cold……

This was Meng Xiaoyou's first thought after regaining consciousness.

Mushrooms prefer damp, cool environments and dislike the heat of the sun.

In Plants vs. Zombies, the Timid-shroom sleeps during the day and is active at night, preferring the night breeze as its cap sways in the wind.

But things are different now. She's a timid mushroom, but her body is human. She spends all her time thinking about snuggling into the "big ice block's" arms, and eventually she falls ill.

She didn't know she was sick; her mind was foggy, and aches and fatigue spread throughout her body. She felt so cold that even her bones ached.

In this semi-conscious state, she seemed to be having a dream.

In her dream, she and the lame zombie didn't run away. Instead, they fought a fierce battle with the zombie horde, and in the end, she was beaten black and blue by the zombies.

The evil zombies threatened, "Run! Run again and we'll give you a discount!"

The zombies wanted to beat her into a lame mushroom, and the little mushroom panicked on the spot, jumping up and down on her stem to avoid the zombies' pursuit.

At the most critical moment, a tall white figure appeared out of nowhere, defeated the horde of zombies, and then walked up to her.

After the man appeared, all the scenery in the dream darkened.

His face seemed shrouded in darkness; only his white shirt and neatly clad black trousers were visible.

He held out his hand and said to her, "Let's go home."

They're not afraid anymore; he's driven all the zombies away, and they can go home now.

Meng Xiaoyou's nose tingled with tears. It seemed that the little stray dog, who had been wronged, had found its human. She immediately put her little hand in.

Then, the man revealed a rotting face and repeated three words in a deathly voice: "Going home..."

Meng Xiaoyou: "!!!"

Her vision went black for a moment, then brightened again. The blinding sunlight shone on her face, making her eyes sting. A tear slid down her cheek and fell silently onto the pillow.

Beneath her was a fairly soft single bed, and on the cabinet beside the bed was a small flowerpot with white and tender little mushrooms, neatly arranged to greet Meng Xiaoyou.

She... is back?

Meng Xiaoyou tried to get up, but her body was sore and she fell back into the mattress. Her eyes widened as she stared in disbelief at her limp legs, and she tried to move them again, unwilling to give up.

It's confirmed: the human's legs have rebelled, insisting on going against her and refusing to obey her commands.

"Ahh~"

Hearing the noise inside, the door was opened, and the man pushed it open and walked indifferently to the bedside.

His sleeves were rolled up, revealing his strong, fair forearms. His slender fingers were as white as jade in the sunlight, as if each knuckle was exquisitely sculpted, long and shapely.

These hands, just as they were about to approach Meng Xiaoyou, snapped their fingers together and tapped.

The finger bones collided with the forehead bone, producing a crisp, cracking sound.

"Ugh~" Meng Xiaoyou burst into tears.

She clutched her head, her eyes red and her voice hoarse: "Why did you hit me?"

The air was a bit chilly. Meng Xiaoyou clutched her blanket tightly, curled up into a ball, and sobbed as she wiped away her tears. When she looked up, she found the man's expression... a little frightening.

His expression was usually indifferent, but now his handsome face seemed to be covered with a layer of frost. His eyes were still calm, but they gave Meng Xiaoyou the illusion that the glacier might burst at any moment.

She shrank back and whispered her accusation, "This time you died and I didn't even bury you, why are you being so fierce?"

Meng Xiaoyou's head was spinning, and her voice sounded sweet and soft, like she had eaten a lot of honey, with a hint of grievance.

I tapped her twice, and she felt really wronged.

Unfortunately, zombies have no heart and no mercy. Not only did they knock her on the head, but they also picked up the flowerpot right in front of her and knocked over all the little mushrooms inside.

"Why are you feeding them? Let them go."

This knock was devastating. The timid mushroom panicked and clung to his arm, protecting the little mushrooms and shedding tears of heartache.

After her trip, coupled with her physical discomfort, her supernatural abilities were long gone. The tears she shed were human; the cool liquid dripped from the corners of her eyes like glistening pearls, landing on the man's wrist and the small mushroom.

Pei Sinian tore her off expressionlessly and handed her the prepared note.

Are you still running?

The handwriting is much better than before; the strokes are sharp and cold, sinking heavily into the paper, showing how much force was used when writing.

Meng Xiaoyou's nose was red, and her forehead was also red; she felt wronged.

"Where did they run off to..." Her delicate, fair fingertips dug and pried at the man's palm, trying to save the little mushrooms.

Pei Sinian felt no pain, but her soft fingertips were like a small brush, gently sweeping across his palm. He clenched his fists and wrapped his other arm around her waist to prevent her from falling off him.

Meng Xiaoyou didn't notice these details. The whole mushroom was hanging on his arm that was holding the flowerpot. She pulled hard with both hands and didn't forget to attack Pei Sinian's chest with her head, trying to hit him back.

Unfortunately, the man's well-defined chest and abdominal muscles, cold and hard like stone, bumped into her head and made her head hurt. Her mind was not clear, and she clung to him in a daze.

“Pei Sinian…do you think I abandoned you and ran away?” Meng Xiaoyou turned around.

Pei Sinian reached out and supported her swaying body. His thin lips were pressed into a straight line. He didn't speak, his face was pale, and his eyes were indifferent, as if he didn't care about any of this.

Whether she abandoned him or not, it doesn't change the fact that she wanted to leave him.

It's always the same; I always want to escape from him and go to the human base.

What's so great about being human?

In the eyes of zombies, humans are fragile and cunning. A silly girl like Meng Xiaoyou went to a human base, got sold out, and still didn't forget to count the money for the seller.

Especially since she has a soft, round face.

When she's angry, her delicate little face falls, her brows furrow, and her eyes become wet. It doesn't look like she's angry; rather, it looks like she's being coquettish.

Such small buns are so tempting that even a dog would try to bite them if thrown out, let alone a human.

Only he, despite her constant talk about it, hasn't actually taken a bite.

A hint of displeasure flashed in Pei Sinian's eyes as he pinched her cheek with his fingers.

Meng Xiaoyou's cheek stung a little from being pulled, her large, grape-like eyes brimming with tears as she pitifully explained, "I didn't mean to abandon you. This morning I noticed there were fewer zombies and was planning to take you with me, but that lame zombie dragged me off to work. You have no idea how greedy it is; even as a zombie, it's still eyeing children's snacks..."

"After feeding it, I planned to go back and leave with you, but I encountered hordes of zombies several times. Oh right, I remember I was being chased by a horde of zombies, and behind you... behind you there was a bunch of zombies too, cough cough~"

Meng Xiaoyou's throat felt a little itchy. She paused, then tilted her head back with a look of curiosity and asked, "How did we leave?"
