Luo Wei's assistant strode into the lounge and greeted Ji Yan, who was sitting on the sofa, with a smile: "Mr. Ji, it's been a long time."

"I didn't expect you to agree to our request in the end. It's quite a surprise." A hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, followed by a smug smile.

He believed that Ji Yan was simply regretting his decision and now wanted to make money from it. After all, the advertisement he was asked to film was for a brand-new product recently launched by their company, something that others would kill for.

If it weren't for President Luo's daughter wanting to shoot an advertisement, Ji Yan wouldn't have had the chance to receive this offer.

Ji Yan smiled faintly and said, "It is my honor to have gained President Luo's appreciation."

"Does Mr. Luo have some time now?" Xu Zhi asked, stepping forward.

"President Luo will finish the meeting in about three minutes. Please follow me," the assistant said, leading the way.

Ji Yan stood up, straightened his collar, and strode over to him.

A little while later, they took the elevator to Luo Wei's office, just as Luo Wei came out after finishing a meeting with some shareholders.

Upon seeing Ji Yan, Luo Wei smiled and said, "Mr. Ji, have you been waiting long?"

Ji Yan nodded and smiled politely, stepped forward and extended his hand: "I just arrived a little while ago. Hello, Mr. Luo, I've heard so much about you."

Luo Wei also stepped forward and shook hands with Ji Yan.

“Then let’s go inside and talk first, please,” Luo Wei released his hand, gesturing for Ji Yan to enter the office.

Luo Wei's assistant walked ahead and opened the door for them.

Luo Wei paused at the door, then turned sideways and said, "I don't like others to be around when I'm discussing business. You can wait outside."

Luo Wei's assistant bowed and nodded, then turned to Xu Zhi and said, "Mr. Xu, please let Mr. Ji and President Luo talk inside. I'll take you to the lounge next door."

Xu Zhi glanced at Ji Yan, hesitated for two seconds, then nodded and followed him.

They went into the office.

"Mr. Ji, would you like something to drink? I like tea, would you like a cup?" Luo Wei said to Ji Yan while brewing tea.

Ji Yan shook his head, his voice clear and unreadable: "No need, President Luo, let's talk about business."

He didn't want to be too polite with Luo Wei.

Luo Wei nodded, holding his teacup, then sat down in his office chair: "Okay, I like straightforward young people like you."

"Mr. Ji, please have a seat. I hear you have another request."

Luo Wei leaned back in his chair, his face seemingly kind, but he looked somewhat intimidating.

Ji Yan pulled out a chair and sat down. He smiled and said slowly, "Yes, President Luo should be able to guess that's why I agreed to your request."

“Okay, you tell me first,” Luo Wei replied.

“I want a storefront in Zone A of Dongcheng,” he said in a deep voice, his face expressionless.

This answer surprised Luo Wei. He then pondered for a few seconds: "You agreed to this because of that woman named Qiao Jiawei?"

Ji Yan looked at Luo Wei, his eyes flickered slightly, and then he slowly said, "I think this request shouldn't be difficult for President Luo. I've long heard that President Luo dotes on his daughter. Whether it's opening a store or asking me to shoot an advertisement, it's all for your daughter's sake, isn't it?"

"That's right. I've heard from my assistant that Miss Qiao has talked to my subordinates several times about wanting a store there. She also came to me later, but I politely declined because my daughter recently wants to open a dance studio there."

Luo Wei took a couple of unhurried sips of his tea and continued, "If Mr. Ji really needs it, I can agree to sell the shop to Miss Qiao, but I hope you can accommodate my daughter's later requests."

Luo Wei smiled and stared at Ji Yan.

Ji Yan's gaze darkened slightly, his thin lips pursed, and he slowly said, "As long as it's not an unreasonable request, I can fulfill it."

Luo Wei laughed heartily: "Of course, don't worry, my daughter has a cheerful personality that's definitely not like ordinary women. She knows her place."

"In that case, let's arrange a time for you and my daughter to meet. We can discuss the work arrangements and you can get to know each other beforehand. I'll have my assistant send you the specific shooting schedule and some details later," Luo Wei said casually.

Ji Yan nodded and replied, "Okay, Mr. Luo, please make the arrangements."

……

Back in the car, Ji Yan leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes to rest.

Sitting in the front, Xu Zhi, who was driving, would occasionally glance at Ji Yan sitting in the back, looking as if he wanted to say something but hesitated.

"Just say what you want to say," Ji Yan suddenly opened his eyes and said calmly.

Xu Zhi hesitated for a moment before asking, "Brother Yan, aren't you going to tell Miss Qiao?"

Ji Yan rubbed his temples and said casually, "What's there to say?"

"I know you're afraid that Miss Qiao will feel bad if she finds out, or that she'll feel indebted to you, but Brother Yan, isn't this sacrifice a bit too much?" Xu Zhi's tone was somewhat anxious.

"You've had so many advertising offers come your way, and you've turned them all down. You've been in the industry for almost three years and haven't filmed a single commercial. This time, you're breaking your principles just to help Ms. Qiao."

Ji Yan turned his head to look out the window, a hint of unreadable emotion in his eyes, and remained silent.

Xu Zhi continued driving, talking to himself, "Whether it's now or in the past, you've done so much for Miss Qiao without ever realizing it. Since you like her so much, you should just tell her directly. Why do you have to bear all this alone?"

Ji Yan sighed, shook his head helplessly, and said in a deep voice, "You don't understand. I don't want my kindness to her to become a constraint. Even if we're just ordinary friends, I will still help her."

"Besides... she doesn't have a place for me in her heart." A hint of sadness flashed in his eyes, then he lowered his gaze and fell silent.

He could clearly sense that Qiao Jiawei only considered him a close friend, or perhaps not a particularly close one.

He knew Qiao Jiawei before he knew her, but after Cheng Qi appeared, Qiao Jiawei's heart was always with him.

He always felt that even if Qiao Jiawei didn't like him or have any other thoughts, he was still her good friend.

But gradually, he stopped being her first listener, whereas he had always been the first person Qiao Jiawei told. It was the first time he had ever seen Qiao Jiawei like someone so much.

Qiao Jiawei's care and concern for Cheng Qi exceeded his expectations, and her persistence towards him was such that even after Cheng Qi rejected her to her face, she still firmly believed that she could win him over.

So he didn't want to compare himself with others.

He didn't want to continue like this any longer; he knew clearly that there was no possibility between him and Qiao Jiawei.
