled her into his arms.

The feeling is like finally finding the doll you lost. When you finally find it again, the satisfaction and happiness of holding it in your arms fills your entire being.

“Although I don’t know why you’re crying, it’s always right to follow your heart.” She seemed to calm down in his arms. Zhao Meng loosened his grip on her a little and looked at her reddened nose as he spoke softly.

"Okay, okay," Huang Meng said softly. Smelling the faint tobacco scent on him, Huang Meng realized that she was being held in his arms, but he seemed to be very careful and did not make any extra movements.

Huang Meng didn't dare look up at him. She took a few steps back, left his embrace, and said with her head down, "Let's go." Then she turned and walked out first. Li Han had already returned to her office; she still had a lot of things to do.

Zhao Mengxia looked at his empty arms, then at the arms that had just been holding her, and clenched his fists tightly. Hmm, they felt so soft when he held her.

She spent the morning working with Liang Yuanyuan at the company. Around noon, Chen Zhi sent her a message: "How about it? When are you free?" She remembered that she had promised Chen Zhi yesterday that she would have lunch with him, and she had also invited Zhao Meng along.

"Well, Chen Zhi asked me when we were going to visit him. He said he's available anytime, it just depends on us..."

"Just a moment, I have some documents here that I need to double-check. Please wait two minutes." Zhao Meng was in the conference room when he interrupted Huang Meng before she could finish speaking, waving the documents in his hand at her.

Huang Meng glanced at the time and realized it was time to leave work, so she packed up her things and waited at the company entrance.

"Let's go." A moment later, Zhao Meng came out. He naturally took Huang Meng's arm and led her to the passenger door. He opened the door, watched her get in, and then closed the door behind him.

Huang Meng only realized after getting into the car that it was after get off work hours and there were quite a few colleagues coming and going. She was pulled into his car by him.

Huang Meng glanced at her colleagues outside the car window. Sure enough, they were oblivious to everything else during work hours. Now that she had finished work and was getting into their boss's car, they couldn't contain their curiosity and looked at the car.

Even though they couldn't see inside, Huang Meng still felt her ears burning.

"Isn't this a bad idea?" Zhao Meng fastened his seatbelt and was about to start the car when he heard Huang Meng say in a muffled voice beside him.

"What's wrong with it?" Zhao Meng asked, looking at her innocently.

Seeing his composed expression, Huang Meng turned her head away and gave an awkward laugh, then fell silent. She realized she had been overthinking things!

"By the way, I didn't have time to ask you earlier, why were you crying?" Zhao Meng asked Huang Meng while driving.

"There are some things I might tell you that you won't believe," Huang Meng said mysteriously, looking at him.

"Heh~ What's so mysterious?" Zhao Meng looked at her blinking and pretending to be mysterious, and found it amusing, so he cooperated and asked seriously.

“I was there when the riots broke out in S country.” After Huang Meng finished speaking, she looked at Zhao Meng, thinking he would be very surprised, but to her surprise, he calmly said, “Yes, that’s why you have a different feeling for that country.”

"How did you know!" His words surprised her.

"I feel like you always care a lot about their country. You cried because I told you there was a plague there, right?" Zhao Meng looked at Huang Meng.

"Yes, that's why. I'm worried about someone I know, whose family helped me before." Huang Meng's voice gradually lowered as she spoke. Zhao Meng looked at her with her head down and a worried expression on her face.

"Although the plague spreads quickly, as long as it is controlled in time and isolation and protection are done well, there shouldn't be a big problem." Zhao Meng didn't know what the situation was like where they were, but he couldn't bear to see her so down, so he could only comfort her like this.

"Well, that would be best." However, his words of comfort were clearly not very effective. After all, this kind of plague caused by piles of corpses spreads incredibly fast, and the virus even permeates the air, something Huang Meng was well aware of.

Zhao Meng watched her gaze out the car window and remained silent. However, he still wanted to ask her what had happened in S country when he had the chance. He was shocked to hear her say that she was there during the riots, because he had been there too.
