Chapter 208 Midterm Exam Begins

A few days later, the midterm exams arrived.

Lu Renkui yawned as he rushed to Ying Meihua's classroom early in the morning—there were still two hours before the exam, the first subject being Chinese, and he would have to memorize some ancient poems.

Lu Renkui was reciting "The Song of the Pipa" when he was too sleepy. He kept going and started reciting "A Farewell to Tianmu Mountain in a Dream".

Lu Changge, who was reciting his lesson, noticed something was wrong halfway through. He then realized that "Ying Meihua" was mispronouncing "Ying Meihua" because her eyes were almost squinting.

"Wake up, wake up, you've memorized it wrong." Lu Changge shook "Ying Meihua" to wake her up.

Forced to wake up, Lu Renkui let out a huge yawn, nearly dislocating her jaw. She then took a sip of the jasmine tea she had brewed that morning.

In the morning, Lu Renkui saw that there were only tea leaves left in the jasmine tea canister, fine and broken, forming a thin layer. Thinking that he would finish the tea today and then buy new tea, and maybe even get a discount by combining it with other items, he poured it all in. When he realized that he hadn't poured it all out, he patted it with his hand.

Then Lu Renkui's face scrunched up from the bitterness of the tea, which was more than three times more bitter than before.

After quickly swallowing the tea, Lu Renkui picked up the filter layer of the thermos and found that the tea leaves had all unfurled into thick clumps, floating on top of the hot water.

How could such a tiny bit of scrap expand into such a large piece?

"Speaking of which, something feels off about today." Lu Changge looked up at the time, feeling that something was amiss.

"Ah, what's wrong?" Lu Renkui asked. Actually, she also felt that something was missing today, but she just couldn't remember what it was.

"Oh, I remember now, didn't Lan Xingtu come today?" Lu Changge said, turning his head toward where Lan Xingtu was sitting.

"Hmm? Now that you mention it, it does seem to be true..." Lu Renkui recalled that every morning Lan Xingtu could have gone directly from the back door of the classroom to his seat, but he insisted on going through the front door and making three turns past Ying Meihua and Lu Changge's desks before returning to his seat.

Lu Renkui turned to look at Lan Xingtu's seat and found that Lan Xingtu's table was still piled with things.

A short while after entering the classroom for morning reading, Teacher Wang came in and asked the students to move everything on their desks outside or onto the teacher's platform, in short, not too close to their seats.

So now, looking around, everyone's desktops are empty except for one or two textbooks and notes related to Chinese language or today's exam subjects, and pencil cases—except for Lanxingtu's desktop.

It wasn't until the bell rang to end the morning reading session that the students in the classroom started packing up to go to the exam hall. Only then did Lan Xingtu rush in with his backpack, frantically carrying his things out.

Ying Meihua was assigned to the third floor, while Lu Changge was assigned to the first floor.

While cursing the school's ridiculous exam-based class division system—the science class was clearly on the highest floor but they had to take the exam in the humanities class at the very bottom—Lu Changge resignedly picked up his textbooks and notes, and parted ways with "Ying Meihua" at the corner of the stairs with a bitter face.

"I hope they don't test me on 'The Quiet Girl' and 'The Song of the Pipa,' I haven't memorized those two yet." Lu Changge said with a mournful face, "Ah-ha-ha," and dragged her feet into her examination room.

Lu Renkui was also a little nervous—it had been two years since he graduated from high school, but the feeling of nervousness still followed him whenever he wasn't prepared for the exam.

Lu Renkui had just found a seat and was thinking of reading the explanations of the classical Chinese text for a while longer.

I was facing away from someone sitting in the seat in front of me.

Lu Renkui didn't pay attention to who was in front of her at first—even if the King of Heaven himself came today, he couldn't disturb her from reciting the explanations of classical Chinese words and phrases—but then she heard two coughs from in front of her, and then the person in front of her turned around and knocked on the table.

Lu Renkui looked up in confusion and then saw Jiang Hai, who was covering his mouth and looked very uncomfortable, his face pale compared to before.

"Paper..." Jiang Hai began with difficulty.

Lu Renkui blinked twice, and finally, out of concern that Jiang Hai wouldn't be able to cover it up, he coughed the blood directly onto Ying Meihua's textbook. He silently took out a pack of unopened tissues from his pocket, but Jiang Hai took it away as soon as he did.

"Could you bring your own next time?" Lu Renkui asked. "You always have to borrow from others."

Jiang Hai didn't answer, but took out one napkin and threw the rest back to "Ying Meihua".

Lu Renkui didn't expect the impolite male lead to thank her. She had just lowered her head to continue reading the word explanations of "Chen Qing Biao" when another person stood next to her and didn't leave for a long time.

Lu Renkui thought that either she or the classmate standing there had taken the wrong seat, or that the original owner of the seat had forgotten something. Just as she looked up to see which of her two guesses was correct, she saw Lan Xingtu standing by the table, frowning and biting his lip.

Lu Renkui and Lan Xingtu stared at each other for two seconds with their beautiful but angry eyes, then Lu Renkui lowered his head to continue reading the word explanations of "Chen Qing Biao": "You've got the wrong class."

To make sure he didn't run into Lan Xingtu, Lu Renkui still kept an eye on where Lan Xingtu was sitting. He then discovered that Lan Xingtu's exam room was located upstairs from the classroom where Lu Renkui, who was currently inside Ying Meihua's body, was taking the exam.

Lan Xingtu was furious. She didn't know where her parents had found out that she had Hanahaki Disease. They bought medicine and forced her to take it, making her late for school every morning. They even wanted her to take a semester off so that she would never see Jiang Hai again.

Lan Xingtu finally managed to get the medicine out of her throat and ran to the classroom to see Jiang Hai. However, Teacher Wang told her to pack her things before taking the exam.

By the time Lan Xingtu had moved his things outside the classroom, Jiang Hai had already left. Lan Xingtu had no choice but to run to the examination room where Jiang Hai was to see him.

As a result, Lan Xingtu didn't even have time to check where his exam room was.

But as soon as Lan Xingtu arrived, he saw "Ying Meihua" handing Jiang Hai a tissue.

Lan Xingtu suddenly became famous—in her memory, Ying Meihua had always been synonymous with stupidity and obesity. This was because after the final exams in her first year of high school, the teacher had specifically criticized Ying Meihua, asking her why she could only score single digits in physics and chemistry.

Now, Ying Meihua is actually in the same examination room as Jiang Hai.

How could this be? How could this be? How could that idiot Ying Meihua be in the same exam room as Jiang Hai? Lan Xingtu thought resentfully, and even rushed in.

"You...cough cough." Lan Xingtu coughed twice as soon as he finished speaking, and then two flower petals floated out of his mouth.

Seeing the two green petals fall, Lan Xingtu forgot her anger and hurriedly reached out to try to catch them.

However, it was too late; the petals had already fallen onto the table where "Ying Meihua" was now sitting.

Lu Renkui looked at the dramatic female lead, then at the two green petals that were falling down, and then expressionlessly took out a napkin to wrap the two green petals. He then handed the napkin containing the petals that Lan Xingtu had coughed up to Lan Xingtu: "Keep ordering, but don't spray my textbook with your saliva."

Lan Xingtu looked angry, but she couldn't stop coughing and felt more and more flower petals coming out of her throat.

Finally, Lan Xingtu took the napkin from Ying Meihua, covered his mouth, and coughed violently.

The incident ended when the proctor entered the exam room and took away the blue star map.
