Transcending the Magic Era: The Supreme Female Archmage

Chapter 88 Clash in the Camp, Disrupting the Plan

Auster watched as Onanxi and Yue Haoran chatted happily, then suddenly spoke up, his tone somewhat nonchalant.

"Third sister, your eldest brother has a mission that requires your team's help!"

O'Nanxi paused slightly, looking at Auster with some surprise.

"Oh? Is there something else we can help you with, brother? Tell me, what is it?"

Auster smiled slightly, his tone calm yet carrying a hint of something unfathomable.

"Here's the thing, the team I have the most faith in in the First War Zone has recently run into some trouble. I'd like to ask you and your teammates to go and take a look, and while you're at it, keep an eye on their situation for me. If they recover, you can spar with each other and also help me test their strength."

He paused, glancing at Yue Haoran with a seemingly casual look, and continued, "There's nothing urgent here in the Third War Zone for the time being. You don't need to rush back once you've gone."

As Ao Nanxi listened, his brows furrowed slightly, as if he realized something was amiss, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it, so he could only softly agree.

"Okay, then I'll arrange the team's schedule."

A smile flashed in Auster's eyes, then he seemed to suddenly remember something, and slapped his forehead as if he had just realized something, his tone lazy yet deliberate.

"Look at my memory, I forgot to tell you their team's name." He said, his speech suddenly slowing down, almost word by word, his gaze fixed on Yue Haoran.

"The name of that team is—the Six Six Great Success Team."

The words had barely left his lips when Yue Haoran's face tightened instantly, his previously composed demeanor nearly crumbling. He struggled to maintain his composure, but a shadow of gloom flashed across his eyes, and he felt as if he had been stabbed. Inwardly, he almost couldn't help but curse, "This wretched child… this wretched child! What on earth does he want?!"

When Ao Nanxi heard the name "Six Six Great Success Team", he paused slightly, his eyebrows unconsciously raised slightly, and a hint of surprise flashed across his face.

She knew that name all too well—it was the first time she was in the Central Magic Tower, this team had dared to challenge her to her face. That brief encounter was still fresh in her memory, and one of the few times she had ever been "frustrated."

However, later on, this team gained fame and even became famous for developing a mental power training device, which made the entire empire look at them with new respect.

All of this led to a change in Ao Nanxi's attitude. Although it didn't completely change his mind, he did acknowledge their strength and abilities to some extent.

However, upon hearing that they had actually "run into trouble," Ao Nanxi couldn't help but feel a bit doubtful and puzzled. "Weren't they always supposed to be quite strong?"

She thought to herself, "They can even make something like a mental training device. The veterans in the war zone should be very grateful to them. What problems could possibly arise?"

She slightly composed herself, her eyes revealing a hint of inquiry as she tentatively looked at Auster.

"Brother, what exactly went wrong with the Six-Six Great Fortune Team? Shouldn't they be quite popular in the First War Zone? How could it be so serious that I need to go there in person?"

Auster slowly said, "Well, I heard he got into a fight and violated military law, so he was flogged! That's why I was thinking, Third Sister, you should go and see him on behalf of the royal family! After all, he's a rare talent, so he deserves some special treatment, right?"

After listening, Ao Nanxi seemed to understand something and nodded.

“Brother is right, they are worth a trip for me. I haven’t seen them since the academy tournament ended. I’m actually quite curious about how much their strength has improved. Even you think highly of them, Brother, so I really can’t miss this trip.”

Seeing this, Yue Haoran felt a surge of anger, but he still suppressed his displeasure and made a suggestion with a smile.

"Nanxi, why don't you let your second brother go with you? This will not only prove the royal family's high regard for them, but also give them a chance to learn from General Jimo's experience and broaden their horizons."

Upon hearing this, Auster's lips curled slightly, his eyes filled with a hint of mockery and nonchalance. He slowly said, "Grandfather, I'm afraid this is inappropriate. My second brother is a general in the Third War Zone. It's his duty, and he can't easily abandon his post. Otherwise, even if he were a prince, he would have to be dealt with according to military law, wouldn't you say, second brother?" As he spoke, he turned to look at Oscheng beside him, his tone carrying a hint of cold mockery.

Oscheng was caught off guard by being called out by name and was momentarily stunned. Seeing his grandfather's increasingly grim expression and his elder brother's amused look, he could only smile wryly and speak.

"Yes...yes, eldest brother is right. I am a general in the army, and I must not leave my post without permission...so...so let third sister go and take a look..." As he finished speaking, Oscheng's voice grew softer and softer, afraid of provoking his grandfather's anger even more.

Ao Nanxi, who was standing to the side, clearly sensed that something was wrong and quickly stepped in to smooth things over. She walked over to Yue Haoran, took his hand, and acted coquettishly.

"Grandpa, I can go! They're just a slightly skilled rookie team. If even Second Brother goes, wouldn't that be giving them too much credit?"

Yue Haoran looked down at Ao Nanxi, who had a "well-behaved" expression, but inside he was so angry he felt like vomiting blood. He forced a calm expression, but his face was as stiff as a stone. His eyes twitched slightly, and even the veins on the back of his hands were faintly visible. In his heart, he was screaming, "What's the use of you going! Your second brother would be more useful! Can't you see that?!"

However, he gritted his teeth and suppressed his anger, trying his best to make his tone sound calm.

"In that case, let Nanxi go. But remember, once you get there, don't just focus on sparring; try to get along well with them."

His voice was deep and powerful, with a hint of unquestionable authority in his words, but Ao Nanxi seemed completely oblivious to the deeper meaning behind his words, and instead showed a bright smile.

"Okay, okay, Grandpa, don't worry, I'll definitely get along well with them! But to be honest, I'm really looking forward to seeing them. We weren't in the same grade in the academy competition before, so we never had a chance to play against each other. This time, I'll finally get to see just how good they are."

After speaking, she blinked, her face innocent and naive, yet revealing a hint of excitement. It was as if Yue Haoran's restrained expression and the complex meaning behind the entire conversation were nothing more than trivial matters to her.

Auster, who had been watching the whole scene from the side, had a slight smile on his lips and a hint of amusement in his eyes. He slowly picked up his teacup, took a small sip, and spoke with a half-smile.

“Third sister is indeed the most suitable candidate. Grandfather, you don’t need to worry. Nanxi has always been sensible. Haven’t you always trusted her?”

His words were gentle, seemingly speaking up for Ao Nanxi, but the subtle sarcasm in his words only made Yue Haoran's expression even more unpleasant.

"Aust... what exactly are you up to?" Yue Haoran stared intently at Auster, his anger barely contained.

He knew very well that he must not lose his composure at this moment, otherwise he would be given a handle to use against him. But the more he restrained himself, the more intense and turbulent his anger became, almost without an outlet.

Auster seemed to see right through his restraint and resentment. As if deliberately teasing him, he glanced at Yue Haoran's slightly pale face and his smile grew even stronger.

He slowly put down his teacup, his movements elegant and composed. He raised an eyebrow and glanced at Yue Haoran with a half-smile, his expression silently telling him, "I want to see you holding your breath, helpless and frustrated."

Standing to the side, Oscheng felt a cold sweat break out on his back from this silent "confrontation." He could see clearly that the undercurrent between his grandfather and his elder brother had reached a fever pitch. Unfortunately, he couldn't afford to offend either side, nor could he get a word in edgewise, so he could only pretend not to see anything and obediently shrink into the corner, as quiet as a chicken.
