Chu Xinyao bent down, scanned the surrounding clods of earth, and finally chose the one that looked the hardest, picking it up. She placed the clod on the rubber band of her slingshot, which she had made herself using a Y-shaped tree branch and two rubber bands. Although rudimentary, it achieved the warning effect she wanted.

Place a clod of dirt in the middle of the rubber band, then pull the slingshot taut. Lean back slightly, extend your arms, and keep your eyes fixed on the monkey's location.

The monkey felt a chill run down its spine as it realized the female had aimed a weapon at its eyes, and it jumped around in fright.

Chu Xinyao was just trying to scare it; she didn't intend to hurt it.

"Get out of here! Do you really want me to cripple you?"

Hearing Chu Xinyao's threat, the monkey was finally frightened away, covered its head and ran away, screaming as it fled into the dense forest.

Chu Xinyao breathed a sigh of relief. She didn't really want to hurt the monkey, but now she had no choice but to take such a tough measure to protect herself. She put down the slingshot, looked around to make sure the monkey wasn't following her anymore, quickly changed direction, and hurried away.

"I never expected you to have this skill," Long Tingting exclaimed. She had originally suggested that Chu Xinyao use a dagger and throw it like a throwing knife, but Chu Xinyao was worried that she had never practiced throwing knives and that if she threw it accurately, she might hurt the monkey. She was also worried that if she threw it inaccurately, it wouldn't be a threat.

It was Chu Xinyao who came up with the idea. She was quite mischievous when she was young, climbing trees to steal bird eggs, catching fish and shrimp, and slingshots were her specialty.

Chu Xinyao was unusually shy: "This is hardly a skill. I lived with my grandparents when I was little, and I was a wild child. Later, my parents took me back to the city, and I gradually changed and became much more well-behaved."

Long Tingting understood the deeper meaning in her words, "Forget it, it's better if you don't change it at all."

Chu Xinyao smiled and continued walking. "Sister Ting, is that monkey really not following us anymore?"

Long Tingting carefully observed the surrounding environment. The only inconvenience was that she had to rely on Chu Xinyao's senses to observe her surroundings, and as for Chu Xinyao, well, that's a complicated story.

"There shouldn't be any more. Didn't we just see it run away?"

As the last rays of the setting sun gradually disappeared below the horizon, Chu Xinyao finally found a trace of civilization again. Leaning against a towering tree, her gaze passed through the dappled shadows and landed on the well-arranged orc village not far away.

This village is more developed than the previous one. Although it is completely different from the world she is familiar with, it reveals a primitive and simple beauty.

The houses are built with a variety of materials, including stone, wood, and animal hides. At first glance, they appear to be a chaotic mix, but upon closer inspection, one can see that the orcs living there are clearly divided into different social classes.

At the center of the village is a large platform, likely the village's meeting place, used for important ceremonies, celebrations, or markets. The platform is entirely constructed of relatively flat stones, highlighting its importance.

The platform is surrounded by a ring of stone houses, probably prepared for the tribal chief. Although they are few in number, each one is built exceptionally sturdy.

Behind these stone houses were rows of wooden houses. While these houses weren't as sturdy as the stone ones, they were more spacious and suitable for families. Chu Xinyao noticed that one of the doors slowly opened, and a female beastman stepped out, strangely carrying a kitten in her arms.

Chu Xinyao looked closely and realized it was indeed a kitten. These beastmen seemed to be living quite comfortably, even having the leisure to keep pets.

She turned to look at the edge of the village, near the wooden fence, where there were some simple tent-like structures made of animal hides and rough logs. Although these tents were rudimentary, their proximity to the wooden fence meant that the male orcs living here could respond to any external threats at any time, serving as the village's first line of defense.

As night fell, a bonfire was lit on the village platform, and the orcs came out of their houses, apparently preparing dinner. Chu Xinyao rubbed her hungry stomach, glanced at the bonfire again, and finally sighed as she left.

At a stream not far from the village, Chu Xinyao steeled herself and grabbed some mud to smear on her face.

Long Tingting: "You think this will work?"

As Chu Xinyao wiped the mud, she replied, "How could it be useless? I can't even stand looking at myself in this filthy state. Who would be so idle as to stare at someone who is so dirty and smelly?" As she wiped and touched the mud, she dejectedly put down the mud in her hands, feeling that she was being foolish. A stranger had suddenly come to the village; how could she not investigate his background?

She wasn't from this world, much less a female beastman, and suddenly felt a pang of regret for leaving Hu Xiao's side.

Long Tingting was exasperated and kept roaring, "What, you still want to live off a man? Do you have no hands or feet? You can't live without a man, can you? You really want to have a child that badly?"

"No, no, I was just thinking about it." Recalling the woman's pale face and the blood beneath her, Chu Xinyao shuddered. Giving birth was impossible.

It wasn't until late at night that Chu Xinyao finally found a big tree, sat down, rubbed her exposed arms, and scrunched up her pretty face.

It's not that she doesn't want to be independent; it's just that she's only just arrived in this world and doesn't understand anything yet, so she needs time to adapt.

A night breeze rustled the leaves. Chu Xinyao looked up at a constellation she had never seen before, took a deep breath, and knew she really needed to become stronger. Only by becoming stronger could she be fearless.

With little food left in her bundle, Chu Xinyao carefully placed the dagger and other useful items close to her body, unfolded the animal hide, hung one corner of it on a tree branch, and tucked the rest under her to wrap herself up.

[Sister Ting, please start teaching me tomorrow! I want to become stronger; I don't want to be a parasitic plant that can only rely on men.]

Long Tingting was very pleased; it was wonderful that Chu Xinyao had such awareness.

[Okay, I just hope you won't cry and throw a tantrum to give up later.]

[Absolutely not! Sister Ting, you can whip me mercilessly then!]

The next day, the sky was bright.

"Sister Ting, I'm so tired, can I take a break?" Chu Xinyao really wanted to cry. She thought the training would just be running around, but who knew that Long Tingting would make up a series of training plans for her overnight.

Squats, push-ups, pull-ups—every movement made her muscles ache. Even with the agility fruit, her body was starting to feel the strain.

Long Tingting: "What did you say last night? You want to give up now?"

She didn't want to give up either, but she was just too exhausted. She hadn't eaten breakfast before starting the high-intensity training. Chu Xinyao really wanted to lie down on the ground right away and massage her incredibly sore legs.

"I just want to rest for a bit," Chu Xinyao said in a low voice, her eyes filled with pleading.

"Alright, you can rest now," Long Tingting's voice softened. "Once this set of basic physical training is completed, we'll start to increase the intensity of the training."

"Ah," Chu Xinyao collapsed to the ground with a thud, her voice trembling, "This is still basic training?"

"What do you think?" Long Tingting retorted, her tone mocking.

"No, I can't do it anymore. I don't want to become stronger. Let me die." Chu Xinyao gave up. She was just not cut out for it. Life was already hard enough. Why make things harder for herself?

"Get up. You just finished practicing, you can't lie down. You can rest, just walk around slowly," Long Tingting said sternly as she saw her lie down.

Chu Xinyao slowly sat up and moved toward the bushes beside her, but before she could sit down, Long Tingting spoke again.

"Alright, let's continue. This time, let's try a different approach. You still have a dagger, right? This time, I'll teach you fighting techniques and how to use some weapons!"

Hand-to-hand combat? Weapons?

Just imagining myself holding a weapon and striking a cool fighting pose would definitely look awesome!

Chu Xinyao was instantly interested, but then she became uneasy and asked, "Is this tiring? Also, I'm a bit slow, will I be able to learn it?"

Long Tingting silently rolled her eyes. "How can you become stronger without getting tired? As for being slow, don't you know the saying, 'The early bird catches the worm'? Diligence can make up for lack of talent, and that's not just a saying."
