Under the moonlight

Chapter 71 Evokes Memories

After all, those most heartwarming days couldn't have been without them.

On the first day of school, Huang Meng told herself that she must not be as shy as she was in elementary school, but be brave, generous, and make good friends.

But reality always loves to play tricks on people. She boldly expressed herself, and the other person was very enthusiastic. She felt that making friends wasn't so difficult after all.

Later, she always spent time with her two new friends, even going to the bathroom together. They would also hide away and gossip during free time in PE class. At this point, she still didn't realize that there was anything wrong with the friends she had made.

Until one day, one of her friends saw Chen Xinxin and her friends playing around in class and had a look of disdain and contempt on her face. Huang Meng looked at them and saw about four or five girls laughing loudly and oblivious to others. She was even a little curious about what kind of fun things were that made them so happy.

Unlike her curiosity about that small group, her new friend seemed to dislike them. One evening, Huang Meng and her new friend were doing their duty when they happened to run into one of the girls in that small group. Huang Meng remembered that her name was Peng Qiang and that she was petite.

Huang Meng brought a mop but couldn't find her friend, so she stood on the second floor looking around. She saw her new friends surrounding the girl. She quickly went downstairs and over there, only to hear her friends saying things that were derogatory and mocking, obviously directed at the girl in the middle.

She seemed a little scared, after all, she was alone. When she saw Huang Meng coming over, the despair in her eyes increased. Huang Meng often went out with them, so why would she help her?

Sure enough, as soon as Huang Meng stood up, she heard her new friend say to her, "You've come at the right time. She was talking about me just now. Help me scold her back!"

"I didn't! You started it by saying that about me, and now you won't let me leave!"

The girl almost burst into tears. After all, Huang Meng's new friend was tall and strong. As she spoke, she glanced around, but there was no one else around except for them.

Huang Meng clearly saw the fear in Peng Qiang's eyes.

She actually instilled fear in others, which was not her original intention in making friends! What did she and her new friends do to make other girls find them scary?

Her new friend was still urging Huang Meng to speak, to say things that would frighten the girl even more, seemingly pleased to see her terror. Huang Meng looked at her new friend, grinning, and looked at Peng Qiang with the eyes of a cat teasing a mouse.

"You'd better hurry up and leave, or there won't be any more buses."

Huang Meng spoke to the girl, stepping aside to make way for her. She watched as the girl looked at her in disbelief, then eagerly ran past her, shrugging her shoulders.

She didn't want to be someone who would scare others; she just wanted to make some new friends. But, she didn't want friends like that!

Peng Qiang left smoothly, but Huang Meng was met with condemnation from her new friend, who called her a traitor.

Huang Meng didn't explain; she simply finished her chores silently and went home quietly. The next day, on her way to school, she ran into one of her elementary school classmates; they were still in the same class.

She asked the girl a question: Do you think there's anything different about me now that I'm in middle school?

The girl said a lot, but Huang Meng only remembered one sentence: "I feel that you have become more capable than before after you went to middle school. With Zhou Meng and Yang Li by your side, it feels like you are not afraid of anything!"

Zhou Meng and Yang Li were her new friends. Huang Meng thought about it carefully and realized that she seemed to have only focused on making friends, but forgot that friends can be good or bad. During the few weeks she spent with them, Huang Meng was indeed too engrossed and forgot to examine herself.

Huang Meng stopped associating with the two of them after that, and was labeled a traitor by Zhou Meng and Yang Li. They even made veiled accusations against her in front of many classmates.

The classmates who didn't know the truth were watching it like a joke. However, Huang Meng didn't care about their little tricks because she knew what kind of friends she needed. Even if she didn't have any friends, she couldn't just make friends indiscriminately.

Just as Zhou Meng and Yang Li were repeating their boring game, Huang Meng pulled a cardboard box from the drawer. The rough, sturdy box was covered with Chinese blessings. Opening the box, she saw that the lid was covered with names. She looked at each one and saw that it belonged to the small group that Peng Qiang was close to.

Huang Meng suddenly looked up at them. Several girls were smiling at her, and Peng Qiang even winked at her. It was them. Huang Meng picked up the gift and waved it at them. Chen Xinxin said to her, "How is it? Do you like it?"

It's just a very common ceramic piggy bank, but it's still on Huang Meng's desk. It's not just an ordinary gift, but a testament to her growth during her youth and a testament to her friendship!
