The world suddenly twisted and turned, and after a dizzying spin, the shadow of the mahogany coffin fell into the man's pupils, disappearing completely in the blink of an eye.

A young Taoist priest dressed in a blue robe sat cross-legged on a lotus cushion, his eyes fixed on the Buddha statue, one hand forming a hand seal, exuding an air of otherworldly grace.

Looking at the Taoist priest's appearance before his death, Miao Yin found it difficult to connect him with the withered living corpse outside.

"Ghosts and spirits appear, strange phenomena occur."

The Taoist priest's powerful voice rang out from the temple. He raised his hand, which was forming a hand seal, and drew a semi-circle in the air.

The world began to spin once again, and the incense in the Taoist temple was swallowed by darkness.

Miao Yin opened her eyes. A hoe was smashed into the mud. A burly man wiped the sweat from his face and laughed loudly, "Damn it, we finally broke it open!"

"Wow, boss, you're amazing! You even managed to find a grave in a godforsaken place like Guanyin Mountain."

"Let's go down!"

Eight men dressed in mountaineering gear, carrying large and small bags, quickly descended into the cave.

Miao Yin raised her hand to try to touch the tree next to her, but unsurprisingly, she passed right through it.

It turns out this is Guanyin Mountain, and the Taoist priest was showing her the origin of the end times.

Miao Yin followed behind the tomb raiders, watching them diligently dig tunnels and navigate through traps until they finally reached the end of the tomb.

A chilling aura crept up from her ankles, and even though it was just an illusion, Miao Yin could still feel an extremely malevolent aura.

She looked up and saw a vast space. The walls, built of stone bricks, were covered with sinister runes, and an inexplicable red color spread from the ground to the top of the walls, exuding an eerie aura.

At the center, countless black iron chains hung down from the top of the tomb, eventually converging on the red coffin and locking it firmly, as if imprisoning some terrifying being.

Clearly, this place is different from a normal tomb.

But greed ultimately triumphed over fear, and having come this far, there was no turning back.

The coffin was placed on a platform raised above the ground, with a ring of stagnant water flowing beneath it. The tomb raiders carefully stepped over the water to reach the coffin.

"What grudge could they possibly have that warrants so many chains?"

"We need to untie all these chains before we can open the coffin, right?"

"Get the weapon out."

Several tomb raiders took out their tools and smashed the iron chain repeatedly. After an unknown amount of time, they finally broke the chain.

The leading man excitedly pushed the coffin lid, and after a chilling scraping sound, the coffin opened.

"What is this thing?" the man exclaimed in disbelief.

Miao Yin approached the coffin and looked down at it.

Inside the nearly three-meter-long coffin, there was a jade-faced Buddha statue placed perfectly!

The Buddha statue was perfectly round and smooth, with sculpted eyebrows and eyes that were curved. However, upon closer inspection, a cold and strange smile was frozen on the corners of the Buddha's lips.

A strange, sinister aura emanated from the air, and there seemed to be a woman's mocking laughter in the background. Miao Yin closed her eyes briefly and looked again.

Although the surface of the Buddha statue is warm and smooth, beneath the white jade, there is a faint black liquid seeping out. Strands of dark red spread and crawl within it like blood vessels, pulsating as if they were alive, as if some evil spirit is imprisoned here, crawling in the shadows.

A chill crept up her spine, but Miao Yin curled her red lips into a smile, quietly waiting for what was to come.

"This...this huge piece is all jade!" The tall, thin man exclaimed, his eyes shining, eager to touch it immediately.

"Take your hands off! Don't touch me like that. Now you know how good my eye is, right? I managed to find such a treasure in such an obscure tomb." The leader patted his chest smugly.

"You truly are an expert! My goodness, look at this white jade, the quality is superb! It's worth hundreds of millions! We're rich!"

While the others were celebrating, only the man at the very back looked uneasy and whispered, "This jade looks so eerie. Could it be carrying something? Maybe..."

But his voice had already been drowned out by the fantasies of the people around him about the future, leaving nothing behind.

In a daze, the woman's mocking laughter flashed by.

"Stop talking nonsense, open the bag, I'm going to move the jade!"

One of the men rolled up his sleeves, walked forward with great interest, and pulled the Buddha statue into his arms, taking a deep breath and lifting the jade statue up.

"Damn, it's so heavy!" The man's face flushed red as he turned and carried the jade out.

But somehow, the man, who had been walking steadily, suddenly tripped over something and fell hard to the ground.

"Jade!"

Several people tried to snatch it, but the jade slipped through their hands like a fish in water.

A sudden gust of cold wind swept through the tomb passage. When everyone opened their eyes again, they saw the jade Buddha statue lying on the ground, shattered into pieces.

"You son of a bitch, what are you doing holding onto this jade if you're so incompetent! Do you know how much money you've lost this time?!" The leading man punched the man holding the jade in the face, his eyes bloodshot with rage.

The man knelt on the ground, heartbroken: "I was holding it firmly! Someone tripped me!"

"Bullshit! Who the hell would try to trip you up!"

The group started arguing about the broken jade. Miao Yin squatted down, looking at the black mist faintly emanating from the broken jade, a playful look flashing across her face.

After an argument, they started discussing how to make up for the losses.

The leading man glanced at the coffin, then quickly wiped the dust off it, exclaiming in surprise, "I didn't notice before, but this coffin is made of Phoebe zhennan wood!"

"Alright, that's enough. Put the jade back in the coffin, and carry it away together, jade and coffin!"

They carried the coffin with high spirits, transported it out of the tomb, and then loaded it into a truck overnight. In the end, they all collapsed on the ground, exhausted and pale.

Miao Yin watched them get into the truck, then dodge the checkpoints by taking back roads, until finally they drove onto that road of death, where the tomb raider driving the truck suddenly fainted at the steering wheel.

The world twisted clockwise and returned to the Taoist's eyes. When he opened his eyes again, his hair had turned white.

Suddenly, the Taoist priest, who looked more than ten years older, let out a sorrowful sigh.

"Human greed is like a snake trying to swallow an elephant; selfish desires lead to disaster!"

He stood up from the lotus cushion, picked up three incense sticks, and bowed three times to the Buddha he believed in.

"This disciple has glimpsed the secrets of heaven, and my lifespan is about to end. I wish to use my meager candlelight to save humanity from this great calamity."

After speaking, he resolutely turned around and walked out of the Taoist temple, his blue Taoist robe fluttering in the wind behind him.

"Go down the mountain."

The cold sun set on the horizon, drawing a distinct golden edge on the ground. An ambulance sped along, its siren ringing urgently. A white-haired Taoist priest stood at the entrance of Zuochuan People's Hospital, blood streaming from his nose.

Miao Yin stood beside him, following his gaze upwards.

The first mutant human in the apocalypse was born there.

She shook her head and smiled, "Although the secrets of heaven can be glimpsed, you're too late."

—The end times began when that Buddha statue was smashed.

The whisk fell to the ground, and the Taoist priest bled from all seven orifices. He knelt at the door, his old, cloudy eyes still fixed on the hospital sign.

Peering into the secrets of heaven will exhaust one's lifespan.

he died.
